I have a 94 volvo 850 turbo. 2.3L inline 5 putting out 222hp and 221 lb-ft stock (I have done mods)....makes most "riced" up civic drivers crap their pants:D

If you read my post you would have seen that any eventual argument wasn't about horsies at all. It was about that they're flooding this country, so therefore Volvo = to me they're as boring as plain white bread.

To put it this way to make you understand: I turn my head when a Caprice comes rolling. They're rare here and therefore I like them, they're simply different. Oh and I like V8:s, prefferably pushrod ones. Now you try to apply that to my reasoning to why volvos are extremely boring to me.

Did it work?

Ok, so far the reasons fo liking volvo is: highway comfort, reliability (can agree on that one) and they have made one turbocharged model that's pushing more than 125 hp/l.

Interesting that noone's mentioning security which is what they've been trying to build their brand on for 40 years or more.

Woooh!

We've got a 440 GLT 2.0i similar to the one below:

I drive a 98 T5SE, great sleeper and highway cruiser :) I've put bilstein suspension on it and tuned it to about 280hp. It has awesome seats too.

still... not sure if I want this in my sig... :p

The other day I got a ride in one of these and I was surprised with how luxurious it was. The other day I got a ride in one of these and I was surprised with how luxurious it was. So I guess I'll join, but you have to join the German car club!

come on man! just because they are common?? i'm talking about the driving experience, I'm simply making a club for volvo's because they are good cars, I like them and want to see if others do too, plus here they are not common at all.

Volvos are extremely safe. My Aunt Elaine has a '97 Volvo S90. It has 120,050 miles on it, and been in about 4 accidents. No one was hurt. That's why it is a safe car!

Yes.

I understood that quite early in this thread. I popped in here to see what people think is so great about them.

I'll join...I'm looking at a 850 sedan non-turbo 5 cyl..1997.

Anyone know the specs on this?
It has 145,000 miles and the owner is asking $2500.

It's in good condition...but I don't know jack about Volvos.

High miles, but that is a good price, I have a 1994 850 Turbo and I paid about 8 grand canadian it only has about 140 000 km on it thought.

2500 is a great price if it is in good condition. volvos hold their value, I sold my 91 740 wagon for 7000$ with 195,000 km on it,

850's are great cars, even the non-turbo puts out about 160 hp and the luxury is great! a 97 should be nice :D is it leather??
