i FINALLY found out that my camera software doubles as a movie eidt/creator. its freakin sweet. i can finally do my own movies now...and i have.

but there is one problem however. the movie is 6 minutes long, but about 300mb

its an MPEG though, and im wondering if wmv will do me any better.

itll probably be impossible but i'd like to bring it down to at least below 50 or 20. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

this sucks. (kickass vid though, lol.)

I record it with high quality and then I do the video edit (titles, music...etc with the video editor) and finally I render the video in low quality (I use files ".wmv")

ill see what i can do. its far from finished (as far as captioning and rendering and all that)....i just have the video and audio portions pretty much put together and in order.

Yeah i would think that that the program you are using woud have more than one way to encode something. i would try and mess around with compression settings to make something a bit smaller. It is not nessesary to make it a wmv file but mess around and see if that is smaller. If there are no settings then you can check around and see if you can dl a compression program

but then i'd just be compressing the file...

if i compressed the video then i could compress the file again with zip or rar.

Your video editor application should have an option to render it in lesser quality to reduce the file size. Another option is if you have windows XP and have movie maker, you can use that to convert your 300mb movie file into a wmv file that could result in only 14mb for 6mins of video.

Yeah you can also change things like framrate, I think I use 23 frames per second and you can't notice the difference. Also if you don't mind not having stereo sound, you could change it to mono, which would half the size of the audio portion.

You should have no problem getting it down to under 20 MB's if you don't mind sacrificing a little quality.

cool....ill give it a shot.

my prog is a little limited...that or i just have to figure it out some more. i can only save as an mpeg.

but thanks for your help and help in advance.

NoNONONOnoooooooooooo!!!!!

6 minutes video under 20MB?!?! That's just insane and stupid.

High quality is always better. Minimum of 10MB a minute is good, under that I can't stand the quality. Big file size shouldn't be a problem these days.

For the past few months I haven't downloaded a single video from here because I know they're most poor quality.

Why even bother making videos if you can't see what happens in it?:odd:

Do you know anything about video editing and compresssion? I think not... I can compress a 1 gig 6min avi format long video to 20-50mb by changing it to an mpg without any qauilty loss....If you really need help just contact me...

Just curious, If I was to make a video, could I use the S-Video that is on my video card, and somehow record onto my computer what the T-V is seeing?

edit- I know a lot about computers, except for s-video, and networking

Please do give me an example.

I want to see a high quality 6 min video which is 20MB in size.

When i got my clips off of my dvc, its about 700mb..well depending on how many clips i have. I use premiere to edit and export the video. Ull need divx codec to compress it as divx or whatever codec u wanna use. After editing, uncompressed, the video is 100+ mb. Mess around with the video settings and u should get it down to about 10-20 mb. U can get it even smaller, but i dont think anyone would want to watch it.
