I think there is just under 40 minutes left after this post... My drag racing got rained out tonight, so I'm at home... I'm going to a friend's in a bit, but may do a few runs first to see if I can get any quicker.

And Sammy, yes, Nitrous is allowed, adding a wing can help too.

You don't have to post your setup unless you win a week, and thats only to substantiate that you're win is plausible(getting exact times is hard, but when given a setup it's easy to get close)

Exactly. No need to go through all that trouble unless you get the fastest time. However it is encouraged for all racers to share whatever part of their setup that they want to - no matter how fast/slow they are. We can all learn from each other 👍

Oops, sorry Kenny! :sly:

9.419...

I should stop doing that to ya...

Yeah, yeah "oops" lol. Nice time!

And with that....

Launch in 2nd, full nitrous, shift at 6.5K RPM every gear. You should hit 6th gear right before the finish line.

This car is all about the launch and shift times.

Funky settings... Regarding the springs and toe mostly, and the tranny a bit. Did you toy with tranny settings at all? Or just the other stuff? :) I'll see what I can manage tweaking it a bit.

Oh, and I just noticed the TCS 4... I was running 1! Kenny, what were you running?

No oil change? Me neither, but not because I tested it being better, but just because. But I'm running 550hp. How much torque does that combo provide? Mine reads 492tq in the power graph in the settings area, along with 543hp.

Edit: Actually, nevermind, you are using an oil change because I get 522hp with your settings. With the oil change, I get 541hp and 492tq, so my setup on paper had higher peak hp. I was running stage 1 turbo, and a semi-racing exhaust instead of a sports exhaust, otherwise the same.

So, I just gave your settings a whirl, with my power combination, following your shift pattern... Only managed a best of a 9.499, with multiple numbers in the middle third of 9.5xx. I mixed up the shifting a bit and dropped into lower territory. I'll swap over to your parts, and see what's up.

Edit2: Yeah, there's no way you were using those settings, shifting AT 6500 for EACH shift to come up with a 9.379, unless I'm messing something else up. I tried shifting at 7000 for each shift, and that didn't make much of a difference. Then I tried shifting at 6750 for each shift, and that lowered me down to 9.431(from a 9.461 best shifting at 6500, and 9.471 shifting at 7000). I did a 9.417 best when shifting at 7000 for 2-3 and 3-4, 6750 for 4-5 and 5-6.

I bet there's time left in there with the toe taken out, possibly changing of the spring settings(reverse them, basically), maybe adding some front bound, maybe lowering the TCS, and probably changing the gearing. And most certainly not shifting at 6500 each shift...

Wow. The Toe settings make a noticeable difference for the better(running -4/4), which is the OPPOSITE of real life, I'd think, considering you're going to have all the tires going different directions, working AGAINST each other... *sigh*

I just did a 9.277 with the toe settings on my settings(549hp instead of the 550 I WAS running though) and bumping my TCS up to 3. I could get down to at least 9.250 with further play with my gearing and TCS. That toe bothers me though, anyone have a real life explanation for that so I don't have yet another reason to be mad at the makers of GT4? FWIW, I've only been using 3rd through 6th.

I can't explain the toe either, but whatever works. As for not replicating my time, I consistently pull off 9.4s. make sure you have nitrous going from the start and you're launching in second.

I didn't touch the transmission at all, I just equipped it on the car. Got tired of trying to set it up so I just set it to default since that was when I got my best times.

What for a 9.4 do you pull off? I probably did 15 minutes worth of runs down the strip with varying shift points, trying different strategies for holding down the throttle before the light even turns green, always having the nitrous button activated before the actual launch...

Oh, and I just noticed the TCS 4... I was running 1! Kenny, what were you running?

I was running TCS 8. That's one of the first things I set, before going on to LSD and weight balance.

I'll have to try that toe out later...

If you doubt my times, since I lack a maxdrive I can only provide the following:

The picture is of my records under the Las Vegas 0-400. As you can see, the top 5 times are all winning times.

The video consists of going through my setup, and then a series of runs. The final run(starts around 2:20) shows a time of 9.405. Still a winning run using my setup.

Those are some weird settings, but if they work I guess that's what matters no matter how weird they are. 👍 Good job darkwind.

Laters,
Samantha

Thanks for going through all that darkwind, appreciate the time put into it. You didn't really have to go THAT far, but hey. 👍

I remember reading your original post and the lack of LSD settings being mentioned... So I assumed you were running at least full accell settings. But, in that video, I see that you are indeed leaving out the limited slip differential! Interesting, maybe that's the trick, allowing some extra wheelspin at times to pull yourself down the track even faster than you normally would. I'll give it a go.

Nope, I'm still not dipping below 9.46ish shifting at 6500. But, you obviously ran the time, no matter how, before the deadline, so it's all good. I just have a hunch you weren't necessarily shifting at exactly 6500rpm for every shift.

BTW, using the Semi-racing exhaust with the Sports intercooler, instead of sports exhaust with racing intercooler, gives 549hp vs 548, but the power graphs numbers don't change between the two.
