I know that lots of people here have cool racing videos, but they cant find a place to host them. Well, I just set up an apache web server on my machine, and I thought it would be great to offer an upload service, for the GTP community.

Its right here. There is a guest account that everyone can use for now, just use

Userid: guest
Password: guest

There are no filename extension restrictions, but since I have no idea how reliable this will be, dont put anything _very_ important to you there. There is no file size limit, but the way my partitions are set up right now, i can only host about 2 gig. (3 gig would be pushing it). I'll reconfigure in the next week, hoping to get about 10 gig of space. Since size is my limitation please keep file sizes reasonable, and no illegal/inappropriate content or content that does not contribute to the GTP community (i.e. personal stuff), please.

I think my connection can handle the bandwith, but we'll see how this works. If I get too many files, I may have to start removing the oldest ones first.

So upload, download, and have fun!

Cost? Well, it's effectively free although it will use up you disk space and connection bandwidth. My computer is connected to a college network (T1 shared over a LAN), so bandwith is not really an issue.

As to setting it up, I could give a breif description here, but that will be specific to my (Linux) system. Just go to the Apache server download site where you can get it for free. They have an excellent online help system, and unlike many open source projects it runs perfectly 99% of the time right out of the box.

I got the upload Perl script from http://www.muquit.com/muquit/software/upload_pl/upload_pl.html and modified it slightly for my purposes (although it, too, works well out of the box.)
