So .. I go to set up a Wireless-G router at a friends house and get that going fine, until she tries to use AIM ..

Details of the problem:
1) When you go to type in an IM box and type in it, it makes this error sound every time you press one of the alphanumeric keys but produces no error message at all. No text shows in the window either.
2) When you either move the IM window or move another window over top of the IM window it is almost like the IM window crashes and does not get redrawn, IE the text box for the message shows whatever was moved over it.

Details of the computer:
Dell Latitude D600
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

She is running AIM version 5.9, I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, along with AIM 5.5.3598 and 5.2 and they all do the same thing. I uninstalled each version prior to installing a different one. If all else fails, I guess I can try installing gAIM or Trillian or something like that.

I have never seen this problem myself, nor have three or four other people who I talked to about this prior to posting. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Just so everyone knows, this was an explorer.exe problem. I talked to a LSA buddy and he said that it is generally caused by alot a continuous uptime (strange as I haven't seen it yet on my computer though ..) and to fix it you have to do a clean format of the HDD. I actually fixed it a week ago, I just never got around to posting this.

Explorer was doing some strange things for me for a while, so I decided to reformat. Smooth as silk, now. It was oinly 4 months since my last format, but I had absoultely beaten my computer into the ground during that time. I rarely turned it off and installed everything under the sun. No spyware or Virii, though. Thanks firefox!

Full formats fix almost every computer problem. :D:👍

Well yeah .. except hardware problems :)
