**Warning about fake Paypal e-mail!!**

^^^^

That's my question. I've been phished on phone text, not just email! I even had a voice mail at work telling me to call this number to fix something in my account, from a "bank" I've never dealt with! I suppose they were just gonna ask me for my SSN and bank information.

I receive phishing e-mails pretty regularly - usually from Bank of America. I've never banked with or had a loan through them so I don't even bother opening it.

I stopped at the bank yesterday on my way home and filled out an affidavit. They are going to refund all the money that was taken from my account. They are also going to take care of any overdraws because of this. The full amount that was taken from my bank is currently pending which means the online store where the person tried to spend all my money hasnt accepted it yet. I contacted that online store and they are investigating the incident. I also filed a police report yesterday and that online store requires the police report be faxed to them. So hopefully I can get that resolved today too. So I should know in a few days if all the money is back in my account.

I've been getting these for over a year, and auto dump them. I can't believe people even OPEN these things nowadays. 'course, I've also been online for 8 YEARS, and have learned part of the shell game.

you want fun? getting a PM that you can't open without approving it FIRST, then finding out it's some european porn-chat fisher that doesn't look at profiles and thinks I'm straight :P :P

I keep getting IM pop ups and it's $%&^* irritating. When I used to be on AOHell they actually limited the amount of people you could block... Pidgin you can block as many people as you want. So IM spamers go ahead, you'll only get one shot.

I get them all the time, from PayPal to Irish(or Scottish, I forget) Lottery. While I have never fallen for one, there was one that almost got me. I was just about one click away. It pretended to be either a payment notification, or end of auction notification from eBay. Of course, it was for an item that didn't belong to me, and it tried to get me to log in.

Sorry to hear about your case, Camaro. Sounds like a real pain.... :guilty:

Please warn everyone of this Paypal fake e-mail.

Last week I replied to this e-mail because it truly looked legit. It even makes you log directly into your Paypal account on the site. I found out on Friday that someone used my information and took all the money from my bank account. Not from my paypal account but directly from my bank account. My bank called me because they suspected fraud. They were right and I currently have 0 money in the bank. After I called Paypal they confirmed that this was indeed a fake e-mail. Do not reply to the fake Paypal e-mail.

My mother had a similar experience, she got a bank email that looked legit asked me about it and I told her they bank never wants you to reveal pin numbers to them esspecially over the internet and told her to firmly leave it. As usual she ignores me and was worried the bank was going to close the account (didnt even ring) and gave them her details.

Few months after the bank calls because suspected fraud, 1000 dollar clumps were being withdrawled from malaysia (from memory), They put a bar on her account and sorted everything out and even gave all her money back, very impressed with the bank (not my mother :P).

The online site where the person tried to buy stuff declined the purchase. So all my money is back in the bank and everything is all taken care of. I will just have to wait about a week for my new bank card to arrive in the mail. My old one was cracked anyway so I dont mind getting a new one. I will just have to change the account info on xboxlive. Learning lesson for sure. :)
