So I installed a new 80gb SSD to replace my old 120 gb HDD and after transferring my file and re-installing the game and all the updates (took forever) I noticed something strange.

In my garage about half of my cars had no image, I can go to them and they're still there, but there's no image when I browse my car list.
And the cars images that do show up are reset, like the factory paint and no spoilers ect.

I did find a way to fix this sorta, I just alter my car in some way and it shows it again BUT... Some cars, like my Mazda 787b cannot be altered in any way that fixes this problem like painting or a rim change ect...

Any advice on this?

Happens whenever you re-install the game and already have a save file.

Just create new thumbnails for each car and it's fine. It's on the menu that pops up when you press triangle.

Thanks!

Not a huge issue but it was bugging me.

Edit: Where do you need to be when you press triangle?

Just hover over one of the cars when browsing the list in your garage - should have an option saying "retrieve all thumbnails" or something along those lines. :)

Edit: says "Create thumbnails of all cars" :)

There is an option to create thumbs for all cars that was part of Spec 2 or maybe even before. Before that you had to do them one by one.

You should have just backed up your hdd to an external via the XMB and then restored it to your new SSD. That's how I did it anyway and I did not lose any thumbnails or anything else. Enjoy the SSD, they are soooo fast with GT5.

If you have a lot of cars, don't do that. Do it individually, otherwise you'll be there for hours.. Well on a standard PS3 that's the case, but I'm still advising doing them individually.

Honestly I didn't want all the junk I had saved on my HDD filling up my SSD.

So I just used a cheap little 4gb usb drive.

It's hard to express how much faster the SSD is ... it won't even take an hour.

I might then be a complete dunce with SSDs but I assumed that they eliminated the ability to use CDs.

No, not yet. The only advantage of SSD is quicker load times and on a pc, you don't have to defrag the drive. Outside of that, Its expensive for just faster loading. No other advantages are know for SSD's in ps3. Also, Why did u go with a SSD that is smaller than the original HDD? ( not directed towards you blitz)
