Just recently I was looking on a site, when the B*st*ards decided to send me a Virus. It has infected a file called A01112714.CPY I tried to search for this file, but I found nothing. I use AVG Antivirus Free Edition. It doesn't even put this file into the Virus Vault.

Help desperatly needed. Thanx

Websites don't send you viruses all by themselves, you allowed them to send the virus to you.

.cpy files are part of System Restore in Windows. Disable System Restore, that will flush out any .cpy files, and then enable it.

Control Panel > System > System Restore > Check "Turn off System Restore on all drives" > Apply > Restart.

The closest thing to that is...

Control Panel > System > Perforemance > File System > Trouble Shooting > Disable System Restore

Is that right? I tried it and it did sweet **** all. Nothing happened

Which edition of Windows are you using? I'm assuming XP Home/Pro..

After going to Start>Control Panel>System>System Restore>

You will see the image attached. As you see in the image, just check the box.

I bet he's using Windows ME...

What exactly is the file doing to make you think it's infected with a virus? Is you Anti-Virus software flagging it as an infected file? How did it get from the website to your hard drive?

Yes. I'm using ME.

My antivirus comes up with Virus Detected after doing a scan. It asks me if I want to move the infected files to the Virus Vault. All of the files besides that one goes there, as this file is an important part of the system.

I'm not sure. I think that it was from a pop-up. I wouldn't have a clue.

I know that it's a Trojan Horse type virus. If that helps any?

Have you tried deleting the file manually? AVG should tell you where it is on your HDD.
