Note: This thread is a review of drift cars and i will be reviewing one car a week. Right now I Just want to see how this plays out.
All test were done with a DFP 900.

S15 Car review
When I first picked up the S15 to drift, I knew I was in for a treat. I first tested this car stock with “economy tires (N1)”

Balance: Overall this car is a somewhat balanced machine… There’s noticeable under steer and some over steer qualities, but the suspension is very complex.
I liked how I was able to throw the car into the corner and just drift threw in 2nd gear after downshifting from 3rd gear. The S15 has a pretty good power band with 250hp at the crank, which are enough to take this thing sideways and then some.

I recommend this car to beginners and advanced drifters it’s a great learning tool in stock form.

hope you liked the first review... More soon with greater detail.

That's a good idea ryen. I think we should have a series of these. Maybe not all individual threads(That would be a few hundred) but this is something that could be very helpful for new drifters and people new to the world of GT.

Good thinking!

yeah i'm thinking about making a team and having them all review one car then make thier comments in one well layed out thread. and we can do that every week but just post in hte same thread with helpful links and a good layout.

hah, this is excellent 👍

i think its a great idea, it may open new doors to those whohave skimmed past a car unintentionally, not realizing its potential.

and it will most likely bring up a few good discussion topics

maybe a rating system out of 10 or something, then compile the stats into a table and see what the chosen reviewers' top drift pics are.
(hehe sorry, i'm all about statistics :sly: )

I usually don't particulary like to drift, or tamper around with suspension to make a car a drift car.... but with one of the license tests on El Capitan I found out that the SL600 might be a sweet car to use for drifting. Incredible sound from screaming tires when sliding through a corner. Needs some tweaking to make this a drift car, but it might be a sweet next car to examine for you. :D

Come on, if your going to review, let's see some more information like Top Gear and Fifth Gear reviews. :p

You should definitely have the 1-10 rating scale, but you should do the ratings for each aspect of the car, then discuss why you gave it that rating. For instance you could rate the low speed driftability, high speed drifting, overall handling, power band (good horsepower all through the RPMs, or do you need to keep the RPMs up high? etc.), the racing potential for the car, and even make recommendations for which tires to use with each car for different applications (i.e. racing drift vs. show drift).

Also, I noticed you're doing these reviews of the car while stock, out of curiosity, will they all be like this? I'm wondering if you should enlist the help of other people to write reviews for the same car at different modification levels. What I mean is one person write a review of it while stock, another person writes a review of it with the basic upgrades (the "sports" parts) and have another person write a review of it with all the best modifications done to it, maximum horsepower, suspension, and braking capability.

Just some food for thought. 💡

Ohoho! Now we're getting somewhere. Maybe video reviews with commentary?
i'm gonna do video commentary for next weeks which i'm working on now. But yeah this is going to be best motoring like. Plus not all of the cars will be stock just some , others might be tuned you never know.

not sure... swift said I should get TEAM IDM to work on all of this... I"m still in the planning stages.

Yep, I said that as I wouldn't want to break up any teams that already exist. I'm not saying "nobody else but IDM can do a review" but we shouldn't form a new team for this. PDR, FBI or whatever other team should be able to contribute as well as individuals. Maybe form a "panel" of reviewers. Just not something that's an official team.

Though I do think it's a great idea as I stated earlier.

yeah its easier to do this and manage under my existing team rather than be part of two teams etc.

oh nice! u guys have the same idea as us 👍 i suggest u can also make a website , it will be easier to organize them

That's not a bad idea either. 👍

I can help in any way possible. I cannot do any video capturing, but I can do voice overs and write reviews. Anything to help the project along.

I agree, Ryen. It is quite an exceptional car.

I bought it used and messed around in arcade mode for the better part of an hour.

Not a bad idea Ryen49. Why not chuck in some video replays as well?

There's a line that I wanna get down.

When I do, I'll record the replay and post it.

How's that?

Hrmh... Im out for 3 day's planning on my own idea of the same kidn as this and this i what happen's... Oh well, this is what you get if you plan waaaaayyy too long.. :indiff:

Well, i believe i can throw my own idea of this here to give some idea what could be good... 💡 (im not good explainer but ill try..)

My idea were to make a video of 1 car or 2 car's which are evenly balanced, take them out on the track for a test and write what i think of the car's.
It would go something like this:

Only one car at a time.
1. Spec's of the car and some tought's what's the car's first impression when first seen.
2. Take the car to the track for a grip test drive.
3. Review of the car's handling, accelration etc. during the grip test drive.
4. Take the car to the track for a drift test drive.
5. Review of the car's drifting capabilities, handling during a drift etc.
6. Last word's/tought's of the car

Two car's at a time.
1. Spec's of the car's and some tought's what's the car's first impression when first seen.
2. Take both cars, one at a time, to the track for a grip test drive.
3. Review of the car's handling, accelration etc. during the grip test drive.
4. Take both cars, at the same time, to the track for a grip race for comparing.
4. Take the car's, one at a time, to the track for a drift test drive.
5. Review of the car's drifting capabilities, handling during a drift etc.
6. Last word's/tought's of the car's

The car/car's would be stock in the "testing". I were also thinking about Tuning them fully to see what kind a car's they are when they are fully tuned.

In my opinion, comparing two evenly balanced car's would be really interesting. It would be nice to see how, let's say for an bad example, a Honda Civic Sir-II '92 would stack against an Toyota Celica SS-II '99 or how a Mazda RX-7 RZ would stack against an Toyota Supra RZ. As stock car's of course.

But good luck with this 👍

Ps. Im more than interested joining this since i were planning same thing on my own ;) 👍

::EDIT::
I just remembered one thing... As stated before, a web site would be really helpfull and good to be. Just wanted to say that too :)

i'm still debating if I should keep this project IDM members only or allow anyone to be apart of this. I don't want to be selfish ,but I have alot of plans about this, plus I plan on making a website page on mysite with all of this info and comprehensive guides.

I would say that making it IDM only would limit the amount of valuable input from other very good drifters. IDM is good, quite good, but we don't know everything. Let's not back ourselves into a corner.

Can PDR help?

I guess every week for reviews I'll ask certain people if they want =to review a car.. Right now I Think Slurp is doing the s15 and I'm already working on another review myself but I'll figure it out today.
