VGA and Lightguns?

I'm getting a VGA adapter for my PS2 so i can run it on my PC monitor (i have no TV at uni). I saw a deal for Time Crisis 2 with two Scorpion lightguns for pretty cheap and was tempted...

But does anyone know if you can use lightguns on a monitor with a VGA box? My monitor is a standard 17" box. I can't find any answers anywhere else.
