Also, will there be a Safety Car present or is it like the GTMSA series where if you wreck, you're screwed?

ROUND 5,
Daytona Road
DRIVER'S BRIEFING!

Circuit: Daytona Road
Laps: 76
Weather: Sunny

Circuit Rules:

+) Race Start: Our usual rule of starting the race on the painted grid slots will not apply for this round, as there are no painted grid slots on the banking of Daytona, Instead, The lead LMP1 car must be passed pit entry and level with the grass section on the tri oval before accelerating, as usual one of the stewards will call green,

+) Pit Entry, Due to the speed differences of cars in the banking any driver wishing to pit must maintain the lowest line plausible through the banking after the bus stop chicane and exit the banking to the apron where the tarmac goes all the way to wall before pit entry, and follow the thick solid yellow line into the pit lane itself, There will be no penalty for crossing the thick yellow line, it is there as a guide,

+) Pit Exit, Everyone is to use the proper road course pit exit, The hard left turn just as you regain control of the car from the AI, once you follow that around to the straight entering turn 2 you must keep your car as close to the left as practical until turn 2 entry, failure to do this will result in the same penalty as a pit exit line infringement (30 second time penalty) or death if you happen to be hit by a car entering turn 1 at speed, Any seen blocking immediately into turn 2 after exiting the pits maybe viewed as malicious intentional actions and the penalty will be severe to potential death also,

Follow up from Spa Francorchamps,

+) The incident involving Ninners (LMP1) and Plotnik (GTE) was investigated further and due to the discovery of a failed connection between the 2 cars meant that one was visible to one driver and the other could not see him, resulting in a terrible accident, no further action will be taken,
Seems the Spa circuit is really struggling for connection stability online,

+) Use of the text box and microphones during qualifying and racing, Seriously guy's, We are fed up with telling you, Its happening far to often we have the thread here for a reason, And it seems if its not in the drivers briefing then its going to be ignored, So to save myself the hassle a penalty will apply to any further infringements,
The penalty will be that you forfeit qualifying for the next round resulting in you starting at the very back of the grid! If this problem persist's it will time penalties added,

+) Pit entry and exit violations, Far to many occurring people, get it together!

+) GTE cars, HOLD YOUR LINE! there were several incidents with LMP1 cars and GTE cars due to a failure to do this, If you are going to move over make your actions clear very early, I can appreciate getting out of the way can be difficult, BUT! that isn't your job, It is the LMP1 drivers job to get by you cleanly without contact, and due to people trying to do the "right" thing its caused more issues then needed,

LOOKING FORWARD TO DAYTONA,

Notes to remember,

+) We have a new LMP1 driver by the name of RedBullRider20, Welcome, He will be taking the seat of the Audi R8 '05, I TDZdave will be dropping down to GTE and using the Corvette C5R,

+) Keep bunched under pace lap,

+) Text box and headset use during qualifying or racing are strictly prohibited! we aren't messing around now,

+) Ensure you understand the circuit specific rules regarding the start and pitting procedures,

Any questions or queries just ask, 👍 looking forward to this one,

Nope, no safety car, for what every reason I have found races with safety cars that people drive like boneheads,

Okay that is fine. We shouldn't need one anyway. Well, I might. :scared:

Test session will be happening on Wednesday at 9PM BST

Spiffing, i shall be attending this one. Also Matt, tried going around Daytona the other day using the controller, jesus christ it was awful! I would be complaining about this track so much more if i was still using it, trying to get traction coming out of the hairpins was a bloody nightmare!

Haha I tried it a bit today and was still only at a 1:30.0

Ha well you know that my "throttle control" with a controller is the exact opposite of effective, much to your amusement.
Is a 1:30.0 your pace with the wheel? cause my pace with it is at a 1:29.9, don't think i can go any faster than that on a full tank though.

I clearly need to sort the car out lol

I clearly should actually turn a lap... Although if my Spa pace is anything to go by, I should hold off until the day before and then discover I can go almost a second faster ;)

I haven't practiced for over a week,and probably won't until Friday.

As at Spa,I'm aiming for a top 6 finish, hopefully I have a trouble free time.

Can't make any test sessions in the near future,as I'm very busy so the PS3 will only be used on Friday(from 4pm) ,all through Saturday,Sunday(until 8pm).

Finally able to do 1:44.xxx-1:43.xxx Thanks Memto!

My guesses a LMP will go to wide on Bus Stop and crash into the far barrier

Im quicker but it feels unstable at the bus stop. Like last night on your tune i spun out 5 times at the bus stop lol. Ill need to get more used to.

Move the ballast forwards it will slow you down but the car will feel more stable

Well the upshot from the test is that LMP race pace is around the low 1.31s, GTE is about 1.44s. I think the biggest revelation is quite how much time can be gained in the draft; including time lost in the infield washout, there seems to be around 0.8XXs to be gained around the oval. Get the impression we'll be buddying up in quali! Haha

And the medium tyres are evil and try and spit you off every lap at the chicane!

This is where my setup will take hold as my car is very stable on the meds and the softs but im just not as fast on the softs

I wont be able to do 1 stint for 45ish minutes with Mediums here :(.

most people split the meds and do 20 mins on one set pit in and do the next 20 mins, that way you dont lose overall time with the tyres falling off

Mmm, The Jag likes worn tires. Sometime i was able to get loads of grip. But after tires are under 45ish% i need to pit

My BMW understeers abit on softs so on Mediums I get good front grip, but a slightly tail happy car on corner exits, its my setup style,I'm fine with abit of understeer or oversteer, but in an LMP car I prefer a little understeer,so you don't fall off on mediums.

Also what would be great in quali is if you catch a GTE on the oval straights you get to pick up a nice tow.
