A long time ago when I first played GT1, I unlocked the Viper GTS-R with blue stripes. Since then I've only been able to get green. I've restarted the game at least twice and have had no luck.

Question 1
Is there something that determines the car's color?

Question 2
Is there a save (NTSC) I can download with a blue striped GTS-R? (I'm playing on PS3)

Question 1: I believe there is a bit in the code that determines the color.

Question 2: Not that I've seen.

What I mean is, can I in anyway influence what color car I get?

Will my current game save always generate green Vipers?

G'day to ya ! I honestly can't remember if it was GT1 or GT2 (or both), but if you didn't save the race you just won the car in, you could re-run that race and it would generate a different colour... (if other colours were available)

Honsetly Exorcet, the awarding of Prize cars in GT has always been random. I mean, I've never won the Yellow Concept Car, or the Green-Striped Viper GTS-R, or even the "Mythical" Purple-ish/Red TVR Cerbera LM. All I can say is keep racing until you win one...

I figured as much, it's just frustrating to try getting the correct color for years, literally, and being denied. Oh well, I tried.

Is your favorite car Dodge Viper?

It´s my fave too :)

Yes, it wouldn't be a proper GT game without it.

I read a post a while back, and it had a gameshark code that could change the prize car, but I cannot find, or rember the contents of that thread. Sorry. I'll keep an eye out for it, and if I do get it, I'll upload my save for ya.

Hello.
I was always getting the blue strips Viper until last week... After +10 years I finally got the green strips one! I tried changing the language from spanish (I'm from Barcelona, Spain) to english, and it worked! Maybe it's a coincidence... After getting the GTS-R I tried to win the "Del Sol LM" in red because I won the black version thousands of times an guess what... I got it!!!

Try changing the language, it may be the key!! I felt so happy getting these "impossible" cars, GT1 is great!

Probably just a random generator that keeps on getting you unlucky. I know that some people who keep trying to get the Concept Car either never get it in the right colour or just get the other prize car but I got a yellow one on the first try of my event.

I know Famine posted up two PAL saves for both GT1 and 2 (which I actually use) but again, it's PAL save so it's not gonna work on your NTSC version...GameFAQs might have a few saves for the PS3 Virtual Memory Card but don't remember what they have on them. :indiff:

It's a little-known fact that the blue-striped Viper and green-striped Viper are actually different cars... Check the sale value of each.

I'm trying to put together a multi-region set of GT gamesaves for PS3 virtual memory - I have a copy of every game from every region and it saves time when I want to play them - but it's taken a back seat recently and I don't recall where I'm at. If I remember to dig out my various saves I'll put them up.

I thought all cars you won sold at 10k each, 12k each at their own dealerships

In the NTSC-J version, all cars won are valued at 200,000cr wherever you sell them. In other versions, road cars are worth 20,000cr maximum and race cars are worth 35,000cr maximum. Except the green striped GTS-R, which is 32,500cr maximum...

Values in GT1 could be changed in your garage. I.e. car trade/sale values were a table in the "garage".

Perhaps something strange happened to your particular GTS-R entry.

On both my PAL and NTSC-UC games?

Don't quite follow what you mean by being able to change them though.

So I popped in GT1 and checked the green-striped Viper. Cr12,000/Cr10,000 for used car trade, and Cr35,000 to purchase from memory card.

I can't recall whether I have the starter garage (from Playstation Underground?) anywhere. Did they make versions of that for PAL and US?

I vaguely recall some of the cars were oddly priced.

If you use a game shark, or examine the garage structure each car has a value listed in the garage, which can be changed with a game shark. Once in the garage, the value is independent of the model. (The values are a table separate from the main car structures).

Now, as far as I recall, when winning prizes there is nowhere in the prize table which sets prize car values; that seems to come from a central table somewhere; when I used a game shark to win used cars they had value zero sort of like the B license Concept Car and I couldn't change that, and if I could it wouldn't be convenient.

There's some possibility the odd prize price was in version 1.0 and fixed in version 1.1 which I used. Note that the car value would not change if you view the same garage in different versions because the value of the car is literally stored in the garage. It's unlikely I will ever get the energy to win a green-striped Viper in version 1.0.

It's more likely I'll find my magazine disk starter garage and check the price there.
