I'll be out of town this weekend so I'll have to miss the race on the 31st but I've been waiting for a series with this car

Thanks for joining! And don't worry about the Pre-Season Race. ;)

Cant wait for this tonight, still deciding colours I will edit it into this post when I have decided :).

Sorry Guys, I will miss the race tonight. I got some company over for NYE.

Happy New Years everyone!!!

Seriously? :nervous:

I haven't been able to add AMS97F1 and Yokumaru on PSN yet, so there will only be three of us racing for the Pre-Season Race.

I'm going to postpone it for a week if there's only three of us racing...

:( Id still like to ask are we keeping the CS tyres or upgrading them not that it was unmanagable, I handled it ok got a 2:29 round Gp/F but 265bhp could be too much for others who are less fwd based :sly: (Im a Fwd/Touring car junkie :p).

In any case hopefully we get more next week or when you postpone race this to as this will be a great series 👍.

We're keeping CS tires. :)

Anyway, I'm going to allow only 3 delays in total (this is number one). I have other commitments after the series, so I can't afford to delay it every single time 50%+ of the drivers don't show up.

The now Race 2 will be pushed down one week due to exams.

Ah dreaded exams :scared:, I can remember mine only a few years ago :yuck: (College rules compaired to school :)).

Also the one upside to the CS tyres are they are incredably durable after the update so even with all the power going through them they dont turn to mush within seconds like sports tyres :D.

Yeah, that exams made me leave my ps3 and gt5 collecting dust for a long time. Well see you guys next week.
Happy new year to everyone

I'm back from vacation and finally got on the PS3.

My Scirocco is now Dark Purple Metallic and the rims are Yellow.

Bump.

First race is tomorrow... maybe I should practice, I think I have ~20 miles on it so far.

I got 29s theres im sure 28s in it so thats a good target to go for ;).

Oh crap, first race it tomorrow?!! Damn I guess I need to practice too...lol. Man these holidays have me so screwed up.

Hey just noticed you have my wheel listed wrong in the driver info. I have a DFGT not a G27

That was my fault, copied someone elses for the format and just forgot to change the wheel type.

Damn, I got got a 2'35.182 and thought it was OK. I know there is room for improvement but I don't think I can squeeze 7 seconds out of there. I am going to try to practice again and see if I can get under 1'30. Maybe it's best if I start from the back, I am not very good at late braking and don't want to mess up someone else's race if they get stuck behind me.

Well that came pretty easy, I love my Fwd though its my speciality concidering my touring car background :D.

Ill do some more laps in a sec and see if I can give any meaningful advice :).

The only thing I know that will help with no tuning for this sort of car, you need to use more rear brakes than front I use 4,8 (I think).

Thanks for the advice on the brakes. I think I am loosing some time on the first 2 lefts, and the bit of straight after it. Sometimes I get a good line through the right hander after that, and sometimes I get too wide and too slow out of the second left and it screws me up for that right. Also, I have been able to go flat-out through the Schumacher S before in other cars, but that usually takes tuning and some downforce. Right now I am lifting and sometimes a tap with the left foot braking. I seem to do ok up through Veedol but I need to more practice to get the turn-in at the last corner right... I actually just need a lot of practice on this track with this car. I think I did ok in the JGTC seasonal using the Diablo and one of the NSXs but that was a while ago.

Kind of off topic, but I noticed your avatar and I was watching BTCC this morning. Its rarely on here, and usually late at night so I DVR it and am just now starting to watch it. I don't remember which track, but it was the race after Plato rolled, and in this race he went off and damaged the left front. The Hondas took 1st and 2nd in the first race. Don't spoil the rest for me, I am going to try to watch it the rest of it tomorrow night.

OT yes, yes this season was an arse with my man Platos Chevy uncompetitive due to engines (S2000s were supposed to be equal to the turbos but it never became equal) :grumpy:. Those races were Donington Park and Thruxton and Plato never rolled he get smashed off by Shedden hitting the rookie Griffen into Plato breaking his front left suspension, something id like to forget about... (you wait Oulton Park is funny :sly:)

Back on topic I ran another 15laps and managed to score a 28.9, im consistantly in the 29s. The key to getting a good lap seems to be in the T2-4 complex is slow it down then just keep on 20%ish throttle until you know you can flaten the throttle. The left right after that youve got to get the car slowed nice and early, ie dont try to brake at the last minute then just coast or have a tiny bit of throttle on until you reach the apex then you can flaten it. The S your right im not going through flat just about half and under seems fine until you reach the kerb in the middle of the S (The one on the right). The rest is pretty straight forward braking and gradual aceleration. For the last corner theres 2 ways of doing it you can carry a bit more speed in miss the apex slightly but then get on the throttle nice and straight or cut to the inside and let the car run wide both seems equaly fast.

Hopefully that makes sence and can be of any help to you :).

Edit: Rough corner entry speeds

T1 36-38mph
T2 58-60mph
T3 45-48mph
T4 55-57mph
T5 68-71mph
T6 50-52mph
T7 51-53mph
T8 86-88mph
T9 65-67mph
T10 66-68mph
T11 44-46mph
T12 52-54mph

Also im still deciding on colours I currently have it in a Lime green sort colour with black wheels but I love the Pirtek colours (like the BTCC Vectra of Jordan) and a Silverline light blue looks nice on this too.

Not that I'm not happy for a win finally but I'm never that good. That was weird. Hopefully we can have a closer race next week.

Pre-Season Race Summary

First of all, a big congratulations to Jay_B_II for winning the Pre-Season Race!

Unfortunately, only half of the drivers showed up, so the race today wasn't all that exciting truth be told. In addition, reiwon32 decided to get disconnected while he was in 2nd. :p

To those who didn't race today, don't worry, as no points are given in this race!

Anyhow, you guys can give your feedback on how we can make this series better.

Hahaha, decided to disconnect :P Man... I was pretty close to finish the race and BOOM, at lap 20 on Dunlop I was disconnected :(
Well, at least there were no points involved. Great race otherwise. Pretty fun but it needs more people

I can't stress that enough! Perhaps it was fine racing with three other people back in the Nissan Z Championship since the cars we so much faster (i.e. more exciting) and the races weren't as long.

I couldnt connect to the host so I couldnt race and anyone get near my best lap of a 28.9?

Also I got called to pick up the parents at 1:30am (which would have been mid race) then we leave at 2:40am to find a Ford Focus totaled blocking the road after clearly smashing a wall and rolling over :scared:.

My best was somewhere in the 31s, never got anywhere below that. I spent most of the race running 32s and 33s because we were so spread out I didn't see any need to run hard. I was hoping reiwon would catch up but next thing I knew he was gone and Peterjford was like 30 seconds behind. Think it would have been much better if more people had shown up. Hopefully the next race will have more drivers.

I like Suzuka. Not that I am particularly fast, but at least I know that it's is all up to me and not lack of practice on the track. I just need to get some practice in the Scirocco on it now.

I don't mind keeping the Scirocco stock for the rest of the races. Maybe we could have a Tuned Scirocco series after this one.
