... I think M5Power is a bit pissed at how I keep pressing the Rabbit against the Civic, but when the deal is going to be that good, why can't you?

His arguement: You can't compare the standard Civic DX to the Rabbit 2.5 Coupe based on standard features, I'd have to move up to the LX to get that right.

...and even then, the Rabbit still undercuts the car by nearly $3,000. So what if it is down two doors, if you move up to the four-door model, the difference is still about $500 and I still say the Vee-Dub is a better deal.

With you on everything you have said in the thread so far.👍

The Rabit will NOT have a Rabit badge on the back just the logo from the commerical, and look at one of the white ones, and you can see the logo then 2.5 badge.

R36 is not going to be a MKV production model, as stated eariler, the tranny wont fit into the engine bay. And the MKVI is speculated to be only a MKV facelift so don't count on an R36 until the MKVII sometime in 2011 or so.

And do I see a Harlaquine (I can't remember how to spell it) in there? Think they will bring them back?

Yeah, I'm not sure if you spelt it right, but I know what you are talking about. I think they were pressing the idea that the Rabbits were "breeding" and the ones with different colored pannels were like the ones with spots, etc.

But it would be interesting to see the model make a "comeback", as I have only seen one genuine model in my entire life as a Vee-Dub fan.

I was at the local Volkswagen dealer today and much to my surprise, they are pretty much sold out of Rabbits. They had one, a fully-loaded 5-door with the leather and 6-speed Triptronic, but for $21,000 I wouldn't go for it.

...Mid-late August they expect to be getting a good number of them in, but until then it is a trickle of new models untill the 2007 flood occours.

WTF, VeeDub either didn't ship enough of them or they sold so massively that everyone is indeed out of stock. I'm going to call around my local dealerships (all 2 of them) and see if they have any.

*McLaren*
Boardwalk has only informed me of more coming in within the following week.

You call the Lewisville VeeDub yet?

*edit*
Seems thehy have 4, 3 black and 1 silver and all over $19k. Where the hell is the cheap model?

Thats the thing, I went in look for a stripper model and they said they wouldn't have any untill August/September at the earliest.

My friends at Gezon just got theirs in, but they allready had a waiting list (if I can recall correctly), so it will be atleast two months before they have enough inventory to satisfy all of the consumer needs.

In another "BTW Moment:" I noticed my resale value went up on my '96 Jetta by almost $500 over the past two months, I presume fuel prices being the main reason for that happening.

...To tie it to the Rabbit, I presume it is much the same situation between the Rabbit and other larger VWs, despite the fact the 2.0T FSI gets better fuel economy than the regular 2.5 series Rabbits and Jettas.

My Focus' resale value is increasing every month it seems...it's gone up $1,000 just this year all by itself. I owe less than $9k and it's currently apraising for $10k-11k depending on the dealership. I call that a good thing.

I bought mine for $2500 and I could almost sell it for $2000 more right now. I would love to do it, but I don't think I have the heart to charge someone that much yet, and if my beloved VW went up, I presume the same for the newer VW models I would be going for would have done the same.

Ok guys I have some potential tuning news for the 2.5, 5 cylinder VAG unit.

Audi is working on a 5 Cyl. 2.5 lt TFSI engine with 300+ hp. the engine block will be based on the one of the US Jetta but most likely with 2.6 litre volume becorse it will also be based on the Audi 5.2 litre V10 FSI engine (FSI cylinderhead, piston's + rod's)
The mentioned power of the new 5 cylinder FSI turbo engine is 350 hp.
"AU-297" say that it will be called the TT-R and not TT-RS anymore.
There are corridor talks that say that the TT 260 hp 2.0 litre FSI K04 turbo will be called TT-QS (Quattro sport) and a TT 302 hp VR6 FSI TT-S.

So we know know that the potential is there with the 2.5, lets see if tuners can unleash it.

Hmmm, thats interesting. I wonder if the 300-ish BHP version could see duty in the "missing" Jetta GLX....
