I have just found this about GT5 and think it deserves a thread and it should be on the news page.(well i think). PD have said that the GT5 release is delayed to coincide with the move.

http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2010/04/gran-turismo-5-move/
this is from PD
That’s the good news - however Polyphony then went on to say;

“Due to these additions, we will be pushing back the launch date of Gran Turismo 5 to coincide with the release of the PlayStation Move.

Whilst we acknowledge that this is a disappointment to fans of the series, it is necessary to provide the level of polish seen in previous games."

Well we finally no when gt5 will roughly be released which should be around Autumn, unless it is an aprils fools which i suspect it may be

Something similar to this was already posted in the latest news thread, however most agree that it is an April Fool's joke...

bwahahahaaaa

You just got april fooled.

wait.... post complaint? ayyyyye!?

Interesting find, but there are several important little questions one should be asking at this point:

  • From where are they getting their press release?
  • Given that the PS Move is already being slated for being a Wii ripoff, will they really be releasing a wheel to house it?
    And, most important of all
  • What is today's date?

I wouldn't be putting any stock in "GT5 delayed for PS Move".

ha ha...Hook, line, and sinker.

I always found that Wii Steering wheels ridiculous, but seeing a playstation move placed on something similar makes me laugh. I was wondering what FFB level a thing like that could eventually provide? My guess is 0.

Bad joke, I don't get it.

A quick google search of the text shows that that website is the only source of this information so far so I would suggest that it is complete, utter and total rubbish!

I believe further evidence of this being an April Fool's prank can be seen in the wheel design image.

It does not have anyway for the camera to see the glowing ball.

You can say that just by looking to the poor quality plastic in the "wheel".....

Even my DFGT looks good compared to it.

A lot of people aware of us impatiently waiting for GT5 will have a field day supplying hoax after hoax, and since some of us are such willing victims, who could blame them? ;)

3d Move Head Tracking what an important features for us!

I'm not sure if this is a april fools joke. My mate has been talking about the two being released together since November last year.

Forgetting today's date, how do you know that there isn't a cut out that goes all the way through the wheel where the glowing ball sits, or a clear window behind it? That way, the camera would be able to track it.

Honestly, these April Fools are getting worse and worse each year. No originality whatsoever.

I just noticed all the smilies have been switched.

On the other hand, if this is an April fools joke, then its actually good news :)

That would mean:

A) GT5 isn't pushed back release-wise
B) GT5 will release before MOVE

While we know nothing much about GT5 release, MOVE is set to be released late Q3 early Q4, so October-ish. That would mean GT5 should be released before that, if it isn't delayed again.
And then again, as it is an Aprils fools joke, the source isn't reliabe and my theory is rubbish...

From an article about move on the Australian Playstation site:

What types of games are best suited to the PS Move motion controller?
We have been testing with many kinds of titles from many different teams and so far we have not found any genre that does not work well with the controller. Perhaps simulation games, such as driving or guitar games, would be served better by a steering wheel or a guitar controller. Besides these genres, which are already served well by real world simulated peripherals, the controller works well with any kind of game. The high fidelity of motion recognition and real time response are the key for the success of any motion based game input device, and the controller surpasses in these areas anything that is available in the market either at present or later in 2010.

? That's the back of the wheel. Wouldn't that side be facing the camera which is most likely right by/on the TV?

Unless there are buttons on the wheel for accelerator and brake, I think that is the side facing you.

Actually, looking at it, no buttons are within easy reach no matter which way that wheel is facing.

EDIT:Actually, forget the whole thing: It was an April Fool's joke.

Yes - this was our April Fools story for today. You should have spotted the modified Wii steering wheel, but if Sony do end up making a Move Wheel that looks like this we'll settle for 2% of sales for our charity fund.

Why would there be a screw holes on the front of the wheel?

It's not real, so why does it matter?

I know it isn't real, I'm just trying to figure out how you came to the conclusion that the MOVE was attached to the front of the wheel when it's obviously the back?

Because I didn't see the screw holes on this crappy monitor, and button placement would make zero sense for this to be the back.

oooooooooooooohhhhhhhh.

lol, even though it's a fake pic,it wouldn't need to track the ball.It doesn't need to know absolute positioning for basic tilt controls.
So front or back wouldn't matter.

One thing Move would be good for,if GT has a livery editor.I've heard talk some developers have tested it out by sculpting in Maya, because it's so accurate you could treat it as a real spray gun,or brush for fine details.
Even though i'm not good at art,it would be a cool feature.

If they reall wanted to push the boat out, there's no reason it couldn't be used for creating custom body kits, would tie in nicely if there's wind tunnels and stuff for aero testing.

Didn't even think about that possibility, would make sense giving more free reign to make some fluent or natural brush strokes/ spray paint movements.
A cool feature indeed if added i must say, otherwise i couldn't really think of any other significant applications for Move to justify its compatibility.
I will certainly consider buying Move if this was the case, and yes i like painting paintings. ;)

To have the accuracy they claim it does. Otherwise it is just, as this actually is, a Wii Wheel.

Not being serious with these but GT could became the real mechanic simulation, you could use the Move as a virtual wrench or a...screwdriver for adding engine parts,or pumping the tyres,or even repairs during a WRC event

Become the wheelgun man during a NASCAR race,if you spend long fiddling with your nuts you could waste valuable seconds.

I'd actually like this one :dopey:

When your in the menu screens like GT5p,and you see the car in those environments, you can use the Move as a virtual sponge and hose pipe. You can than wash your beloved machine clean,it could also double as a car viewer.

Become a virtual photographer in GT,use the Move as a virtual camera during photo mode and get points for certain shots. The more points you get the better contracts you get with magazines, until you became PD's official photographer, were you follow Mr Yamauchi on his global travels.
The top 20 from around the world get entered into GT photography academy were they fight for chance to become a real racing photographer

Actually the camera can't detect what the ball is doing,it's just a ball of light. If the ball was on it's own the camera wouldn't know on what axis it was spinning or if it was "upside down".The ball is basically used for determining were it is in 3D space,It's the sensors in the move that tell Ps3 what the ball is doing. It would just be a more sensitive Wii wheel if it could see the ball or not.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, but thanks for those possible application suggestions ( and the livery editor one you already mentioned before ), as GT is indeed more than just a driving game and this could make some "tasks" at least more fun to perform and it shows the Move could be used in more imaginative ways than i previously thought ( all speculative ofcourse ). ;)
