Like the Deep Puple tune there Del 👍

I had 4 Deep Purple albums, growing up I think, including Machine Head and the "Made in Japan" live album and then the one with all the bubbles (i think), it had Highway Star on it, but can't recall the album cover. Great tunes, great times. BTO was also in my collection at the time. Converted some years later to The WHO and now bleed The WHO.

Had some great lap times there, the opening lap under 1'37.3 plus some good laps on Mediums (I mean 1'29.3-ish laps),but unfortunately I can't did the race because of the flu. :ouch:
You had luck this time, guys. :trouble:

I think we have an extra week this round because of the race length, so you might be able to do it this week! :)
Hope you do, more competition equals more fun! 👍

Really?I didn't realize any given extension from the race director...until this moment.
OK,I'll keep on trying.
But as I remember the deadline was February the 17th,wasn't it? :dunce:

The deadline has always been Sunday night 12 midnight, Feb 24th!
Giving 12 days to run an hour long race.

I had the same albums [still have them] though never got into the WHO .. LED ZEPPLIN stopped me .. ZOSO .
On the eve of my major history exams while at the last year of school .. had the good fortune to go to a concert .. BLACK SABBATH and the support 'act' was AC/DC :) .. one of the best AND i passed like 'never before' .
Going premium soon 👍

Saw a few of them along with the Airplane, Hendrix,Santana etc at the Filmore East in NYC, I lived across the alley from the Filmore for a summer. Sometimes we'd just stand on our little 4x6 apt. porch and listen to whoever was playing since the Filmore wasn't air conditioned and they kept the side doors open that faced my apt. And I hate to admit (shows my age)that I was at Woodstock, have friends now that live on the lake where everyone skinnydipped and bathed during the concert. Unfortunately I don't remember most of the 3 days we were there, we slept in my first car, a 1951 Plymouth that I bought for $35.00

My 1st car was a 1956 Morris Minor {dad had the engine rebuilt} cost $100.oo = your probably 5 years older than me Drew .. Woodstock was before my time and 13000 miles away too :)

Ha Ha!
Woodstock was WAY before my time!
I wasn't even a year old at the time, although it would, no doubt, have been interesting

Hmm! The mussings of the old-pharts!
Reminds me of the time I got up in the morning, 1/2 hour before I went to bed. Ate a handful of wet gravel from the road, then did 26 hours down t' pit. Before getting home and having to suffer only dry gravel for tea, and then to be flogged to death by dad so I could get up even earlier the following day to lick the salt off the road so my little sibling's could have some defrosted gravel for breakfast!

Ah, them's were the days!:D

Squeeze of lemming in that drink sir?
Neil

Memories .. the day i tried to impress the girl of my dreams whilst at a party .. drank too much 'blackburry nip' {have not touched it since} they found me asleep in the garden {off the planet} at 2am in the morning .. my brother {then only 14 , drove the Morris while i changed the gears}
5 minutes after crashing into bed that night .. the old man woke me .. apparently he didnt like the way the car was parked so i had to get up again and move it 5 metres .. he's never known the reason why it was parked at a strange angle .
PS .. the girl went home with some other guy that night .. moral of the story .. don't drink too much when your young and stupid .

Tokyo : 5 stops 2 x RM/RM 8 Laps each RS/RS x 3 6 Laps each .

Finally I have a result,guys.
Submitted!!!
Good luck You all.

My favorite Monty Python sketch, " Got out of bed 3 hours before going to bed" followed by the dead bird sketch:)

I was 18 when I went to Woodstock Marty.

New result submitted.
I need to update it because something went wrong.
Neil,I was not able to insert the picture to the letter,if needed I'll publish it after the race to have a proof to my result.

What tyre strategy did you use LAZ ? .. if i may ask ? .. you dont have to answer though :)

It's not a top secret at all so you can ask me whenever you want about my racing tricks.
This one is not a tricky one for me, 4X8 + 7 laps on RM/RS combo, best lap is under 1'29,I could do much more balanced lap times than on RS's on worn tyres.about 6-8 seconds left on the track while lapping the other cars. :ouch:
Anyway it was a consistent race.
A smart guy has the chance to catch me with a three stopper. :scared:
It was fun, but the Nr. 1. for me was the Apricot reverse/Acura combo.

Don't worry about it Laszlo!

If it's 'out-there' then maybe, but otherwise don't worry.

I'm not entering, but I was looking to have a bit of fun so I set up this exact race and messed around. After 5 laps on RM's front and back, I got a best lap of 1'31.847. I have a horrible time driving with the aids off, I'm sure if they were on I could pull a low 1'29.xxx in a couple laps. It may also be because I'm not used to this track backwards either. I'll update more after I've driven longer.

Just entering please.More driver,more fun.
About the aids: when they are turned ON,you are much more slower. :ouch:

I'm back. I'm going to try and get my timing set up to be able to compete more in this series. I MIGHT even start the WRS again.

Ran this one once. First few laps were a bit hairy, and had to re-start a few times. But I finally got the hang of the M3. This is the car I have used in the LMS series, and love it. But with 533hp and only 1000kg, it's a different car.

That being said, the laps turned in the 1st stint were a little iffy. 1:32.xxx's. Not happy, but it's OK. did 7 laps (yes, I'm hard on tires, :P) I got into my groove and the lap-times started coming down. by the end of lap 5, I was in the 1:30.2xx's. After my 1st pit-stop, I got an idea of not only fuel usage, but time management. I was 1lap off what I calculated I'd be able to finish, and that by only 3s. More on that later.

After the 1st pitstop, I finally hit my stride. I got comfortable with the car and started ticking off good laps. excluding in laps and out-laps, solidly around 1:30.0, with frequent forays into the 1:29s. Very happy. I also started getting 8 laps out of tires, which worked very well for me. Not a winning pace, but a comfortable pace.

Only had 1 scary moment, when running full-bore down the frontstraight, the GT40 comes flying out of the pits. I saw him coming from the track-map, so I was prepared, but didn't know which side he'd take. I bet on him taking Drivers-right like most stupid AI, and dove left...I was wrong. I slammed the brakes and crossed up, but didn't spin, or hit the car...WHEW! cost me about 2s total on that lap, but it's better than restarting 40m in.

Overall I'm happy with the race. Again, I'm not going to win anything, but participation counts, and it's good practice.

PS, what do you mean "Forward direction is done to death". Does that mean that I'll have to find yet another venue for Petit Le Mans!?!

Done to death, but I love that direction.
Neil has good sense to make combos in the WES.
I know this one was Marty's idea, but I think he was wondering on the Reverse direction too.
Sometimes it could be a good thing to do the races on reverse tracks. There will be different tyre wear which means there is a possibility to have different strategies and results.

I'm currently getting re-acquainted with GT4 while my 360 is being repaired, so I reckon I will be giving this a go to get back into the swing of things!

Chris I totally agree with your assesment of the car, or any race car, once you max out HP and lighten as much as possible it's a totally different car. These race cars have their suspension, brakes etc all built and set for the HP and weight they came with and drive their best that way. I realize and understand why we must run with max HP and minimum weight but I'm never happy running them this way. That's probably the nicest thing about the SGT (JGTC) all cars are very close to stock settings.

Funny, I have never heard anyone saying they were getting re-acquainted with Forza coz their PS2 or 3 is being repaired! :sly:;)
Strange that huh?

Welcome to the WES Nitro!

When i realised this race was formatted in reverse mode .. my jaw dropped ! :indiff: .. {considering how much i enjoy racing Tokyo in the 'normal' direction} After over 80 laps in reverse .. it gets the total 👍 = Neil gets it right {car/track combo} every time .

Del is a  old bugger and im now running this 60 minute race in the forward direction .. and honestly i think reverse is better . {on my 1st attempt the time difference on the 1st pit stop was less than .5 of a second / compared to the 1st stop in reverse} Tyre wear is the same except its the front left that goes 1st .

You don't necessarily have to run it with max HP, but since weight doesn't show up on the screen anywhere (except the start screen) you can't really send a replay with the weight, therefore you have to crank it all the way down.

Horsepower (or Kilowatts for you bloody metric-system users) can be seen, so could conceivably be set to whatever you'd like.

Good point there Chris! 👍

And we English bod's tend to want to stick to the imperial system, just like having our own currency. It's the bloody interfering gits of the EU that want us all to use metric.

Give me MPH/Pounds & ounces/Pints etc any day, except I do like metres/cents & mm over yards/feet & inches......more accurate.

Neil

Back about 15 years ago there was a push by the US government to covert to the more accurate, more sensible, with an actual mathematical base, metric system, but us yanks wouldn't go for it.You'd have thought they were gonna close all the Mc Donalds and Walmarts the way americans reacted. I mean really there is no matematical equation to back up inches, feet and yards, we use the Dewey Decimal System in libraries...why?, because it's very accurate and makes mathematical sense. Like you Brits, we're not gonna give up our units of measurment, no matter how stupid they are any quicker then you're going to give up the British Pound. Power to the people, no matter how dim they (we) are :)

Look who is here - this has to be some come back season or something ... :-)
Pulled the DFP out of the closet today. It's still in good shape after a year of collecting dust but I am a bit rusty.
Finally got down to 1.29s (RM) half way through the race but my hopes ended about 15 minutes from the finish when I tried to push just a little too hard.

Edit: Race 2, same lap, same wall, arrrrgggggh !!! It's the long left sweeper (around 1 minute into the lap). I catch the inside rumble on the exit and it pushes me wide into the outside wall :-)

Welcome back buddy!

A man walked into the Doctors, and sat down.
The Doc asked "What seems to be the problem? "
Man replies " Well, when I lift my arm up like this to remove my oddly shaped sun-glasses in a dramatic manor! It hurts like hell! "

The Doc thinks for a Nano-second, and replies "Well, Mr Smith. Don't lift your arm up like that then! "

Get the moral?
:D
Neil

Don't buy oddly shaped sun-glasses? Or don't make dramatic moves? It's gotta be one of them :)
