Volvo go absolutely insane with the C30 Polestar

It is fast. Worryingly fast. One of the very quickest small things we've ever driven. Polestar says the C30 recorded a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds... and that was going easy on the transmission. They reckon a full-bore test would see it go close to four seconds flat. It'll lap Volvo's test track quicker than an Evo X... and within a few seconds of Volvo's C30 touring car.

:lol: I have to say, making it baby blue was an interesting choice but kudos to the tuners for this, it's absolutely mad. I wish Volvo would make it. :D
 
I think it's awesome. Read about it on Autocar the other day, it's basically a homage to their C30 Swedish/Danish touring car racer. I like the C30 as it is but you can never go too far wrong with a touring car inspired car, can you?

Then I saw that it had AWD. And 400 hp. And an awesomely functional yet understated body kit.

I. Want. And I don't say that about just any modern Volvo.
 
Aye, they should've done this with the pre-facelift C30 model. Would've looked even better!
 
Awesome looks, even better performance. The price wouldn't be so pretty, but doing 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, who cares?
 
I wonder what the fuel economy is like though. :lol: I would so buy one if the price was right.

Judging by the standards of modern small turbocharged engines, probably not even that bad! When driven sanely, of course...
 
Even if this was just another FWD hot hatch, those looks, to me, are absolutely epic and almost perfect.

Add 400hp and 4WD (no - I'm not a FWD basher, but 4WD is much better with 400hp) into the mix, and I want, seriously badly.
 
I will grovel at Geely's feet if they OK more cars like this.
 
It still has back seats! I bet they could sell out a limited run of these in no time. The thing is freaking awesome. Maybe it can help us all overcome our prejudice that all Volvos are still Volvos (in terms of driving dynamics) no matter how much racing stuff gets put on?

Come on, VW. Make a super sweet version of the Golf R like this thing.
 
I wonder how many people would buy one just because it's a hot Volvo and that's kind of an oxymoron.

I'm thinking a lot.
 
Everything but the name is awesome. 👍 I have to get used to the 'polestar' name, it sounds like a fancy way of saying stripper. :odd:
 
Are... Are those folding rear seats? Because if they are, that is officially the best car ever made in the history of ever.
 
Hmm, the C30 currently sitting in my garage does not sound like that at all. Pity.

I love it! This thing is crazy, a C30 with 400BHP and AWD that goes from 0-60 in under 5 seconds, I want. I'd like this to be included in GT5 or as DLC for GT5.
 
I'm not much into modern Volvos, or modern cars at all for that matter, but this thing takes the cake! By judging from the comments in this thread Polestar would be able to sell hundreds of these, so c'mon fellow Swedish engineers and make it happen! :drool:

I wonder if not this thing will sound even meaner than the touring car in that vid. I mean, the touring car only has 260 bhp! :crazy: :rolleyes:

Well it is a hella quick hatchback (and one that seems still perfectly usable) so I have no clue what's not to like about it unless you hate Volvos or hate hatchbacks.

I'm pretty sure if we put it to a vote, someone will vote seriously uncool simply because it isn't a full five door wagon and rear-wheel drive.
 
Touring car is also running on E85, revs to 9k and doesn't have a turbo or any kind of emission equipment on board to muffle the sound. I expect it to sound much like Focus RS..

I love the line "we've taken what we can from the STCC car but developed more where the rules don't allow" :D

The interior looks amazing too.

I liked the C30 already, now I find myself wanting a T5 and then getting Polestar to work their magic on it...
