Ok, women and gay men buy convertables.

Under that logic, then, the Maple should be a convertible.

Okay, Alright, I was probably shooting my mouth off with my "Classification." I must say that Women don't like cars that are supposedly marketed specifically to them. I need to find an example better than the '56 LaFemme, though, it was only available in a couple, femme colors, Pink and white, had flower-print upholstery, and co-ordinating purse, (With all the nessecities) umbrella, raincoat and umbrella. Nice, but utterly useless, since most women had these things already, in a color they liked, not Dodge's. Men wouldnt' go near the thing, despite a Red Ram Hemi: there's a difference between so-called "Girl's cars" and woman-marketed cars: Men will buy some versions. The New Beetle Turbo S, for example. or the Cavalier Z24. My parents actually had a Rabbit convertible, and then I came along and Dad traded it for a Golf II, for practicality and safety reasons. Had a stick, only 'cause that was cheaper. And Girls do think driving a "Boy's Car" is cool, or, at least, a good enough car to drive. That's kind of why you dont' see too many "Women-oriented" models: they're usually marketed with some other point.

On SUVs and Minivans: Ladies drive them mostly because the lady is also a Mother and has many children to haul around. And Men drive SUVs, too. and Minivans. (Usually because they have to on the latter.)

So, In my opinion, "the first car special for female in China" will end up not selling to "female in China." Then again, I'm not Chinese. The mindset might be different.

What do you mean women orinted cars never work. Maybe in the USA but in other countries they work well. See women in other countries have choice because of democracy something which the US.........I'll stop there before i cause trouble.

No, please do go on. I'd love to hear your well-educated, articulate views on the role of women in modern US society, and the role of democracy in US government.

Really. If you're going to start something, have the stones to finish it.

I would say that convertibles are more bought to be seen. That is something women want to do far more than men. A lot of convertibles are juts bought to be seen in. A guy is more likely to go after a solid performing coupe or something.

Sebring: Grandpa car
Rabbit Cabrio: Men bought them, too.
New Beetle: It wasnt' for women when the original design came out. I dare you to call a Turbo S or RSi a "Girl's" car, anyway.
Eos/C70: See Sebring. Except faster, better built, and better looking.

The Sebring convertible is definitely something you will see FAR more women driving.
Any self-respecting straight man wouldn't be caught dead in a new beetle convertible. As for the RSi ect, you can take any car and make it work for the opposite sex. From guy to girl car, take the top off. The other way around? Stiffen suspension and throw on a few turbos.
Eos/C70? Definitely have a more feminine aura and feel to them.

Anybody know how that Volvo (it would be) car for women by women was received?

It could be really affordable in China, but I just can't find any femininity on this piece of crap. Why they always hire bad taste designers?

They should have copied the mx 5

whats your opinion on a convertible if its not a car, say a jeep wrangler?

In that case, big tires and off road capability (I don't know many off-roading chicks) are enough to make the Wrangler a guy's car.

Fine I'll finish it. Needed time to think and word it properly before I do cause trouble.

This isn't disresepect to the American people but to the CEO's, goverments etc.

See car comapanies in other countries actually even have women in top positions. Example Ford in Australia has a woman right at the top. Trust me by doing this the marketing of cars have changed, especially for the falcon utes. They also use women as designers for interiors, body work etc.

Where as in the US all I see is the big macho men running car companies and governments going its our way or no way. Yes and the governents giving discounts on big guzzling trucks, like what the hell. Then women go and buy these things because they look at it as hmmm 20k for a huge truck/4wd or for a mid sized sedan. Hard choice now isn't it. Then especially US car companies don't really make any other decent products. So women or infact men who want a veichle that is not so big and rediculous have to look to overseas brands. But then the problem is the smaller overseas cars end up being the most unsafe veichles on the road in the US by far. Just because a Toyota Yaris has a 5 star rating in europe don't mean diddly squat when it gets hit by a silverado or something.

From what I can from being an outsider, it is just harder for a woman to get into a power role then it is in Europe, Australia, Newzealand. Sure there is democracy but sort of biased democracy.
Thats what i sort of want to say.

Still better then some middle eastern, asian and african counties. Well mega times better.

Ok for starter that is not the best seling "veichle" in the US.
Isn't that thought between Ford F-series and Chev Silverado? Normal people use them as transport so don't give me any "they are commericial veichles rubbish".

And in Australia, sure the best selling veichle is the commodore, but how many other big cars are at the top, well none really. Next is the Ford Falcon at 4th best selling. Then next is the Aurion but that has the same fuel economy as the 4cylinder camry. In the top 10 we have actually i'll give u Octobers sale figures.
5 of the top 10 are small cars
7 out of 10 of those cars have 4cylinder engines

Don't tell me how the US has a good fuel econmical car on the top.
Ow and look at that, no giant 4wd's.
There is a Honda CRV but thats a compact 4cylinder waste of time 4wd.

There ya go copied froms carsguide

1 Holden Commodore (Australia) 4440

2 Toyota Corolla (Japan) 4123

3 Mazda3 (Japan) 3125

4 Ford Falcon (Australia) 2439

5 Toyota Camry (Australia) 1994

6 Hyundai Getz (Korea) 1896

7 Toyota Aurion (Australia) 1831

8 Mitsubishi Lancer (Japan) 1446

9 Honda Civic (Thailand) 1409

10 Honda CR-V (Thailand) 1291

Something interesting from that though. Mazda does not sell fleet cars in Austrlia. Ie no rentals cars etc. It is actually the most sought after private car by far.
Now the commodore, i remember reading somewhere that something like 80% were fleet/company cars. Its not really the peoples choice car. Its what they are given.
The Silverado isn't a car. That is a truck.

Best selling cars in the United States Of America. (2006)

1. Toyota Camry (448,445)
2. Honda Accord (354,441)
3. Honda Civic (316,638)
4. Chevrolet Impala (289,868)
5. Toyota Corolla (272,327)
6. Nissan Altima (232,457)
7. Chevrolet Cobalt (211,449)

The other 3 are The Chevrolet Silverado, The Ford F-Series, and the Dodge Ram. But alot, and I mean alot of them are used as work vehicles. I'd say about..... 60-70%

Around here, I'd say maybe 15-20%. Seriously. On some of the mainstreets in Spokane, you can't go 2 minutes without seeing one(light truck.) And it's not like this is a 'wealthy' city....but everyone and their cousin owns one, despite the gas prices.

It also doesn't help the fact that there are truck dealerships littering the county. :scared:

I was seriously debating on getting a '99 Dodge ram 1500, but I'm seeing more and more of those things each day. It's obsurd. I didn't, however get it.

I seem to remember more. I thought it was more you couldn't sit at a stoplight without seeing five of those behemoths.... They are popular in Seattle. I'm sure Spokane is "worse."

Who? Tom Gorman the President of Ford Australia is a woman? This is news to me. Marcus Hotblack, the Director of Interior Design, and Scott Strong, the Chief Designer are women too?

So it's got a GTI grill, Audi A4 headlamps with A5 fairy lights, Saab 9-3 taillamps, and it's all rolled up into something that looks French. I believe this car can be loaded onto the fail train.

That's interesting. I didn't know our government was subsidizing us to buy large SUVs. I was under the impression that the US government didn't sell cars, or even pay people to buy them. Well, OK, maybe auctioning off surplus vehicles, but jeez.

If I'd known the government would pay half the cost of a new SUV ($20,000 or so, since most of the large SUVs from any brand are over $35,000 at least), I would have bought one too! Where do I sign up?

I think "outsider" sums it up perfectly.

It's not pick-ups that are causing the problem. About 95% of the pick-ups i see are used for things that they are made for. And there are a crap load of pick-ups sold to rental companies, where people can rent a full-size truck/pick-up, any work going truck for $20 an hour for people to get jobs done. U.S. has a lot of commercial work going on.

I think the problem lies more in are soccer moms that drive around in there over sized SUV's that don't ever see off road... Not like they make them to go off road any more.

It looks like a re-re-re-re-re-re-freshened (ex-Dacia) Renault 12.

Chinese-to-English websites: They provide refreshing change in a masterful beginning of readingness for my humortude of sport.

Maybe he is referring to the loophole discovered in the tax code that subsidized over 6,000lb (?) vehicles as a business write-off.
