Viewpoint?

I would like to know which viewpoint everyone uses.

On the Ground
or
Above the Car.

I usually use the Above the Car view.

Are there any advantages to one over the other?

I have it set above the car most of the time so that I can see what the back of the car is doing.

I set it to the bumper view for some of the time during endurance races because I get bored and the engine sounds a little better. Another fun view is the backwards bumper view just after you pass a car.

The overhead view is way better. First off, you get to see beautiful cars. Secondly, you can see what tires are slipping or locking up. You also get to see where the cars pointing and how its setlled on the suspension or not.

I use the "Bumper cam" view. It does take a bit of getting used to, but it allows you to get much closer to corners, benefitting your time.

I think I've found that most of the really fast guys use it as as you can see more of the road in front of you.

I have tried using the third person view but I cant handle the car there. I become tail happy.

I have total control of the car in first person view however. If I want to look at the car in the back, I just take a look at the mirror.

i don't like the chase cam becuase it don't really move with your car. what i mean is that when u turn, the camera dosen't really turn with your car. well i hope you know what i mean. this always causes me 2 misjudge distances and makes me drive like i am very drunk so thats why i use the in car cam.

Agreed with Belda. I find it very difficult to feel what the car is doing from the "steady-cam" rear view. I can only drive from the in-car position.

I used chase 2 in GT2 (and buttons and auto). Now I am bumper view, sticks and manual... like a real man.

bumper cam. i would imagine it is technically better to use the overhead view as you can see more of what is going on around you, but i like the realistic feel of the bumper cam

I use the bumper cam. Yeah, it is to your advantage to be able to see the tires and what's going on around the car if you use the chase cam, but you cant see the road as well. Besides, if your used to the 1st person view point, you can "feel" the tires when they start to get crazy... and if you want to know whats happening around you, it won't hurt to take a quick peek at the chase cam.

the thrid person view just doesn't cut it for me
i know that you can see how the tail slides out n stuff, but when ur inside, it shows more skill cuz you can't see the tail slide out until it happens
if you know how to manage the car from the inside, you'll manage it outside easily

First person because I concentrate on the car sometimes and where the back end is going which messes me up. I can also corner better like others have said.

Technically, it isn't really an "in-car" view, neither a first person view. It is, as many people have said here, the "bumper" cam. Just pointing that out, in case someone might confuse the two.

All the cars seem narrow and tall in chase view. But not as bad as GT2.

This thread has been really interesting.

I'm surprised at how many of you use the bumper cam. I find it it really hard to figure out what the back of the car is doing in this view - I mean, in a real car you could feel the rotation and the tires slide, but in the game... it seems like guesswork.

That's why I use the chase view, and I had always thought that it was the best for performance in this game. But I'm certain that you guys are faster than I am... so I'm surprised by your choice of view. I had assumed all this time that most of us used the chase view.

I can definitely see some benefits to the bumper cam. The analog speedometer is good. The rear view mirror is definitely a plus. Its definitely more exciting, and the engine noise is way better. Also the car never gets in your way.

I guess I'll have to practice some more with the bumper view... But I have to admit it. I don't know how you guys do it.

on straits i use third person to admier my car, the just before the corner i switch so i can judge the corner and enter accordingly. any one do the same as me

On straits i use bumper cam and look backwards most of the time, but that's just because it looks cool and I get bored on the longer races looking at the car.

When the turn comes up, I switch back to chase view.

i use the in car view and i don't have to worry about seeing the car if it slips i got a wheel so i well fell it BTW. i drift in the in car view
