We need clutch!

There are many reasons, as has been stated, why a clutch it not included:

It will not sell. The costs to re-write the code, and then create the pedal, and do the research so the pedals work together in a realistic manner (gas/clutch) would not be cost effective for the marginal at most audience that is willing to buy them.

If they were garunteed to sell 20,000 units of the new pedal/wheel it would work, but they aren't, and it's only a niche market...so the cookie crumbles.

Depends on whether you're looking for the feature in a wheel/pedal controller or not. The recently-released "TOCA Race Driver 2" has a clutch feature, but the game is designed around the DualShock2, so it's simply another button on the controller to push while shifting.

It'd be shame to use a clutch using a controller. No fun there, though they should include it if possible (not demanding) but it'd be pretty cool to have it in GT4. I play GTR Demo quite regularly now, and dont use clutch in it. But it keeps the options open when they have the feature in it..

Many people have said things regarding realism in computer games , IMO a clutch would make the whole driving experience alot more real , than having some on screen damage that looks quite nice but doesnt really add to the game .
After all ,( going back to the old days ) playability was so much more important than graphics , why should this be different now ....

Project Gotham Racing has got car damage , and it doesnt add to the game one little bit as far as playability goes , also why have car damage when you play on the incar view --- you wouldnt be able to see it ????? ( seems a bit pointless to me )

Clutches are the next step in driving game realism , just hope that pd will incorporate it into GT5 :dopey:

At least if they offer the option, it would be nice. TOCA has two kinds of manual.. "Manual" and "Manual with Clutch".. GT would do well to go that way if they do incorporate a clutch, for those of us who prefer to shift at the push of a button.

Damage can be benificial to the game if it changes the way the car performs. Again, I cite TOCA as an example.. screw up the engine, and it's harder to accelerate.. blow a tire, and it's harder to control (nigh impossible, if that wheel is only a rim, which I've done).

And no, I don't think TOCA is a better game, I'm just using it as a diversion until GT4 hits.. hehe.

I have to agree with the original poster here... The inclusion of a clutch would be a huge leap forward in term of realism for this genre of simulations/games etc. A force feedback version of pedals is available now for the PC (I think) and should not be too hard to port over to the PS whatever. I have a DFP set into a "car tub" that I have built and am considering from here...

They have a pedal set to suit the DFP and am sure can produce one with clutch.

With GT4, as with everything, why does it have to be all or nothing? Surely there can be three options...

Full auto (As now)
Manual without clutch (As now)
Manual with clutch

Hey when I revived this discussion, did any of you actually read MY post? :D I was saying that there is a clutch simulation in GT NOW - including GT3 - that changes perspective on this discussion. For instance, step off the accellerator, tap reverse button, and your car's in neutral. What do you think about that?

hi

First of all, that game is crap, steering is bull**** and its more a SEMI FULL VERIOSN of a Game.
And 2. EVERY there is playing LFS as dragster racing game****, HELLO ???? :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

so as DEMO ok , but there are more racing games better then that "peep" game and
without clutch.

But if u need a Race game with it , w8 for GTR ....
