week 4 driving skill competition - cobra 427 @ cote d'azur

Hi guys, welcome to week 4 of the driving skill competition. This is the new weekly competition where driving skill is everything. Each week a stock car and track is chosen the car CANNOT be tuned or modified in anyway as to give an advantage over others.

This week is the Cobra 427 at cote d'azur and tyre choice is SPORTS SOFT. All aids are to be turned off except ABS on 1. Transmission choice is down to you.

Brake balance can only be adjusted if you are driving with ABS off, if you are using ABS on 1 you must keep the default brake balance.

This is an offline competition and you can do anytime, just choose the car through arcade mode then select the track. Everybody Is free to enter.

Please send in your best lap time stating whether you used ds3 or wheel (lap must not have gone red).

When sending your times in please could you use the following format:

Driver: GTP name/PSN name
Time:
Transmission: Auto/Manual (if manual state whether clutch used)
Controller: DS3/wheel
ABS:
Brake Balance: Front/Rear (only applicable if ABS is off)

Also, just a suggestion, but how about a change of the thread title so that WDSC is that the beginning instead of *new*? just after 4 weeks and nearly 3 members a week i'd say we're not new anymore :sly:

Good to see you here supersic, the cobra on the sports soft is actually really well balanced!

Yup, you reply to the thread using the format listed in the OP and then the times are added to the chrome spreadsheet 👍

Track guide about to be written.

I actually won the historic racecar event in my steroid filled Cobra while in ASPec.

That was a good day to beat up Chaparral 2J's. - Cracking way to win my Lancia Stratos too.

Doin' my happy dance.

I'll put some laps in tomorrow. I have to paint today/tonight. I could use my times from my testing this car/track/tyre combo earlier, but I think the time should be set only while the TT is active. Can't wait to see the times come rolling in.

This should be fun, if it weren't for this competition I would never have bothered learning Manual Gears on DS3, its so much better, even crappy cars are good to drive plus its better for drifting!

Hmm yeah, still looking forward to put in a ton of laps on this weeks event. Anybody done any laps yet so we can see some times to aim for? Good luck everyone 👍

Ok. I did 3 laps and was looking at 1:51.5xx so I would expect 1:47s and below from the fast drivers fairly early on.

Always fun in the Cobra, quite a generous tyre choice and not too much grip.

I've just set a 1:47.739 on my forth lap.

The grip isn't all that bad, it turns in well. You can take your time around the corners and get on the power steadily and still get a very quick exit, which is good if you're not as confident getting the slip to work for you. So much more fun than the last two weeks, the Jag was ok, but it's nice to leave tyre marks all over the place and still be pretty quick

One problem I've noticed is the chicane can be slightly cut, it is hard to say if there's much in it, not that I don't think everyone who has competed so far has been completely sporting though. We could make it compulsory to send replays, but that's a bit of a fuss and doesn't really fit with this being less serious.

I just hope everybody plays sensibly and that they don't feel they have to cheat to be competitive. Looking forward to do some laps later when I am back at home 👍

I'll have to login to get my exact time but was running low 1:48s when I parked the car for the night.

I didnt post it up because I thought I was off the pace by 10sec or more. I think there's alot of time hidden in this beast. Unfortunately it's not going to be me who finds it :-(

Haha great lap! First person under 1:45! Fanastic driving! 👍, seems like I need to learn all the names of the corners! 1:39.xxx would be amazing, i'd eat my own face if someone did that, now I'm just praying nobody does otherwise I have some eating to do! Anyway well done
