From an Italian car magazine. Can anyone say Biased? Maybe just maybe?

Bad 0-200 times and laptime for 997TT. I dont know, maybe italian carmags are baised towards italian cars and german carmags baised towards germancars?

The very thought of the Gallardo beating any sports car that isn't 20 years old is silly. What biased trash. That's not even American patriotism talking. The 997 and GT should have comprehensibly destroyed the Gallardo, with the Z06 and Viper coming in right behind them. The F430 would probably split the difference between the GT and 997; or the 997 and the Z06.

I can see the Gallardo and Viper being close together time wise, but all the other cars should have clearly beaten the Gallardo. It's not biased, it just means that whoever did the driving was able to adapt to the Gallardo best. They won't have set out to get that result, the Gallardo it probably just easier to drive on the limit than the 997 the GT and the Z06.

👍 👍 👍

Lamborghini must be adding special sauce to their Gallarados, or someone still can't figure out how to drive the Z06 and 997T...

Could be a little bit of how the driver adapted, and a little bit of how the track was laid out.

Like I've said before, on a relatively smooth track with fast, long radius turns, the Z06 should just walk away from the competition. On a tighter track, it'd fall back.

And the Gallardo does have the advantage of AWD on slippery or low traction surfaces. This does wonders for lap times if the driver has trouble controlling the other cars on the limit.

And tires. You never know what condition those damn tires are in... or the humidity, or the dust, or blah blah blah.

And yeah, looks like they suck at driving manuals, but from those times, looks like they still got the other cars to 60 (96) in under 4 seconds.

In more recent tests the gallardo has been doing rather well. Maybe lambo has made some adjustments to the car which one would expect, as audi do it all the time, giving what the customers want, and the magazine reviewers so it will get rated better.

I can't believe the Italians can be this short-sided. The 997TT and ZO6 would wipe the floor with the Gallardo. Hell the Viper would wipe the floor with it. Isn't the F430 F1 like a billion times more expensive than the others? And last time I checked the F1 wasn't even an option for the public--unless they are referring to the CS model. There's the F430 base, F430 spyder, and F430 CS...I don't see F1 in the list of trim levels. This is according to www.ferrari.com. We should give these cars to an unbiased adjudicator for a real test. In some country where none of these cars are built.

Maybe they should stick the professional test drivers at the wheel of each model (on from GM, Porsche, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini) so we know we are getting the best results from the car. That way, we can almost be 110% certain what car is better.

As for a track to choose? Thats a tough one...

Grattan is my home-town pick because of it's good size and rather awkward track setup. But a place like Road America would be great, same with Silverstone or Fuji. Dunno, maybe a three-track shootout?

they have changed the suspension set up and increased the power

taking a look at the lateral G's, it's pretty clear they werent turning hard with the American cars. American cars have average MT - R&T - & C&D ratings, while the Italian cars all have +.15-+.25 g's.....that's a hell of a jump to acheive
besides, they didnt run 0-62 in under 4 seconds in ANY car, and each and every car listed (except Gallardo) is capable.. especially the GT

...Further goes to prove my point that Europeans don't know how to drive American cars...

lol

I don't know what the deal is with this test, among others the AutoBild one as well. Crossing both of them with the Car and Driver article as well, everything is different in every test.
