I have no clue if any of my friends have told anyone I know on the web yet, but I was involved in an accident today with a friend in Garland.

My friend brought his Prelude in to a dealer for the sensor to the catalytic converter. Dealer took it to a shop who didn't do anything right. We decide to leave. We turn down the road the dealer's on to go back the other way (1 way streets). As we're going through a small intersection between the 2 1-way streets, a guy in a white Explorer runs the stop sign and bang. T-bones us at around 15-20Mph (my guess, no one knows for sure) on my side; passenger side. And besides calling police and all that stuff, that's how it happened.

The reason I post this is so none of my friends or family will come on this account and worry anyone, since most of them don't know the full details. Pictures are just on my phone, but they are enough for everyone to tell me that I was incredibly lucky I suffered no injuries besides a sore joint in the arm.

My friend, though, is crushed. He just bought the car, and hadn't even made its first payment. All I can say is that I'm glad we all walked away without any serious injuries, and that we're fine. The only thing left to find out is whether or not the bottom frame in the Prelude is bent. If so, it's totalled. If not, the police told us it may be repaired. We just don't know how long.

But, it was def. one of the scariest things I had seen because I just caught the SUV out of the corner of my eye, and bang, spun around. I haven't been in t-bone accident like this before, and I'm so glad I came out like I did.

Good to hear everyone is alright. Did you at least go to the hospital to checked out?

Shame about the car, though.

I saw the thread title and your name and was worried that you were in the Si. At least none of you are hurt and it wasn't your car. Still sucks to happen to a friend's though.

Good luck to your friend on getting it repaired.

Good to hear your ok, thats the most important thing, the car can always be fixed up.

Thats terrible news!

Accidents are never fun, I was in a head-on in my '93 Fox, not to mention clipping a deer a short while back in the brand-new Celica. Its dreadfully scary, and to this day, I still fear going through that light that I was hit at all those years ago.

Glad to hear you're okay, stuff like that is always hit/miss with what can happen...

As you can see, it could have been worse, but the guy still managed to do quite a lot of damage. We're hoping that bottom frame isn't bent.

Oh wow, you are terrible lucky to walk away from that Rick. 👍 But really, that dent just looks nasty. If an SUV T-boned the car 15-20Mph could cause a damage like that, think of what would the damage be if it was a truck or if the SUV had gone a little faster..... Anyway, sorry to hear your friends new car getting wrecked, I'm sure he could settle it somehow. By the way, did you manage to get contact details from they guy, asked him whether he could pay for the damage, etc.?

Yeah, we got all his information. He has a Commercial License & a Class A license which the officer told us he more than likely had insurance. My friend will be getting an estimate soon.

Damn, that sucks man. Not to pull up any stupid bickering about chiropractors, but I'd go see one asap just for a quick check up on yourself and friend. For me it ended up in getting a nice insurance settlement (proof of injury, even though I showed no signs at all of one for about 3 months), much more than what my auto offered initially, (but then again only I had insurance, the guy who hit me didn't).

I call repair on that one. There's actually quite a few techniques shops use to repair slight frame damage, depending on where it is. But to me it looks like just replacing the door, the b-pillar, and the rear quarter panel area, along with the interior parts and whatnot. Also, I'd recommend getting it repaired at a Honda dealership. My friend has told me horror stories of what aftermarket repair shops have done to fix certain types of damage, especially suspension damage. Whereas the dealer will simply replace a broken part, some shops actually try to fix them. And sometimes it doesn't work out so well.

Btw, nice car. I love those Preludes. Is it an SH model?

Yeah, I've told him have Honda do it, and don't the used car dealer he bought it from do anything to it anymore.

The car also slightly pulls to the left too, so I'm not sure how serious that is for this car, right now.

I think it's just a base model Prelude.

Glad to hear you're alright. The people who've been telling you you were lucky were right by the looks of that.

I suppose the only advantage of being hit by an SUV is that it's less likely to damage the frame... not much of a consolation though. Good luck to you and your friend 👍

Glad you've come out okay, from being hit side-on I think I'd least like it to be a tall vehicle like and SUV, but as Roo says above, conversely it's probably best for the car from a repair point of view as it'll have done less damage to the frame, denting above it instead.

Hope the doctor gives your arm the a-okay and the soreness dies down 👍

Well you are lucky the truck didn't hit any harder 👍

The car is repairable no doubt, if the body structure is warped slighty it doesn't matter the crash shop will measure everything and put it on a rack and straighten it out to standard specs.

I'm glad you're okay Reventon, if you had died, I would cry every time I see your avatar, I hope your friend is okay too

I was ran off the road yesterday in Plano because four rednecks in an F250 decided to pull out and across 2 lanes of traffic into my lane. :grumpy: Thankfully no body damage occured, just curb damage to the passenger rims. My seatbelt and airbag do not work so if I would of hit them @ 50mph I probably would of been ejected.

Glad to hear you and your buddy are ok.

That reminds me. What's with idiots in F250s? I was driving home last week and some douche nozzle in a lifted F250 pulls out of a parking lot and the truck is so big only the nose fits in the median between the 6 lanes (3 southbound, 3 north bound) so the rest of his truck was hanging in the far left and middle lane with traffic going 45mph heading right for him. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him. I think I held the horn down for a good 15-20 seconds while I was heading towards him/slowing down.

I hate douche bags that think they own the road because they drive a lifted truck with 36" tires.

I bet they were kids, right? Bastards....

Anyways, news on my body is worse than expected. Apparently, when the doctor did a full check up, my body did not respond well to his pressue points on my left back side. The accident has also caused one of my legs to stick out an inch further than the other. My neck is also very tender, and there all kinds of knots in the shoulder. My hips have also taken some damage, and I believe the doctor said I have sprained my lower back.

So, maybe I wasn't that lucky after all. :indiff:

Eh just go to alot of massage parlors and don't worry about walking lop-sided! :p

In all seriousness that sucks, but it's better to know that now then find out later in life!

I've always got cuts, bruises and hits making permanent damage, my right toe sticks out more and is 1/3 bigger than my left, etc. But left leg sticking out an inch more? That sounds creepy..

Sorry to hear that. :(

The rednecks were actually in their 40's and 50's. It was on Park and near the QT over there by the Willow Bend mall. You might could still see my tire marks in the grass.

Sheeeeeeeet Reventon, not good news at all!!

One thing I'll point out. In that picture posted, on the lower sill you can see the bend near the door towards the rear wheel, showing the chassis has been bent in some way. Also, the impact may have wrecked other suspension parts on the right side (rear control arms, strut mounts, etc.). So more than likely it will be considered a write-off because it looks like the cost of labour alone would rack up to the value of the car!! :ouch:

Was the guy that hit you insured?? Was your mate insured?? And do you have any personal accident insurance?? Those injuries take a long time to heal, so go get some compensation for yourself mate to keep you on your feet for a while.

Take care of yourself and hope your recovery goes as smoothly as possible. 👍

P.S. Looks like you'll be on GTP a lot more often then eh? :sly:

I'm trying to get him to take it to Rusty Wallis Honda for an estimate. It's looking like a write off, but he really wants it and it was a pretty good deal for the car.

All 3 of us have insurance. In fact, the guy who hit us had his insurance call me about the accident. Their agent, from what I know, basically told me Farmer's isn't going to pay for any treatment they don't think I should recieve.

In other words, I went with a hurt shoulder, thus I should only be compensated for the shoulder, not the treatment of the other problems found. I think this could turn ugly if they refuse to cover treatment for the rest of my pain. :grumpy:

Who said you only had a hurt shoulder?? The insurance agents?? We all know they're specialists in diagnosing injuries!:lol:

Besides, the visit to the doctor's was your first diagnosis since the accident wasn't it?? If so, then the insurance can't really get out of it. They can say "oh you should've gone to hospital if you were that bad" but they aren't you, so they don't know your threshold of pain and where someone with the same injuries could be screaming and wailing, you walked away from it. ;)
