From the official Sony GT4 site:
"Gran Turismo 4 is a journey to discover cars - the history of the automobile and its evolution to modern-day vehicles."
So PD likes cars with historic value, and Gran Turismo is supposed to be a sort of automotive history lesson. Good. That means PD might be interested in doing this in GT5:
How about including a half-dozen or so Formula 1 cars from back before race cars became rolling billboards, circa 1954 to 1958? Not familiar with them? Check these beauties out:

Are they too cool, or what? C'mon, you've got to agree that a vintage F1 class in GT5 would have to be a major hoot.
PD now can put animated drivers in open cars, so that's no problem. However, I would think that changing the looks of the pit crews would be a big deal. The 21st-century crews of GT4 would look pretty odd servicing a 1955 race car, but hey, we put up with empty pits and invisible pit crews in GT3, so I guess we could live with it.
And for that matter, we could live with thoroughly modern tracks like those in GT3 and GT4 as well. Asking for 50s-looking tracks in GT5 would be too much.
However, asking for those great old cars would not be too much. It would add a lot to the game.
