Hello all, I've been having a weird problem with GT5 Lately.

Every time I go into "GT Life", I can navigate the screen with the directional buttons on my DFGT, but I cannot press X to select literally anything on the screen. I turned on my DS3, and had the same issue.

However, when I unplugged my DFGT wheel, I could navigate the menu fine with the controller. Upon plugging the wheel back in, the same issues resumed, with me not being able to select anything. :banghead:

Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, is there a quick fix, or is it a problem with my wheel? All help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day. 👍

Edit- after starting up the game again, I can't even press X to get into the GT Life menu now :(

Man, I can't really give you a solution, it's quite weird.
Have you tried deleting the data and reinstalling the game? I know it would take at least a day, but it worth the try 👍
You can try to delete the caché of the game in the options, but I don't think it would help to that particulary issue.

Hope you can fix it 👍

I'm going to have to reinstall the game data, I'll set it to do that before I go to bed tonight. Hope I can fix it too! Thanks for the reply :) 👍

I think I had a similar issue when my pedal connection was loose

Ahh, I see why that could cause a problem. Any easy fix? Or will I need to take apart the pedal assembly?

Are your DFGT connected to an electrical outlet? (Meaning all wires are in.)

Damn, this is a bit drastic, eh? How'd you come to that s conclusion . You would have wasted a day of this poor guys time based on assumptions :lol.

OP, there was a similar thread with your exact problem, it turned out to be a loose connection. Check all your external connections, and see if it works.

As others have mentioned, I'm guessing you have a loose connection somewhere.

I had a similar issue after making a custom e-brake, I couldn't use the circle button. It was a very simple solution, release the e-brake.
I had the ebake locked in the up position, so it was like holding the circle button down. So when I was trying to push the circle button the ps3 saw it as already being pushed (because it was).

Anyway check the connections at the wheel, where the pedals plug in. A loose connection here can do weird things.

To the guy who said delete your game data, wow that's a very extreme "guess". If he's gone through with it he's lost all of his photos and custom tracks. It's pretty important to mention these factors when suggesting someone delete their game data.

When your wheel is plugged in, make sure (in the XMB options) that it is assigned as "Controller 1"

The wheel should be controller 2, not 1. Otherwise you can't use the the DS3 in the menu. Unless of course there is an issue with certain wheels.

Sorry, my comment is for G27, as that has directional keys on it, so no need to use the DS3 for menu navigation, only time I use the DS3 is to quit the game.

OP specified DFGT... googling images shows me that DFGT also has directional keys on it? So why would you need to use a DS3 to navigate the menu?

This happened to me last week with dfgt. The pedals wasn't plugged in. Plugged them in and everything was ok

I have directional buttons on my GT3 too, so I don't need to use the DS3. Had a D-Pad on my old Driving Force too. But I (and I'm sure I've seen others say the same) just find it much more comfortable and quicker to use the DS3 for most of the mundane menu navigation and tuning and such. I'm also not always sitting at the wheel for every single thing I might be doing in the game.

It may just be habit, but then there's also the fact that I'd rather save most of the wear and tear on the wheel's buttons for when I'm driving. Mainly it just feels better and seems a bit quicker.

I wasn't saying how you have to do it, just that that's the way it needs to be set up to be sure it will work correctly in order to help isolate a problem. The second controller doesn't work for everything in GT5 for whatever reason.
