vehicle damage not visible?

Hey everyone, I am currently a level 7 driver, and I cannot get vehicle damage to show up. I have heard a rumor that the damage only really shows up after level 10 or so. But so far, I have gone so far as to barrel roll a car, and nothing happened to it at all. My cars just seem to bounce off of walls and other cars without leaving a mark at all. Any ideas of what is going on? Is there an option or something that I am missing somehow?
 
So far, if you want to show damage on your car, you have to really, really want to show damage on your car. Like, beat the Hell out of your car for a few minutes. Pick a spot on a barrier and pretend it's Justin Beiber. Back up a ways to get a good run at it, and go nuts.

There is mention that damage will take it toll on your credits when the time comes for a chassis refresh or something of that nature, but I don't know for sure one way or the other. Give it a whirl and report back. Good luck!

The damage feature is bit of double edged sword ..... the more you damage it the more its going to cost to re-fresh the chassis .

yes, but whats the point of refreshing the chassis if it doesn't change anything? performance stays the same regardless if you fork over the credits...just retarted.
 
Damage was visible for me from the beginning. I hit a barrier and i noticed the front bumber,light and bonnet was all crumpled, the damage gradually started getting more complex. Im now level 10, so i'll see how it differs now.
 
I'm also level 12 and haven't seen any damage yet either - even when my level 1 B-spec driver took out my tuned M3 for a spin and slammed it into every other wall for the first three laps :).
 
I've seen one car that I bumped gain a dent, in the sunday cup, I was driving my premium civic type R, I think all the cars in that race were premiums.
 
Well I do not know about the damage. I have not saw much in career mode as of yet. I am also at level 7. I did however see some pretty noticable damage on my Nascar last night in an online race with my brother. We were racing to the finish line and got tangled up sending us both into a spin. He went into the grass and I went into the wall then bounced off over the line for the win :)

I noticed when I watched the replay and the rear hit the wall there was some pretty major deformation on the rear of my car.
 
Proper damage starts at level 20 ive been told, the best thing ive seen so far is someones tyre blow out and cause alot of smoke! So hopefully things will be good.
im hoping for damage that writes the cars off just to make u more cautious.
 
I am now level 14, and am noticing more damage. Based on what I have seen, I believe there is some truth to the rumors that the damage gets better the higher your level. Kinda sucks for early on in the game, but provides some incentive to complete the single player mode
 
I saw a couple of punched in trunk lids from a few failed attempts in turn 1 during the Top Gear Lotus Challenge. Nothing major but it made me take a double take.
 
wow i see alot of damage and i barely crash lol
even the standards gets paint peeled off and deformed

i will take a screen later
 
Hey, of what i heard before the game came out is that damage shows up on only specific vehicles and it does for me...

What mode were you racing in when you saw a tire blow? I didn't even know that was possible. But that is great news if true!
 
This is my first post whats up guys. I was in an online room a while ago and there was a guy next to me with damage. I looked out the side view and he had rubber and huge scratches from where he rubbed the median. Im lvl 14

I saw it on youtube, I think i put in gt5 damage and searched through the videos its a guy driving round the cape track in a white merc, If I find it I will post a link.
