Week 93: Time To Relax!

I still haven't turned TCS on this week, but if Niels and K2 say it helps I might consider using it 💡
 
This is such a wonderful combo, I can't put the controller down! Its pretty damned frustrating too, I know there's oodles of time I'm leaving out there, but this Tuscan has a tail that wags like a dog that's been given a new toy, a stick and a bone all at the same time!!!! Tremendous fun!!!

Now have slightly slower at T1, but faster everywhere else, clean lap of...
(& I've also thrown away a T1 of 25.4xx and T2 of 56.8xx :yuck: )

T1 25.884
T2 57.393
T3 1'24.360 👍 with TCS on.

Still a massive gulf to Hugo, MrP and Mrdpunto though.... gotta keep trying!

Managed to find some time to turn some not-so-hot laps...

Got my clean down some, new T times...

T1 - 25.582 (seen clean 25.273)
T2 - 57.113
T3 - 1:24.112

Still lots of time out there even for me!!!
 
How are you taking the first turns to get that T1? The best I can manage is about 25.7.
 
I'm breaking to then 'throwing' my car to the left just after the last big 'shadow' that creeps on the track on the right.

This crudely gets me to the inside where sometimes I can accelerate and 'stick it' in regards to not going two wheels off in the next sweeper...

I then brake just before the ripple strip coming into the left/right, turn the car in and use the speed it has remaining hopefully trying to hit the left ripple strip, if I've scrubbed too much speed I can feather the throttle a little.

I continue to feather throttle and turn right trying again to get as close to the right as possible, at about the apex I full throttle, trying to avoid the grass/wall then you have T1.

Sometimes it works sometimes it don't but why not attack it... ;)

P.S. That's how I do it, Mr P and Hugo Boss and mrdpunto may do it some other way...
 
Thanks man, I appreciate the help, I think with a better T1 I can get it into the 1:23's on T3. Looks like you'll be shooting for that too.

Edit: With hellnback's help and much better lines through the 2nd sector I've managed a 1:24.4 at T3 and about .5 off the final time. I really think I can get into the 23's now.
 
I'm not really a big an of this combo. I don't really like to drive cars that need to be manhandled so much to do what you want them to. I'll turn in my time for now and try something else that's hopefully more enjoyable, no point grinding the old thumbs to a pulp for a few more tenths, if that.:ouch: I tried the DFP but it's an ugly sight on this combo.:lol:

Wondered when Tannis was gonna pop their head around the corner... and by the looks of his T3 time four people are going to be mighty close at the end of all this...

Ran abit this arvo, I've got a slightly quicker lap saved but one part probably needs an opinion, dun matter that much cause it ain't that much quicker...

Starting to get sub 25.5's regularly on T1 and this is resulting in seeing some high 56's for T2 and high 1:23's for T3, but dunno how much more time I'll have to run the combo... maybe I'll find some somehow, probably by neglecting something else :D

only plyed rround 2 to 3h.
my T's PB are T1 25.3xx T2 56.xxx T3 1'23.7xx
My best lap T3 1'23.7xxx and i think i'm losing time on the last corner.

So many good T1s blown more or less immediately after seeing 25.3xx come up!

Now at
T1 25.568
T2 57.030
T3 1'23.938
and 0.4s gone at the finish line.
Much happier about that!
 
Tonight was a great evening :grumpy:
1) I erased all my saved laps except the fastest one
2) I discovered there was a 1 km/h drop at the exit of first tunnel due to wall brushing, which I hadn't seen when I first checked.

So I drove about an hour to get a similar T3 (1'25.663 while my best was 1'25.669) and an awful final sector in which I lose half a second on my best time :ouch:
Time submitted since I'm away in Belgium until next Friday.

A few questions though ...

Are you changing down to 3rd for the first bend after the start/finish line or keeping it in 4th?

I'm also finding it tricky at the corner before T2. It's hard to get a decent line through here. Are you going round in 2nd or 3rd?

Down to third. I'm finding it's faster to brake a bit more, take a later apex and minimize sliding (as opposed to hanging on for dear life drifting it).

I'm guessing you mean the right between the two tunnels? I'm taking it in second. This is one where drifting seems the way to go. Make sure you catch the rumble strip, and use second gear to push the car around.

Did some running this morning and after a couple of laps where I got close to my quickest lap, I totally lost my rythym and wasn't even getting close...

So I loaded up the ghost, and within 10mins hit a new quickest...

T1 - 25.412
T2 - 57.134
T3 - 1:23.950

It took 0.15 off my total lap time, and the last corner is still not 'tight', I've managed to make up 0.25 on it on other runs...

Exellent combo, too bad I only got two atempts.Will shurly be one of the slowest this week :indiff: :scared: :grumpy:

My mechanics couldnt get that Tuscon on the track following my high speed off, turn 1 on saturday night, completly smashed on alkohol!

Had no time to race this weekend and this evening my driving was crap. I wanted 4 more tenths, but couldn't get it together. So no improvement :grumpy: . My time probably won't be as competitive as last week, but I had fun anyway 👍

👍 Very nice NielsG, you have been getting much faster lately. I'm gonna have to give this one another try.

Time submitted at 1:24.5. This really wasn't my race at all.
