Try Spybot seek and destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/

You also need to have some restraint in dl'ing programs. All that junk it the background is just bottlenecking your PC. (not to mention some of what you dl'ed is spyware in the guise of anti-popup software.

You may need to give up your porn/mp3 collection and reformat. If you can't do that, you might try disabling offensive apps directly with msconfig using the run command. You'd best know what you are doing before messing with that though.
There are several websited that will tell you exactly what every program does in your task manager and how to disable them. Just look around the net a bit (ie do a search for ex. wethbg.exe or whatever.)

I currently have a problem with the sasser.worm. I have cleaned it many times with "Stinger" but it keeps coming back. What is even worse is that the sasser decides at random times that it feels like restarting my computer. This usually happens before my Stinger or virus scan has had time to finish.

But how quickly does it run? If it takes too long my computer will restart before it finishes.

You need to ensure that your system is properly patched. Head on over to the Windows Update site, where you will see information on the Sasser virus.

When your computer decides to shutdown and you get the 60 second shutdown message do this: Start -> Run -> Enter 'shutdown /a'

Then you can finish what you need to do to fix it.

NOrton is up to date, as is windows and spybot / ad-aware.
Ive been reading some posts in other forums about this virus/hijack and its almost immpossible to get rid of, ive not come across one sucess story, so its looking like im gonna have to format. :trouble:

toyo, I'm not sure if that help's too much, but I'd suggest the best thing to do is reformat.

Just back up what you feel is the most important and burn it to a disk. 👍
