I started 5 times last night and never got past lap 2 before I had an "episode" with either the sand or the AI's. I'm about at my limit but I'm looking for a few more seconds. Although the field doesn't change much the wrong field is hard on your times, I like having the AI's around so I can use them when needed, but one race I did I didn't even see another car for almost 3 laps which killed my times. There's one field where I most always have an AI to exploit for drafting. Gotta use every advantage when racing with you guys!!
 
Andy,may I ask you what was your best field?
In my race there were three TVR's,the RUF and the Viper GTS.
He was hard to beat,in the long straight after the Schwalbenschwantz he wanted to kick my butt at least four times in the seven laps.
 
Sure Laz, I think this the lineup I had the best luck with :TVR Tamora,Ruf BTR, TVR Tuscan, Viper and the Aston Martin Vantage. I can't be really sure cause I've only saved 3 runs and one was with incorrect settings.
My main objective is to get a few cars behind me and let them pass me on straights so I can draft, but more times then not I get guys behind me cause they fall off the course so I guess it's just a matter of chance. I had one run where it seemed every straight I caught a draft, then one run last night when I didn't see a car for 3 laps. I dunno, guess there are just too many variables on both sides to say one lineup is better for everyone or anyone. I barely understand what I just wrote, hope you can.
I sure am getting to know the Ring much better and it's lots of fun when all the cars are so close to each other, you sure don't get bored. Gonna go run again, seeya.
 
I tried to catch draft too but it was not a good idea.
After they passed me in the straight,I mean the Ruf and the Viper,they crashed and were off the track.I thought they left enough space for me to pass them,but I was not able to avoid the collision.The Viper tried to get back onto the road again but unfortunately he did it just in front of me.I felt that car was hitting me deliberately.Race was over after 4 laps.:ouch:
So personally I prefer the almost empty track.These Artificial Idiots are too nerve-racking for me.:nervous:

But if you want to, you can post a replay after the deadline is past.

And as to runs, I was going to do another today, but got sidetracked. I have found a strategy that means I win by over 1'30.
Start on softs, do 2 laps, then switch to mediums for 3 laps, then back to softs for the final 2 laps.

In the lead by the end of the first lap, back and forth with pit-stops etc, and finish very in the lead.

hahaha .. this 2,3,2 strategy is going to be my final run at the Nurb {if i get time tonight} .. in which case Del will submitt my times in the morning Neil .. after that , i'm away for 5 days .

The more drafting/slipstreamimg the better and is always my preferred option in every race Del compete's in .
 
Think I may have finally gotten a run that was clean and fairly fast and consistant. Did the 3,2,2 combo but found myself all alone for the last 3 laps so no drafting. I'm sorta leaning towards Laz's way of thinking, keeping away from the AI's; although you benefit from the draft you waste time positioning yourself and having to brake early when one is just ahead of you. Anyway my runs seem to be a bit of both.
If I didn't know the Ring before, I sure do now. Lots of fun with lots of unexpected action,,,,very nice Neil.

I've tried this a few times - and am nowhere close to these times ! nice runs guys :)

Neil, I'll try and send both the qual and the race data this weekend.

this old man is very rusty and slow :(
but loving being back behind the wheel :)
 
Just can't stop running this race. Took 3 seconds off my best ,on lap 4 everything went just right, drafting when needed and no out of control projectiles for a personal best lap of 7'52.692. Not in Sphinx's league but I can almost see him.

I don't know about close, I had that one fast lap but the rest were not that fast.I'm still getting my skills back (or lack of) after my car accident so I wouldn't worry Laz.

Times sent to Neil Sat 7:30 EST. Oh and my fast lap was in a run that wasn't clean, so I just couldn't submit it. I went off the black stuff onto the green stuff and gained time from it so it's kaput.

time sent and nowhere near where the times that have been posted around here. Fastest lap was only a 8:03xxx

Had a huge spin on the last lap, which didn't help my times any :(

but I wasn't thinking about the podium
just nice to be back in the cockpit again 👍
 
Great way to kick this series off! 👍

A race car would have been more fun, but this was a sometimes frustrating, but satisfying challenge.

Some Sick times posted for this car. :bowdown:

I was able to get just under 8:00 few times, but never in a clean race. :banghead:

Time submitted with a fastest lap of 8'02.4xx. 2/3/2 pit strategy, with the AI on mediums.

Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out...
 
The AI's are to run on Sport Softs as per Neils instructions. You may want to rerun before time expires. Below is from Neil's setup:

Initial Settings
Transmission : Your choice
Aids : NONE
Tyres : SPORTS SOFT
A.I. : +6
 
I think with DJBaker's lap times he hadn't got any advantage from the A.I. tyre settings.
It caused only that he always was surrounded by the other cars I believe and it made harder his race.:ouch:
It's just my 2 cents but anyway the rules are rules.
Neil has the final word.
 
I agree Laz, just wanted to give him a heads-up so he had time to rerun in case, although Neil will probably let it slide with a word about reading and following the posted instructions. I don't care what any of you say, Neil's not a bad sort:)
 
Generally I would say "Rules is Rules!"

But to be honest, it's the first race, it's DJ Baker's first race in one of my series, and it's now 23.00hrs (nearly)

Plus in this case I agree with Laz, no harm done really.

So leave it be, just pay attention to the rules in the next races, OK?

:dunce: Oops! I did read the rules, & English is my first & only language. My trouble was comprehension & selective retention. I didn't grasp the intent of the Initial Settings, & I just remembered the "SPORTS SOFT or SPORTS MEDIUM ONLY" part. It was a feeble attempt to change the AI's pit strategy, which is why I took the 2/3/2 appraoch. It obviously didn't help me much. FWIW, I had completed the race with the correct settings in 57:02.xxx prior to that run. Thanks for cutting me some slack!

Some Awesome times at the top of the chart by the way. :bowdown:
I don't think I could find 10sec+ a lap in that car if I drove it every day.

Hey Guys here's my photo of my time, I hope I did it correctly. As you can see I had a faster time but it contained an off that benefited me so I couldn't use it, and actually it wouldn't have made any difference in the standings.

If you want to Laz.

All we have to be able to see is the time and car details on the screen, so if you can take one with your phone and post it up, I'll let you know if it's clear enough or not.
If it's crap, you can send me your replay and I'll verify it myself. (That is if I can work out how to do the maxdrive thing in a PS3)
