340 hp...390 lb/ft of torque...0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. It's awesome. Compared to the vehicles we have previously owned (2 Pontiac Bonnevilles, a Nissan Murano, etc.) this car is a dream. I just wanted to know what everyone's opinion of this car is, especially if you've ridden in one or driven one yourself. I'll answer any questions as well...

Whoo-hooh, give your parents a hearty congratulations! :)👍 (Especially for getting the 300C… I've seen way too many V-6s around here, which makes me sad.)

Doesn't look too bad although the windows seem quite small in the height department. :/

Nice purchase, I quite like the 300C.

Although you should have posted it in the Cars in General forum, more car enthusists would see it there.

Agreed, this belongs in Cars In General.

But great purchase, your parents have good taste in cars! 340hp V8, great interior, great value, great performance, and to quote Jeremy Clarkson "It looks like it was designed by Al Capone". I also like how under normal driving conditions 4 of the cylinders shut down to provide better fuel economy!

Oh yes, and I think the 0-60 in 5.3 seconds is a bit overblown, I think it's closer to 6 seconds in reality. But, of course you can prove me wrong! Either way, the car has some serious acceleration, especially for a family sedan!

Have yet to see one in real life - but from the pictures I've seen and specs I've read, it's an awesome vehicle...

Congrats to yer parents Anderton !....

Ohhh - And if you're into fake pink fur coats and gold spinners - it's the ultimate base for a pimp mobile 👍

Great ride your parents got anderton....I just found out to that there is an all wheel drive option available on those cars too..( mercedes 4matic )...Would love to have one parked in my driveway.

I think car and driver called it " A gangster in a pinstripped suit "

i recently saw a review on this car in 5th gear on foxtell and the guys said its a great car, and a good alternative to the mercedes BMW's, but the only thing that let the car down was too many plastics in the interior, he was very happy with the handling and the power plant though.

Great ride, congrats to you dude

congrats on the ride man. I'm trying to convince my dad to get the v6 or get a g35...

he has such crappy taste in cars... he wants a corolla or camry (4 cyl) :yuck:. It's going to take a LOT for my bro and me to convince him to go for a g35 in febuary when the first year of production models all come off their leases and pile up on the showroom floors.

Incredible car. Working at a Chrysler dealer I get to drive one alot. They are very fast for what they are. I roasted the tires off one from the Chrysler Proving Grounds for about 50 feet. It was cool because the car let me sit with the brake pedal pressed while the tires where just throwin up smoke. Just wait untill the 300C SRT-8 comes out... 425hp RWD. Its going to give the new vette a run for its money.

Thats called a "power brake" or "brake stand". Pretty easy to do, especially for an auto. Any RWD car can do that with ease. Hold the brake down, floor the throttle, watch tires burn. Hell, my old crappy Cherokee I had back in high school many years ago could do them.

Ok, I doubt that. Granted, it will be a sweet piece when it shows, its never going to give the new C6 a run for anything. The Vette weighs 3170lbs, where as a 300C with the Hemi weighs in at 4050lbs. Thats almost 900lbs more its lugging around. Yes, it will be a fast sedan, and fun car. But a Vette beater, it will not be.

Is this you? :D

Congrats on the new car Anderton! My mom was thinking about getting one last year but wasnt too impressed with the interior(she doesnt like modern-looking interiors, she says they look too cheap). My aunt and uncle are in the process of purchasing one right now, they may even already have it.I love the 300C, its one of my favourite sedans(other than my dads 545i).

I don't know about a C6, but it'll spank just about any C3 from the dreaded disco era. A better comparison will be against the Cadillac CTS-v. That will be a fun fight to watch.

A friend of mine is seriously looking at the 300, but he's looking at the 3.7 V6. The Hemi is just too far out of his price range. We've test-driven it, and it's still pretty strong, even without the V8. Not astounding, but respectable. Still, if I could afford it, I'd get the V8. I am an American, after all.

Are you mad? Try 6.3 seconds. They're quick - they're not that quick.
The Car and Driver review got it to 60 in 5.3 seconds...it has a "manumatic" shift mode, which is the only way it will go that fast, but even in full-auto it's enough to nail your ass to the seat back.

We were looking at the Jaguar S-Type and the Mercedes E320, which are both like $20,000 more and have way less power. My mom likes big cars; she's owned a Grand Marquis, a Monte Carlo and an Oldsmobile Delta 88 in the past, (gotta love those 70s and 80s American cars!!) and the coolest thing about this car is how fast it moves for its size.

I was fooling around with it the other day in the rain and managed to get the rear end to cut loose even with the traction control switched on. My mom hasn't driven an RR in about 15 years, so I hope she learns how it handles pretty quick. Canadian winter is almost upon us here, and if she dings up "the Hemi," as my dad refers to the car, I'm going to go Menendez on them...that car is gonna be mine when they get too old!!

The car looks beefier than it is, thanks to the high window-line. It is a little hard to back up, but it's got a reverse-assist sensor to tell you how close you are to something behind you. The C-pillar blind-spots are killer, but I've never driven anything like this, and I've been in my fair share of BMWs and Mercedes. Neither of those manufacturers come close to offering this much power in this price range. Granted, it's only got a Chrysler badge on it, which doesn't scream luxury, but when I drive by guys in this tank, heads turn. Maybe it's the intoxicating yet distinguished rumble of the Hemi reverberating out of the dual exhaust pipes...

So are you gonna post pictures of it? Yeah the cars pretty nice! My friends MOM got one with the hemi and boy does that thing haul ass! The first day my friend got his permit he got to drive it and just barely pressed the gas according to him and that thing took off!

Well I'll try to get my mom to let me drive it again so I can test it out with a friend...it will be pretty ghetto with me stomping on the pedal and trying to work the manumatic (I can't drive standard to save my life) while he works the stopwatch!

I'd post pictures but I have no digital camera...I really do have to get one of those this year with the money I get for Christmas...I'll put pictures on here as soon as that materializes, but the thread will probably be long dead by then!!

I would just get one that can recod also so you dont have to have a stop watch.

The reason this car is so cheap is because its platform sharing in work. The chasis is the same as a Mercedes E320, as your mom if she noticed a similiarity in the handling of the two. ITs a cool car, I dont like it because already i see way to many, ITs a good old hybrid, a European Chasis with an american engine

Stop posting Car & Driver 0-60 times.

They're as factual as simply making up the times.

So who's should we post??

ANyhow, it has gotten good reviews... a bit out from my taste though.. biggest thing I would ever want to have is a Lexus IS300 or... just maybe... a Toyota Matrix.

5.3.... 0-60?? Nuts if you ask me... 6.3 would still have be in doubt... its just sooo much car to move.

My only complaint appearance wise... aside from it being twice as long as my car.. are the side windows... seem so small. Seems to be teh trend now though, with that new Benz having similarly small windows. How is the back seat room? That is something I am curious about, cause some people I know were looking at one, and they end up hauling me around... and I get cramped up in most back seats, being 6 foot 4...

Chrysler has upped their standards thought, no doubt with the direct help of Benz.
