So are we allowed to modify transmission? Gonna do some laps tonight with my Cobra.

No like I stated in the OP, it MUST be accessed from arcade and must have SS tyres.

Like any volatile relationship, went through stages of elation and hatred, even a bit of violence . I've certainly learnt a lot about the mighty Cobra doing this and was finally getting consistency. Could easily get into 46s if I had a bit more time.

@ryk - what I have learnt about this circuit is that I would rather be watching from a yacht drinking cocktails than driving round it in anger.

Great improvement! Glad you.managed to find some extra time, well done 👍

Hi guys just wanted to make you aware that this weeks comp ends in 8 hours, so begin putting your final laps in while you still can. Next week will be the BMW M3 coupe at GVS, tyre choice is undecided.

Also, there will be a new fortnightly driving skill competition (first comp begins later today!) which will run in tandem with the WDSC, every fortnight a different car and tyre choice will be selected and it will be run at nordschiefle every week. Both the WDSC and FDSC will run at the same time, so you won't ever get bored! So every month, 4 WDSC's will be run and 2 FDSC's, what do you think of the idea guys?
I think it will allow people to do more than just the WDSC, and also have a chance to really learn the infamous nurburgring. 👍

Best idea I've seen here in ages!! Love the 'ring! 👍 👍

I will be updating the tinesheet and posting final top 5s and overall top 10s later today (approx 9pm BST (GMT +1))

Thanks! Have you heard about the FDSC? If not check one of my previous posts in this thread and see what you think :D

Fantastic!👍

SH Tyres for the M3!

Fantastic!👍

Great, the car is gonna be TVR tamora for the FDSC and R8 at GVS for the WDSC, what do you think if the combos? :)

Edit: was gonna be m3 but was too slow so tried r8 and it handled similarly to the m3 but had a bit more speed making it more exciting to drive.

Good choice of cars and tracks.

tyre choice will be crucial as always.

Has the overall standings sheet been updated yet?

Both cars will be on a sports tyre, thats all I'm saying for now.
NJ72 will update the sheet tonight when the competition has finished, he will then post in this thread the top 5 wheel/ds3 users and overall top ten.

Just FYI:

Fortnight isn't commonly used in NA...means 14 days.

So drivers what have you learnt so far in this tax haven? Any driving tips you would give yourself if you could step back in time 7 days?

Does the AC Shelby Cobra have some unique qualities that make it easier, harder to chuck about here?

Any of the corners you used to find really hard but now you have got its number and can treat it more like an old friend than a hated enemy?

At first I thougth: :scared: this is going to be a terrible track/car combo. Could barly drive this car in a straigth line, and Monaco is a very twisty track.

But the SS tires made the Cobra quite driveable. It´s not a trackmachine but good fun. It likes to drift.
The track is slow and technical. It´s very easy to hit the walls if you miss your lines. Go slow in to the corners and fast out.

My favorite part is massanet-Casino-Mirabeau. Tricky, but quite satisfying when you manage to get it right.
The part that I find difficult is from Tabac to the exit of Piscine. It´s where I loose time. Never manage to get the flow in that part.

I´m looking forward to this. Great pick LMP787B 👍

Now off to make my last try on the Cobra...

Not going to have time to run this again before time runs out. Any chance of keeping track of post-week times? I plan on coming back to this car/track often.

Looking forward to next weeks challenge. Like the idea of FDSC, but alternate between the rings: Nordy and Cape?

You can still submit a tine after the event has finished to see where you would have stood in the comp, however times submitted will not be added to the leaderboard doc after the event had finished, but by all meand keep running it.

And it is a possibility, perhaps two nurburgrings for every cape ring. Although the ring is much better IMO.

Right guys I am just about to create the first fortnightly driving skill competition! So please check it out and give it a go!

It helps to be persistent. Just made a new personal best:

Driver: no1pal
Time: 1:44.333
Transmission: MT
Controller: DFGT
ABS: 1

Yeeah :dopey:

Great lap, i'm glad you managed to beat my time!

Also check out the FDSC everyone! It has just gone live and can be found under the 'gran turismo 5' section of the forums!

You forgot to update my 1:43.998 ;)

Nj72 will be updating all the times at 10pm gmt, so the event is still open for another 2 hours. A tandem competition however has just gone live, it's called the FDSC.

One way to giv the contest an extra bit of life would be to make a nice target table compared to the winners time.

Then work out target times relative to this "ultimate time"
Work out the time, divide by 100 and give a score for eachlap.

so lets say the best time was 1m40 seconds

that would mean every 1 second over the time you score 1 point.... The aim is to score low.
1m40 - 1m40.99 - 0 points
1m41 - 1m41.99 - 1 point
1m42 - 1m42.99 - 2 points

as it is percentage based the track length isn't the issue.

Then you can play games such as Best 2 from 3.
Jump in the car and you have to drive JUST 3 laps, but you only score for your best two laps, so you can have one bad lap. If you muff your first lap then the pressure is on to get two clean laps on the final go.

Great ideas will definetly consider them in the FDSC!

Well the lap was far from flawless, this half a second improved lap time is still far from perfect, but it will do for now;)

Amazing lap dude, so smooth you make the car look like it's only got 200BHP lol.

one question though, how do you record your replays? it's brilliant quality
