We aren't dragging skylines this week. Maybe some other week?

However to answer your question. I've yet to drag any 4WD cars except the Ford RS200. But my Fastest drag is a Dodge Viper @ 8.633 with a stock tranny(yes I'm proud of my tranny :dopey: ).

Meanwhile, back to the Saleen...

Got the damn thing down to 8.699 with my own setup. With the setups being talked about on this thread I got it down to 8.601

That'll do me for the week.

Hey guys,

I just got back into GT4 again, and drag racing is my current obsession.

I was going to start my own thread but I came across this.

Here's what I was wondering - could we make a set of rules....something like this.

- new car every week (like you guys are doing it already)
- the run must be done on N3 tires, with NO TCS!
- The exact car will be chosen then the sky is the limit for what you want to do to it.

I like to race a realistically as possible, it's funner and a better challenge that way.

This was how I was going to set up my lil weekly drag comp, but since I came across this I thought maybe it could be incoporated. It would make the weekl competition more challenging and bring out some skill instead of just mashin the Throttle and Nitrous and timing your shifts right.

Anyone have any thoughts?

If no one likes my idea, I'll prolly just go ahead and make my own thread.

Cheers,

Wayne

The only thing that would be "more challenging" from your suggestions would be the no TCS, for me anyway. The most skill, no matter what the drag competition, it getting the right setup, timing the launch, nitrous, and gear changes. Look at most any drag racing series. It's "mashin the Throttle and Nitrous and timing your shifts right."

We already do this, as you said.

This does nothing except lower the overall times and the TCS might at some more challenge to getting off the line and getting a quick time.

Actually, thats how this weeks race is being ran. I'm not sure, but I'm sure Kenny will try to add more challenges such as restricting what parts we can use or specifying what parts to use.

As for my time right now: No change >_<. 🤬

Oh well, I think a better way to put what I was going for is more of a "street legal" type drag racing or something along those lines.

Launch RPM, throttle control after the launch, when to use nitrous as well as how strong, adjusting center diff, weight balance, ballast, front/rear diffs, suspension, gear ratios, Torque/hp curve and shift points all need to be find tuned for the best run.

Like for example me and my buddy were dragging the 91 skyline GTR. We were getting low 11's when we started and couldn't break the 11's, that was just touching the gear ratios, we tried for awhle. Then later in the night I touched all the things above and I manage to pull it to 10.236 on N3's and no TCS. With TCS I pull 10.2xx. So It's also improved my skill drastically by doinh in this way.

I know I'm just stating the obvious, so I don't really know what I'm trying to say but I dunno, I guess I'll just jump in the next challenge and see what I can do.

Cheers,

Wayne

Thanks for the info Deuce!

I was heading in that direction and had already softened up the rear end. The next thing was to get the car to squat. Your info just saved me a lot of testing.. thanks.

Ran a few more passes...

8.565

Kind of fun to get results of setting tests in less than 10 seconds instead of a full lap.

Wayne, those are some good ideas. Each week I will try to make it different in one way or another 👍

.... ... :sly: I've finally done it!!! Using a completly standard tranny, I got my Viper to run an 8.469. I hit the NO2 a little late and it got knocked my time from an 8.633 to the 8.469. Must try with the Saleen.

Ok it doesn't work so well with the S7, well it does, but the whole stock tranny deal doesn't work for this race. Ran a 9.053 with the stock tranny. My current time is 8.585. A lil' better on my timing and I'll get the car faster.

EDIT: OK. I'm done. It's 1:44 AM here and I need to go to sleep. Gotta work tommorow and no time for GT4 on Thursday so my final time will be: 8.585.

Great time - got me by 5 thousandths right now.

I just spent a couple hours running my formula. I'd love to do this car for a week, but then people will complain that they have to do a 24 hour race to get it. Oh well....

I'd love to do the Formula, it's already pretty good. Another "car" I'm interested in is the trucks. I'd love to see how fast I could get one of those.   Those or the Jag XJ220, but thats a 700K+ car

Well, if a large majority of you guys can do the formula then say so. If people can't, though, we don't do it yet.

I still can't improve my time with the S7 so I'll let my earlier time stand - 8.601

I wouldn't mind giving the Formula a go - might do that now. Truck dragging? Nah! Try the Aussie cars :) 👍

At least I'm not suggesting we drag something like the model T or the Motor Carage(sp?).

Yeah, that would be "drag behind" rather than "drag race"

I'd go for something with 200-300hp. No horsepower mods, but anything else goes.

But if the F1 is the choice then let's go for it.

WDS Week 1 Results

DeuceofClub 8.494
Canoe 8.565
darkwind 8.585
kennythebomb 8.590
somebody 8.601
ls2_297 9.915

I did not recieve any PM's so those are the only valid times I saw in this thread.
DeuceofClub, you are the winner. Congratulations! Please post your setup in this thread.

I already posted my settings, I did some changes to push it under 8.5 but when I checked today the car still have to old ones.
I guess I forgot to save the game after the run.

The only major change that I remember is launching the car at 3rd instead of 4th so the gearbox was set differently (I’m pretty sure the Auto, final and 6th gears are the same)

If anyone have a major problem with my time let me know, I have the replay saved; and with some effort can upload it. (My home computer refuses to run the SharkPort program so it isn’t very convenient)

[EDIT] I think I also raised the TCS to 5 or 6 [/EDIT]

It's ok, it's close enough. I'm really surprised having the TCS that high was faster!

Nice run everyone!

I had a great time running the straight line!

My settings started the same as Deuce and then went from there.
I ran TCS at 5 and launched in 2nd then went through 3rd and 4th to the finish.

The transmission was key and will always be in such a short race.

This will be a good race series to learn how to set up the transmissions!

See you all in the F1!

Can e drag fully tune 3000GT's..I have a 7.900 '95 MR with only 838 hp...maybe we can race thos..I'd love to see a sub 7.9

So, what kinda times are you guys getting with the Formula car?

I'm going to go see what I can put down right now actually.

Wayne, you can check what everybody is running in this thread.

Looking forward to what you can tweak the Formula to :)
