And not just any 100 posts! A certain amount of time has to elapse since you registered, as well. Go to the Questions & Comments board and look for "Custom Avatar Requirements" in the stickies.

I don't think he has to worry much about the time requirements; as he's going at about 2 posts per day (I was going at five when I registered, and I was able to get my av at 100).
