Here is a good comparison, at least I think so. Have a look at the professional flight simulators that have full 3D chassis movement and such, used generally for training purposes. The ones I have seen use what is essentially Microsoft flight simulator as a basis, then they integrate all the various real cockpit functions and gauges into the "real" cockpit to work with the programming. Last time I checked, these don't have perfect shadows or perfect graphics, even though a simulator such as this can cost $5 million or more. We should be lucky we can build our own simulators, if I may call it that, for as little as $1000 with a PS3, G27 wheel, and a copy of GT5, and still end up with similar results, less the full 3D chassis movement.
