When I copy a replay over to my computer, i get a small DAT file and a few other things, but no video? How do I play these videos on my computer? or convert them to a mp4 or wmv thingey?

Pretty sure its not a video replay you copy over, just a set of "instructions" that GT uses to replay the race.

In short.. no converting to video file.

The good thing is that this format allows you to swap views, swap cars within the replay which you could not do in a video file.

On a sidenote the latest PS3 system software V. 2.35 has a build in function wich lets the users upload video clips from ther games directly to Youtube or save the clip on the harddrive.

Just need the game developers to implement this feature in their games. Lets hope the full GT 5 will be able to do this, or maybe even Gt5 Prologue could do it when a patch becomers aviable.

firmware update for a feature thats currently used by one game? silly sony.

should of just added it to firmware 2.40

The only way at the moment is using a video capture card or record the video directly to a DVD recorder (on a DVD, no the HDD of the recorder). If you have a recorder that can finalize these recordings, you can watch them, through the DVD, on your computer.

I got a program from DustDriver that you can use to convert the recorded video (copied from the DVD to the HDD of your computer) into other formats.

The only reason the replays are not useable on the computer is because of the feature of changing views and the like. It is a really cool feature when playing the game, but its expensive to find a video capture device that will record hd content. I just wish there was some way to save it straight from the ps3 :(
