This week we will be running the Formula car at Las Vegas.
You may do anything you like to the car to get the lowest possible time.
No one expressed any opposition to using this car so sorry if you don't have it, but if you have time you can run the 24HR race at Nurburgring to win yourself a Formula car.

Standard OLR rules apply. Touching walls is prohibited but you probably won't hit a wall on your fastest run. No cheating whatsoever.

If you win, at the end of the week you will be required to post a full setup.

You may post your times in this thread or PM me, doesn't matter either way.

Today is July 8th and this will end midnight on July 14th.

Get going! Remember the winner will be required to post a full setup (so we can all learn from you).

Proof is not necesarry but it is advisable to save the replay right after you do a great run.

The Deuce doesn’t have an F1 car yet, GL everyone, see you all next week.

Sorry to hear that :(

If you had posted in the week 1 thread that you didn't have a formula, I wouldn't have chose it. Sorry about that dude!

Hopefully you can win it in time.

Set it low in the back, high in the front and put a really squishy back shocks.

Then work on the tranny and TCS.

I won't be getting to the track until Monday or Tues.

Have fun everyone!

8.544

Using the stock tranny settings. Everything else was suspension adding weight to the back and adjusting TCS. I'd post a more detailed setup... but I'm running a Viper around the Test course. I'm trying to get it to 50K miles and then I'm gunna see how fast I can get it. I'm currently on lap 262 and have 1812 miles on the car.

The tranny makes a huge difference on this car, as far as I have noticed.

Good luck on the Viper

I'm down to 8.353

Is it better to put the rear of the car higher or lower? I'm not seeing a big difference either way but I know the front has to be raised.

The idea is to get the weight as low as and onto the rear wheels as quickly as possible thereby providing more mechanical grip. If the car is setup with the weight already there then the suspension doesn't have to take care of the transfer during launch.

The F1 is already low slung at the front and rear and ou may not see much difference in times with the rear higher or lower.

Push on!

Has anone seen anthing close to breaking 8s?

Thanks for that. I thought that would be the way it is but testing it in the game is kinda dodgy as runs done with identical setup can vary by 0.1 seconds.

As for breaking 8's, kenny's come closest with 8.1xx. I've just improved to 8.282 but I can't see how to go any faster.

I made a 8.39x but I don't know what I could do to improve my time. I am new to drag so any help on settings and/or draging (like to start from 2nd gear) would be really nice

Good times guys!

I'll post my full setup (very similar to Deuce's for week 1)

Yay.First :)

Now watch Kenny make some uber setup and run a 7.5

Give me some time sheesh... I just finally got back onto playing GT4. Had some... Other... games to play... that and work...

Note: I'd like to see us run some front engine cars sometime. Both weeks have been MR cars so far. ^_^

Cool, I wonder what time you'll get down to.

We will be running a much slower car next week.

Hey kenny, what gear are you launching in? I can only get a 3.389 with your setup and I launch in 3rd.

I'm currently trying to setup the tranny so I can run it in only 3rd and 4th for as long as possible so I don't lose power & time shifting.

EDIT: New fastest: 8.269 :) Only took 10 minutes to get that fast... now I'm stuck on where to go from there.

I am launching in 2nd with about 80% throttle for the first second or so.

Good time!

I'm going to get a chance to run tonight and test a few of the ideas you guys have given me. Looking forward to seeing what the F1 can do in 440 yards.

For most 6 speed cars I have tried to set the tranny and TCS for a full throttle start in either 2nd or 3rd gear. With 7 gears the F1 will probably have a few nuances to explore beyond simply full throttle and shift as close to the rev limiter as possible. I'm also concerned about getting through the quarter mile in as few gears as possible. Shifting costs time.

Not sure how many passes I'll get, but I should have enough to get a rough idea of what to try in the next session later in the week.

Later,

Sub 8s would be great

I'm gonna try a different strategy in a few minutes - hopefully someone will crack 8!

Now down to 8.255

That's as fast as I can get the sucker to go. I tried kenny's settings but couldn't get under 8.298. I mucked about with a couple of gears and lowered the ballast to 107 and made that slight improvement in time but I don't see where I can find another 0.1 seconds.

im in 4th so far, im gonna try a couple more things before i call it quits. Im so close to 8.1s its making me mad.

Also what is everyone HP when you look at the enlarged chart in the settings? I have 892HP and 289TQ and my F1 has 13561 Miles. Also im using Kennys settings and right before i cross the finish line im hitting rev limiter a few times in 7th gear.

whoohoo 8.184! I'm thinking I might lengthen 7th a little bit so it doesn't over rev so much.

....ok... lots of testing. I've finally hit 8.139. I noticed that timing is extremly important with this setup. I can't get below 8.187 now because I keep shifting to early

Edit: 🤬 🤬 🤬 :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: This car has officially annoyed the hell out of me.

Heres my final time: 8.138(yes, I actually got the car .001 faster!!!!)

I'd post my setup, but without 🤬 perfect shifting, you'll be between .1 to .5 seconds off.

I ran last night and only had time for about 5 passes.

8.287

Still a lot of work to be done in the tranny. It's going to take three or four full setup tests in order to figure out how to get the gearing and TCS correct. The fewer shifts I have the fewer times I have a chance to screw it up.

Full ballast on the rear.
Lowered the rear end.
Softened the shocks in the rear.
(Same setup as with the S7, except the tranny and TCS still need a lot of work)

I may not get another chance to run this until later in the week, but I will be sorting out which gears to launch in and I am hoping to get through the distance in 3 gears or less so that I only need to shift twice at the most.

I try to keep the RPMs in the upper part of the power band through the entire run...especially at the launch! Eliminate nearly all wheel spin and shift as close to the rev limiter as possible (unless it is way out of the power band)

I also like the idea of running this car without any ballast. The F1 is so well balanced that it makes me think the extra weight would not be as beneficial in the traction area as it would be to have a lighter car. Has anyone ran without the ballast and with the ballast to check?
