We know that GT5 should include very many cars - how about some variety?

When I bought GT4, I was very pleased with the number of cars. However, the variety also plays a huge factor. Ironically, I found that most of the cars were Japanese... This is also true of GT5P. Let's see some classic cars from the 50's or some more European classes... I just have a bad feeling that Kazunori is going to repeat himself like he did in GT4.

Any thoughts? Any and all info is appreciated and welcomed.

Personally, I thought the list was spread out quite decently. Now obviously, being a Japanese development studio, team, and Kazunori himself being Japanese, you're going to have a higher ratio of Japanese content vs. American or European. I'm not to bothered by it, especially since they've added over 200 cars since GT4, and they have to come from somewhere ya know. I think we won't have anything to worry about.

^ +1. It's a lot easier and cheaper for PD to travel within Japan to take pictures and measurement than travel to Europe, America . Plus, they're Japanese, of course they're more proud of their own cars than others.

They can easily get all the data for all the cars in japan and china. No reason to come to the US at all.
I'll agree with the pride part

Agree, 90% of the cars they can. They can't on the concept cars, race cars and cars that belong to a museum or private owner.

As someone said, the game is japanese, the creator is japanese, and stuff. But seriously, Nissan with its Skylines had more cars than Ford, Mercury, Buick, and Cadillac together. Seriously? Not to mention the same could be said for Aston Martin, Jaguar, and other brands. That's just too much for me.

^^Not really necessary dude.

Some people will never learn, to be honest.

My thoughts are that we do not need another wish list, and that there are plenty of European makes that we already know will be in the game. Sure, variety is good, but at the end of the day, I (like a lot of people I'm sure) end up with only a handful of my favourite cars that I race with.

I think that if PD was an American based company we would have every variation of Mustang, Viper and Vette imaginable and one or two of each Japanees make. That being said I do believe pride has alot to do with what cars we get in GT. I am over all satisfied with the list of cars they give us. In my opinion we have a nice selection of cars to choose from, the only thing GT is missing/lacking is a release date.:)

Not exactly. I know this is not PD, but this is an American based company. There are deficiencies in that car list, though, for example, the almost inexistence of Jaguar, Aston Martin, etc.

Ok I see your point but that is Turn10 and they do not have the passion for cars like Kaz does. Now if Caroll(spelling?) Shelby was a game developer, with his passion for cars(much like KY) I bet we would see way more American cars than Japaneese cars.

I think, the variety will be OK, just as in GT4. Remember how many old Muscle-Cars were included. Sure, we will get tons of Japanese cars as mentioned in other posts. I like these colorful JGTCC especially. And don't forget, we have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg and possibly Bugatti in GT5. Maybe, some unknown surprises too.
Bad thing is, we'll have to wait till christmas !!!

I don't exactly understand what does that have to do with anything, but they are showing more passion for cars by letting people know more about them as a whole than just a few brands.

Sorry mate, I have not had my coffee yet this morning and I went back and reviewed my posts and got confused on what I was trying to say.:dunce: My appoligies, continue on sir.

I disagree here, they didn't even include a mustang from the sixties but we got 3645022 skylines and 100 kei cars.

I'm a muscle car fan and well we are not represented very much in the car list. (GT4) Maybe that'll change because seriously what's the point of having multiple skylines with all the same power and weight but with a variation in the name (See nissan dealer in GT4) when you could have one and it would be just fine.

In GT5P there are almost more nissans than Dodge, Chevy and ford reunited. Talk about variety yeah...

I don't think the positive bias towards Japanese brands within GT in the first instance was meant ironically, i think it was partly necessity ( licences ) and mainly to pay hommage to a beforehand largely ignored part of car culture/ history within both games and the car world in general.

Having probably fulfilled a larger role to endorse the Japanese cars as cars you can enjoy ( Rather than just being reliable ) than any factory PR or racing/ rally program, i have to say that the more recent GT games feel nicely balanced and include enough variety of different brands and countries.

And i think we will see even more of this GT5, i mean what other developer would have included almost largely forgotten brands like Alpine, Jensen, Ginetta, etc.,etc. into their biggest game ( GT4 ) until now?

( Oh, and i don't end up with a few cars i race over and over again, i really use the enormous variety of different cars, as i'm a petrolhead first and a gamer second....)

Well actually I like that most cars in GT are japanese... I have 158 cars in my GT4 garage right now , and 108 of those are japanese ( almost 20 skylines :D ) I especially like those old school JDM cars like hakosuka , hachiroku , skyline RSX-TURBO and mk1 MR2... Can't wait to drive them all in GT5

with ferrari and lamborghini, maybe maseratti too, we have 3 new european developers in the game... When I bought FM3, I was 100% sure that it will include the most new cars... So I was sure there is the new c-class and the new e-class from mercedes in the game... I love those 2 cars, they´re fantastic but not in the game...

We´ve already seen pictures from the new c-class AMG version in GT5... So I´m sure we get a lot of great european and US cars in the game, even more than in FM3...

Kaz is Japanese, but he loves his American cars... His 2 Ford GT's!! Even though it's not all made by Ford parts.

He said he loves the styling of the car, no other aspects. Loving a single model of car doesn't mean he loves american. I don't like the enzo but it doesn't mean I dislike all italian cars.

I agree with the OP, we should have more euro and american cars in GT, but as the game is japanese, Sony is japanese and the big boss (KY) is japanese, so it's just fair and reasonable to have mostly japanese cars, in fact this is more than obvious in my opinion.

Having 20 Skylines is not that bad at all, since they have little differences, but they are different so it's enough to justify their inclusion. However, I don't care to have 8 R34 models instead of a classic mustang, or a Pontiac GTO, muscles have been neglected for a long time, they've removed GTX, Challenger and many other cool muscles from GT2 with no explanation at all, how can they do it?

Also, used american and european cars from the 80's should make an stronger presence, most cars from outside japan, are very classic, famous or brand new models! Just as an example, they will be certainly giving us VW Scirocco, the new one, and probably the older model, but we will not see the VW Corrado, which was very cool as the Scirocco.

This thread should appear in our future GT6 forum, since the car modeling is over for GT5 probably. KY, gimme VW Corrado for GT6! :grumpy:

The Corrado VR6 was for a very long time regarded ( maybe still is ) as one of the best handling FWD cars ever made ( so it would be nice to include it ), but i would settle nonetheless for the new Scirocco R or the very first Scirocco.

Fair, you want this one, and I'm looking forward to it too:

or this one:

But I think this one deserves a place in GT too:

Great looking VWs in my opinion. I would prefer to drive a corrado than an old honda integra, because VW has a lot of presence by here. I can't tell the same of Honda.

So who's going to model all these cars on your wish list? Especially since it takes PD 6 month to do them. Reality is a different beast

Unless you want GT5 in 2-3 years time, take what your given and be happy

We can (pretty much) justify that PD has put enough Skylines in GT4.

And if you consider that most (if not all) cars from GT4 will be in GT5, that leaves about 298 non-skylines if you count the GT-R.

Now if that's not enough variety then someone's a liiiitle bit picky

As Mcdog says, there are almost 300 new cars in GT5, just about as many new cars as there were cars in Forza 2. Considering that I have almost 400 rides in GT4, and I'm still collecting, I expect to be more than happy with GT5. If you're not, oh well.

I'm wondering how it is possible that Corrado is spinning its rear wheels since it is a FWD car. :boggled: Is it a customized RWD version?
