I'd be willing to host the video for the winner of each race if someone else is willing to make videos of them. That way we can all view them whether we are NTSC or PAL. 👍

I can make a webpage for them so they will all be in one spot and you can link the videos here in a thread also.

Wonderful 👍 👍

Daan!

Bobkart!

:sly:

I'd be happy to make replays of the winning NTSC runs, after the competition ends of course, so it doesn't interfere with my participation.

Yeah, I can make the PAL ones for you.

Excellent guys 👍 Thanks

Tuff240 you can always just leave the stress up to me, we can just put them onto my site and you wont have to worry about making one..

Redundancy of access wouldn't be bad. I don't have a problem with them being hosted in more than one location.

Cool well all I need is the replays then...

Get to it lads!

Fantastic news.

Im sure Jordan will link to them also, if we bother him enough!

Its a big aspect of GTP, the OLR and i think he would be proud to announce the results are viewable.

Cushty:tup:

So, Duke was saying something about GTP hosting the podium drivers of each round.....

Is this gonna happen?

I will at least make the top NTSC video from each round, maybe even a few more.

Just kind of waiting for the dust to settle on the replay verifications.

Looking forward to these BK 👍

Sorry, been busy getting ready for my next GT4 LAN Meeting.

I've gotten all the zip files VV directed me to and next will transfer all the NTSC replays contained therein to a Memory Card. Once on Memory Card it's just a matter of capturing each replay on PC and encoding each video as a WMV. I'll keep you posted here.

My plan is to make the videos using a behind-the-car view with the indicators/gauges turned on. Unless someone has a better idea.

Okay I got them all unzipped, MAX files converted to SharkPort2 files.

There are 35 NTSC replays. From a minimum of just one in Round 6 to a maximum of six in Round 8.

Next step is to transfer them all to a Memory Card.

can't wait, will be great!

Well I got nearly half of them (16 out of 34) transferred to Memory Card, and recorded the runs onto my HDD Recorder. The ones that wouldn't work were all the ones I converted from MAX files. So I guess I don't know how that conversion is supposed to be done. I've done it in the past with some GT3 replays and was able to see the resulting replays, so I'm confused now. I'm using the so-called PS2 Save Builder, opening the MAX file and saving it as a SharkPort2 file (.sps). I also tried saving it as an X-Port file (.xps), and changing the extension to .sps, that's how I'm able to read the NTSC X-Port replays, but still no luck.

So unless/until someone can give me a clue as to how to get SharkPort2 replays out of these MAX files, I'm not able to proceed with the remainder of the runs. Maybe someone with both a MaxDrive and a SharkPort/X-Port can convert them? Hopefully I'm just converting them wrong and the right procedure will solve my problem.

Have you tried using the MAX converter?

You can get it Here

Hey that works! Awesome.

I'll re-convert those 18 MAX files using that instead.

I now have all 34 replays recorded onto DVD at maximum resolution, they just fit on two one-hour DVDs, the first eight races on the first DVD and races 9 and 10 on the second DVD. I made each race be a separate chapter in the one title on each DVD.

Next step is to rip each chapter into an uncompressed AVI file, cropping away the black border along the way, then use Windows Movie Maker to brighten the picture a little (they always come out too dark otherwise), then encode each resulting AVI file into a WMV file. I'm going to use the same bitrates I use for the NWGT LAN Meeting races, so most videos should come out less than 10MB. Obviously videos for those last two races will be larger.

I can't wait to see them! Thanks BobKart for doing that.

I got them all ripped off the DVDs and brightened with WMM2. Although someone I was talking to about it said I could have brightened them at the same time I ripped them using the TMPGEnc software I'm using. Oh well, next time.

Now they're going through the final phase, have been all day, of encoding them all to high-quality WMV files. It should run all night too. We'll see if it's done in the morning. Then a big upload of the results (over 500MB) and I'll post a link here for anyone wanting to rehost them and/or make a webpage for them.

quite an undertaking!!

Is anyone making vids of the PAL replays?

Bobkart has made a video of every NTSC replay. 👍

It would be nice to post them all at once, but I'm not sure I have enough bandwidth right now to host ALL of the replays (I will within the next 30 days). The top time in each would be no problem, but all the replay videos would be a lot and I don't want to go over my limit while I'm in the middle of upgrading my hosting.

The NTSC replays are around 580mb total at the moment.
In other words, if 200 people download them all, you are well over 100gb of bandwidth (my current limit). 200 downloads is very possible I think, so I'm a bit nervous to say the least. :scared:

I have PM'ed kart.no.38 and I'm also waiting for a PM back from Bob on a question on one of the vid files he sent me. (it was 55mb versus the other runs in the same round being 7mb)

how is the vids going?

Would it be possible for someone in PAL to make vids of all the PAL podiums?
