Well! Week 5 already! I can't believe how fast this series is going!

Anyway, I thought you'd all like a bit of sliiiiiiide this week, cause we're off to SSR5 Wet. ;)

THE RACE: SSR5 Wet, where, apparently, "Pavement and concrete become a black terror". Well, I suppose we'll find out, won't we? :D

THE RULES:

1. No hybrids
2. No wall riding
3. No shortcuts
4. No cheating
5. Save your replay
6. If possible, upload your replay onto the forums
7. A photo of your time is not required, but can be added if you like.
8. Please, NTCSers, don't use any of the 900hp + monsters
9. Running wide is allowed, but obviously it will slow your time.
10. The rumble strip is considered part of the track.
11. Have fun.
(If you think any more rules should be added here, PM me.)

THE DEADLINE: The dealine for your time to be in is Sunday, midnight, your time (meaning that you can race til 11:59 your local time then give me your time).

Testing will be held on the Free Run version of the course, with the actual race being held in the Hard Single Race mode. You can run the race as many times as you like to get the best time possible.

Testing officially starts now, and will finish on Friday, with racing time being all weekend.

You can discuss all of your intermediate times, but not you're whole lap. You can give generalisations, ie "I got down below 1'20", but not specific lap times.

Go have some good fun! :D

This should be interesting...

Indeed... :nervous:

I'm off, mate, I'll talk to you another time...

Im scared too !!!

Dunno whats going to happen this week ?? Im sure it'll be a lot more annoyin than the previous 4 weeks !!

Some broken joypads comin up I think !

 turn damn it and dont you dare slide anywhere - are we on a damn ice rink ???

cmon isn't it getting a little silly to have the order by fastest lap when the race is where it comes from. Maybe for this race, I'll just hotlap every single lap and delibrately crash 10 times after I hit it. The scoreboard will read.

Sough 11:52.552 1:01.301

I'll be busy at an ilink this weekend but I'll find some time sunday to race.

thats what I though sough - we need to have some idea of exactly what we are aiming for

I dont think its right that we just have the quickest lap of the 5 as the decider - we may as well just run the race in free run and clock the fastest lap (and yeah I know its not sposed to be like that, its sposed to be like you've gotta get the fastest lap on race day) but no point in doin tha whole race if its just the quickest lap only that counts ????

Im sure we've babbled on abooot this already

Im happy to keep stuff like it is tho - I'll just make my overall time longer but just concntrating on one or two of the laps to make them quick laps

u no wot I just realised too

In all the previous races say, on the first lap, if I ran wide or touched the wall or span or something I was startin over but I'll not bother now if we are stickin with the fastest lap not total lap time

doh !!!!!

💡 I'll just carry on if I spin on the first lap this week !!!

yea thats what I do, spin or slide too much... restart. I don't wanna just do a race for the best lap time. :(
Look at the Montreal Grand Prix... Alonso has the quickest lap time by 0.3 seconds, but there are 3 drivers ahead of him. It really should be total time that counts, where the driver who is quicker on average wins. If not then yea, on the last lap i wont give a **** if i cant pass the AI well enough, or if i happen to spin on any other lap... Prolly even take the first lap as a little warmup lap and get ready for the middle 3...

Its just not right :(

Sough 11:52.552 1:01.301

Hey is that 1:01.301 your best time ever? Or are you just figuring it could be pretty good?

2 Sough 1994 F094/S F1 Car 829 MT SP 3/21/03 11:34 PM Dual Shock 2 1:01.465

So YOU have the second best time in the world for this track huh...
Gonna be tough beating you :(

I got 3rd place first race,
then 2nd place second race,
so sorta hoping for 1st place third race?

hehe

Well there's a faster time or two at racing line as well. Plus guys like flinx etc that never gave it a shot. But I guess I know the track well. I forget my sets and I tried a few laps today and couldn't break 1:03. Hopefully I can get back under 1:02 by the time we are done.

On the issue of racing versus fastest lap, the whole point of having the race on the weekend is to be more realistic, so its kind of counterproductive to not count race time. Maybe we could all discuss our fastest lap in free run after we see the race results and it would just be a sort of informal side part of the challenge.

Some tips for r5 wet, remember that you are luckily in an F1. No heavy wheelspinning FR car. Be aggressive. You should only be about 5 seconds slower than your best R5 dry time.

Thats why I wanted to know what everyones BEST time is in free run. Because its nearly impossible to match your best lap time during a race.. just doesnt seem the same. Sometimes you can get a super fast lap you didnt even think you could achieve.. but try repeating that after. Not that easy.

Gave SSR5 Wet a go yesterday.. Currently running 1:03's, and havent been looking at sector times much so I have no clue what they are.

I hope its gonna be another close race, its funner that way.

I havent even started this week yet - oops

I'll get on with it tomorrow now I know a time to be heading towards

good luck all

turned about a dozen laps last night, well into the 2's

I know I should be trying to get better on the track and trying to get the best settings possible.. but since I learned what Initial D is, im sorta hooked on it :O Gonna give it another go tomorrow.

Btw, how much TCS are you guys using?.. im sticking with 1 or 2 for now and no ASM.

I think that settings are less important on this track. As long as you don't mess up the car balance alot with way low rear downforce or something. I've gotten similar times with 0asm 1tcs and 1asm 5tcs, varying lsd, brakes, springs etc. Not that they don't matter but in my experience they don't make or break a race here.

I aint even started yet - time for this week is gonna be well down I think

So not much rear downforce then and plenty play in the suspension is the order of the day ??

well, if you do take off some downforce in the rear, you should make sure not too have too much on the front. Or boost the TCS abit more. Because otherwise the rear will start sliding everywhere considering the track is wet. Havent run since Monday, i'll discuss more about settings tomorrow or sumtin, gotta try it our for myself first.

might give this low DF thing a try

0 ASM, 3 TCS

well i wouldnt drop the downforce in the front much.. But they are saying the rear. Sure gets fun when you have max downforce on front and almost nothing on rear. With some good LSD settings, you can drift the F1 to your pleasing :)

I tried to record a 16 second clip of me drifting on midfield, but when i pushed "X" to start replay, i forgot "Start" was highlited, so I lost the replay :( Maybe next time!

What I meant was that as long as you don't wreck the car's handling then settings aren't extremely important. Such as way low rear downforce would make the car hard to handle. For that matter so would a lack of front downforce. So I wasn't really advocating low downforce, I'm running max/max usually.

There seems to be a bit of questioning as to why I've used this format.

I thought it may be a bit more challenging that you, instead of running around and around for 50 laps trying to get your best lap, you have a set amount of laps to try and get an amazing time, so there's that pressure to be fast.

Do we all understand now?

I'm over at the GT3 Vault, but I'm having trouble finding settings. How do I do it?

They dont have the Poly 001 there mate, try the F094/s

Even then, I dont recall having seen settings for SSR5 Wet or Dry.
Maybe someone posted lately, who knows? But I doubt it.

you gotta register first like on here then click on the top ten list on the left side - the guy with the most setts is NovaSS
When you register there will be a little "box" icon thingy just to left immediate left of his name - click there and hey voila all his setts can be found
Its a bit confusing - not as easier as GTPlanet and the setts are OK - ish but weve been gettin quicker lap times here than on there !!

yep I get ya now - Im just gonna try to put same amount of effort in but perhaps try and concentrate on makin one lap the quickest ???

Yea, if I would have known this is exactly how its supposed to be (Quickest lap during a race). Then I would have raced appropriately instead of trying to be consistent, but lose out on a quicker lap time.

you gotta register first

I didnt register for GT Vault. I just browsed by car make on the left bottom hand side ( where you can scroll among car makes ). Then you click on F1. Then you get a list of F1 cars. Click on the icon to the left of the F1 you are looking for, then browse the settings. There are two pages for F094/S (Didnt notice the first time). But I still think there is nothing for SSR5 Wet for the F094/S.
