i wish i had some replays so i could figure out what i am doing wrong on this track

Well I've been practising a bit and T1= 17.650 and T2= 56.622. I don't think my last sector is as fast as it should be though.

Buffalo, I find that holding corner speed is pretty important with this car. The bumps do make it difficult. Sorry I don't have any replays.

18.987 / 59.198

over 1.6 secs off my overall time.

The car still has only 78 miles on it and no tuning yet.

I think I have found my new favorite non-RUF car.

Did i mention I love this car.

:)

hey buffalo, join the club, ive got my t1 at a low 18.xx but still getting a horridly slow 1.oo.xx t2. i still need some work, but at least my times are improving every time i practise. keep plugging away at it man!

Here's an update, there is still a few places that i can go a bit faster:
T1-18.533
T2-57.764

This challenge made me realise how much i hate this car.I have constant oversteer especially on this track with it's high curbs. This morning i have been fiddling with the setups for about 2 and half hours but i can't seem to get the oversteer out of the car.

Hey, Scuderia229,
You might want to back off any further WRS races for a bit after this one.

If what you described is what I think it is, messing with that wheel ain't going to help you none.

Add to that, see a doctor about it. If you don't get it treated, you may not be using that wheel (or a controller, for that matter) in the not too distant future.

Now, back on topic, I LOVE this track.....the car: Dunno. Haven't played with it much to have an opinion.

At least Eggman and I have some recent experience with this track. We had a race in GTRC Lite that was ran at Seattle II.

AAK, this car does not suit me at all...suckus maximus :(

Anyway I've got a 18.3 / 57.3 for now, been close to 56's, but none clean yet.

What helped me most is changing my driving style rather than the car (to a point). I always brake while turning into the corner, but on this car that is a big no-no:grumpy: I get much better sectors by braking early and straight, than powering through the turn, giving good exit speeds:cool: Maybe I can come up with a setup that will allow me to go back to my usual style, but it doesn't look too good right now...

Well after reading that I actually started to play around with that, as I don't think I've ever touched it before. Lowering the ASM actually felt like it freed the car up more = faster laps for me

This all sounds fishy to me...you're NOT using turbos are you? If you're going to submit times like that I really hope you have some form of proof. Those times are most likely possible, but it's easy for anyone on the internet come along and submit some made-up times. We've already had our fair share of people entering bogus times over the past year...sorry to have to be a dick about it but it does get tiresome:rolleyes: Anybody that can runs laps like that KNOWS that NOBODY uses ASM except in the rarest of occasions. If you are really that good I'm sure you'll be happy to prove me wrong and give me the proper ass-whipping I deserve, as it won't be the first time and it won't be the last.

Later everyone:cool:

CarbonFiberMan,

I was waiting for someone to ask about those times. If I was reading those from your position I'm sure I'd also be very suspicious. I'm definitely not using turbos. I'm racing in this series because I found people who are very likey to beat me, I'm not racing just to win. I will try and get a video of some sort with a digital camera tomorrow, as I don't have an xport (yet;)). I only discovered this board a while ago but have been playing GT for some time.

That setup I posted a while back is quite a long way from the one I have at the moment. I use the driving style that you have suggested naturally, and I have been practicing a bit on this track. I've got 800 km on the lotus so far, and I bought it for this event. Thats around 207 laps if I'm not mistaken :).

Anyway, my fastest lap at the moment is with sectors of 18.2 and 57.05  . Actually gained .15 on my final time over the lap I posted earlier. :)

I'm here just to have fun. :)

Don't worry about getting a camera as that's not really proof to anyone, as long as people do things like wallride, build hybrids, and use gamesharks, etc. The X-Port (Sharkpoprt in USA) is really the only way to go to get a solid reputation in the OLR world. They can be order through the internet at a fair price, just use the search button and you can find the info easily. I'm glad to see a civilized response, which at least shows you have some integrity:) I know there are at least half a dozen guys that could come in here and throw down a 56 within a short amount of time, but of course we all know who they are and they always post their replays for all to see, so new guys are always viewed with skepticism until they do the same. To be honest, I hope you are very good, we're always looking for more competition for sure:trouble:

So post that setup so we can all run 56's:p I'd post mine but it flat out sucks IMO:irked:

Thanks for having an open mind. I have eyed-out (grammmar?) a few sources on ebay for an xport. This setup works best for me when braking before a corner and powering through. I've probably only completed 5% of the laps I've started- too much throttle on the exit leads to a wall bounce really easily.

Here goes: Front/Rear

Spring rate : 8.6/8.3
Ride height : 76/76
Damper: ----/----
Bound: 4/4
Rebound: 8/8
Camber: 1.0/1.0
Toe: -1.0/0.0
Stabiliser: 4/4

Brakes: 18/18

LSD Initial: 0/5
LSD Acceleration: 0/5
LSD Decrease: 0/5

Gear Ratio: Standard 1st to 6th
Final 4.200
Auto Level 23

ASM: Level 5
TCS: Level 0

Tyres: T8/T8

See how it goes, I'm open to any feedback on the setup.

Well I had to have a few more laps before bed. Since my last post I decided to change a few things in my setup which seem to be working, and allow me to use "my" driving style a bit easier. In fact they look a bit similar to Hotrod 269's, except for the ride height. I'll give that one a try later, thanks for posting it! And if your completing 5% of your laps you're well ahead of me!

New clean save:
18.281 / 56.888

Here's my setup for anyone who'd like to give it a rip:

8.0 / 8.0
115 / 115
8/8/8/8
3.0 / 2.5
2.0 / 1.0
6/7

24/24

LSD 5/40/10

Gears Auto 22 then adjust:
5th to 1.150
6th to .975

I really have to go to bed now:lol:

hey,
i try hotrod's setup and i think it's verry good!
clean lap:
T1:18.215
T2:56.868

my fastest t1 was 17.6 sec, same as you hotrod:D,but then i blew the lap:banghead:

Well guys, those times are fallin fast aren't they. ;)

I know the times posted are possible, so I'm not really suspicious.

However, I think it was scuderiaferrari that said he already ordered a xport. 👍
Good move, just like cfm said, the only way to get legitimate respect here is with an xport, otherwise, people just wouln't believe your times. (especially if they are fast)

Then there is hotrod... you're looking into getting an xport, right?
Good, that is a really good idea.
First off, it will prove everything you want to prove, and second, it will show us all how in the world you could run with 0tcs and 4asm. (that's crazy if I've ever heard of crazy...)
(no one uses asm.) (tcs, eh whatever, no problems with that setting, 0tcs is no big deal. )

Oh yeah, and there's gtchamp2003... you will get to use your brothers xport to show your times as well. 👍
When do you guys think you will get it?

Anyway, glad to see so many of you are interested in running with the gang and not causing troubles while you do it. Xports help greatly in doing that. 👍

btw, gtchamp2003, if you really are faster than your brother, you may need to move into the pro division.

Anyway, catch you guys later. :D

It's the other way around GoKents.I ordered the X-port and he will be using it aswell.
Just one more question, can i do the initial qualifying run over.I just compared my time with my bro's and am 2 tenths faster. It's no big deal if i can't,i will get in Div 1 eventually.Like i said, the only reason i was slow at Midfield is because i haven't touched the game in 6 months and he's been playing it day in day out.

No, no rerunning the qualifier. Standardized rule.

And, um, div 1? I will decide that and that is that, so don't be too cocky.

I don't like that kind of attitude. :irked:

But since you guys are getting xports, everything will indeed work out.

You will get to prove yourself, and you will get a promotion once that occurs.

All you have to do is outclass the div2 runners.
If you can do that then you will indeed get a move in division.

Of course, now that we all know you are getting a replay device, I want to remind you to save your replays.

We take this stuff serious. :trouble:

btw, your bro didn't even qualify in div 1, I just moved him there since he had the audacity to come in and post his "far-better-than-div2" times before I ever ok'ed his participation.

But yeah, get that xport and everyone will be quiet, including me. ;)

OK. My current pace is:-

T1 - 18.312
T2 - 57.368

As long as I get some quality time over the weekend I'll get that into the 56's.

I haven't managed to eliminate all the oversteer. Quite honestly, I can cope with a car that has a lively rear end. I'm not too bothered about the setup now. It's good enough. Now all I need to do is get sector 1 right and just match my T2 and T3.

Buffalo and Boone...

I imagine you guys are braking somewhere that you don't need to in the middle sector.

The (real) corner following the tight hairpin in the middle sector is flat-out. I think the one after that needs a slight bit of braking and careful control of the back end. Also, if the back end steps out as you cross the railway tracks it doesn't matter. As long as you don't scrub off too much speed the rear slide/induced oversteer can help you around the next corner.

Definitely brake in a straight line though. A little movement is ok towards the end of braking at suitable speeds.

Hope this helps.

18.552/57.858
46 miles.

I don't like this car.

hey i know this is off topic, but since there's so much talk about it already, thought I'd might as well post it here.

what's the difference between a sharkport and an x-port? is x-port is for NTSC and sharkport for PAL?

i found an x-port for $20US, and i'm thinking of grabbing one :)

I'm out, this car is pissing me off too much.

as far as I understand it...the sharkport is the older version which is no longer made, the x-port replaced it.....they are the same thing...

well ive gotten in a few laps and so far my times are right where they should be for div 3 i think.

T1: 18.3
T2: 58.3

Hi guys,

Well after reading this I went and searched for ASM info in the settings forum, and all I can come up with is that it reduces power through a corner when losing grip, and that no-one uses it. Well I'll go and set it to zero and work from there. Thanks for the feedback ScuderiaFerrari.

Bck on topic, as I stated earlier, my fastest overall time is now with sectors of 18.2 and 57.05, shows how much difference that last sector can make :trouble:

This is tedious work!. Example= Ruin current lap - practice for the remainder of that lap - start new lap - trash it at first chicane!!

Still 57.3xx

Still think I can get it into the 56's if i give it my time. But I think it'll take me another 100 laps to do it though, and is it really worth it for a few tenths? well.... yes, but I don't know if I have the patience. Man I'm tired!!

This is correct.. It used to be that Sharkport was NTSC and X-Port was PAL, and you may still be able to find some Sharkports around, but both are called X-Port now.

Just make sure you get a NTSC one for the US. :)

After a little more practice today I managed to get a clean run of:
T1: '17.860
T2: '56.576

Still lots of places to work on and loads of time to come off.

hey thanks scuderia229 and eggman for replying about the x-port. much appreciated.

i've found an online store selling one that ships to Canada too (w/o ridiculous shipping costs), but i'm still contemplating about purchasing it.

i've got too my problems with my PS2 after i had it modded. and now that there's another disc it needs to read for the x-port to work... more concerns.

thanks again.

Thanks CarbonFiberMan for the settings they helped alot...
And thanks rayd_uk for the tips they helped as much or maybe more than the settings but together i was able to run
t1 18.6 t2 59.1

Sorry to hear that T, it isnt a bad little car, just a bit skittish in some places

best lap: 17.9/57.1, Ive still got some work to do I see

No laps tonight, instead went for a 13.2 mile run. Gotta get myself back in shape for my racing season (I race skateboards semi pro). All winter on my butt playing GT3 killed me...hahaha.

this lotus still rocks!
