Noble has released the first images and details about their new M600 supercar.
Boasting generic supercar styling, the M600 is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter Volvo V8. While it's odd hearing "Volvo" and "supercar" in the same sentence, the M600 is anything but Volvo-like. Packing 650 bhp, the car accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds, 0-100 mph in around 6.5 seconds, and tops out at 225 mph.
In order to get these insane performance figures, Noble had to build the M600 as light as possible. Weighing 1275 kg (2811 lbs), the car uses carbon-fiber body panels and a steel tube chassis.
Speaking of the chassis, the M600 has a 40/60 rear weight distribution for sporty handling. Other interesting touches include fixed-rate dampers, Alcon brakes (with iron discs and minimal servo assistance), and a fixed steering ratio.
"Designed to provide a pure and uncorrupted driving experience," the M600 lacks typical safety features such as ESP and ABS brakes. While a traction control system is part of the package, it can be defeated by flicking a missile launch switch - from a Tornado fighter bomber - off.
The £200,000 (roughly) M600 will go into production this fall, with deliveries set to begin in November.

Pretty cool aye, nice low weight chassis and good but not stupid power output, good overall combo, though i must say £200'000 for a noble. I wonder what a Volvo V8 sounds like, i bet it's the same engine they put into the Volvo XC90 V8, but twin turboed.

What do you guys think Yay or Nay?

Why did they switch from the Duratec, I wonder? I would have thought the Noble would have traded up to the Duratec Cyclone instead of the expensive Volvo V8s.

Isn't the Volvo basically evolved from the old SHO Yamaha V8?

I guess my only quirk is that it looks more Lotus-y than Noble-y...but, then again, I dont' think Noble has a strong styling direction, yet. Overall, reminds me of an Old Esprit, updated.

Boo in terms of styling. I guess it's pretty evident that they really don't care about design, the older cars weren't anything spectacular and this is pretty damp too. Rossion managed a way better job the first try than Noble has. This just looks too low-budget.

it looks like stretched Cayman. :odd: and Autocar has a test drive of it, doesn't sound stellar, and still has rubbish interior and Darth Vader in the engine bay.

Not a great fan of the other Nobals, particularly from the rear. but this time they at least seem to have done a decent job of the back. (Not to mention the switch from a Tornado....)

But for 200 grand? no chance. Cant think of a single reason why I would buy this instead of a Ferrari/Lambo/Aston

Hmmm... that looks pretty interesting.... I think the black would look mean...💡

So is it based off the Ford motor or the Toyota motor?? :dunce: The 1UZ is different to the Ford SHO motor.

The heads are yes. Yamaha have been doing Toyota heads for their more powerful motors since the '70s! A lot of the older ones (2T-G, 18R-G, 3T-GTE, and even the 4A-GE) have all been done by Yamaha.

But I don't see that Ford block having 6 bolt mains unlike the 1UZ. :trouble:

That V8 is said to be a Volvo design built by Yamaha using Volvo original parts. Hard to say what it really is... the red block was the last proper Volvo engine anyway. :p

But yes, looks like a stretched Cayman (wonder where I heard that before) with some Audi R8 thrown in. Hardly a superb looker in my eyes, sure it looks like a sports car but a very generic one at that with just about no unique details.

From the 4.0 that's in the old Lexus SC400?? :odd:

Its (likely) a Volvo-polished version of the Ford-designed, Yamaha-built V8 from the late '90s Taurus SHO. Volvo won't admit it, but that's (likely) the case.

Anyway, I vote "awesome" on the Noble. As far as I know, we didn't get the M14 in the 'States, but I've seen a few M400s and the like. It will probably be awesome to drive, and it will be bonkers fast. Good.
