I like having my windows open in my room so it can get kind of chilly and I have had the Asus Ai Suite temperature readout say my CPU has gotten as "warm" as 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Also my motherboard can get as warm as 50 degrees Celsius so I have no clue as to which temperatures are generally acceptable as being too warm or being too cold. Any light shed would be greatly appreciated :D

(The Cooler Master case I have is amazing...it's vented at the top that warm air just simply rises and it's also vented where the HDD is but that's next to one of my open windows so it's never warm there...also I think when playing Crysis I've seen my video card [with Crossfire on] get as warm as 60*C)

I wouldn't trust Ai Suite too much, if you want an accurate temperature monitor use either Core Temp, or Real Temp.

As for the question itself it can't be answered, well, it could be...but RTFM, my good friend.

RTFM. :dopey:

Generally, too cold isn't going to be a problem unless there is a chance of condensation forming. What you wouldn't want to happen is to have the system off, get very cold (say, 30F, which probably isn't going to happen unless you're an Eskimo), then turn it on and make all of the components get hot, expand, and possibly have condensation forming and shorting it out. 50C isn't really too hot either if that's under a decent load. As an idle temp its probably warmer than average. And 60C for your video card should be just fine. They usually run way hotter than the CPU and are made for it. My GTX260s can get up to 72C or so how I keep them, and with the fan set to auto it lets them get up to 80C. :scared:.

Simply put: All thresholds are measured in degrees C:

Video card: Usually around 80C

Mobo: Not really an issue, but anything over 120C or 150C and the capacitors will start to fall off the board

CPU: 74.1C according to Intel. Ive hit just over 80 on my E7200, so its days are numbered.

As for being to cold, Eric is 100% correct. just a few months ago AMD had an overclocking competition in Vegas in which they used liquid Helium, which is crazy cold at just 3K, almost absolute 0. Being too cold is not a issue, unless condensation forms.

Just to clarify with my Asus motherboard (now that the weather is getting warmer here so is my room) in game it can get as warm as 55C with fans at full blast but it'll stay there...can anyone give me a temperature to watch out for just in case?

With both my CPU, 45C and the GPU, slightly overclocked with the fan speed on auto, hit 65C under almost 100% load,im getting 40C on my motherboard, according to Everest. I worry more about the CPU and GPU temps before I look at he motherboard temperatures. Id say 80C is a nice number before you should be concerned with anything. But I think you RAM might start to act up if things get to hot. Can anyone confirm this?

I think you'd start seeing BSODs (probably memory related ones) when the mobo heat starts getting too high and becoming unstable.

Am I the only one who is running at a constant 25 to 30C? Both cores of mine right now (E8400) are running at 26.

I'm betting you've got a pretty cool room and no hot components inside that case to do that. At idle with a 4Ghz overclock (1.35v) my E8400 can get down to high 30s on a cool day and at idle. 45C right now.

With core loads in the low teens, Core Temp is showing me 43 and 40-deg-C on my Athlon 64 X2 4800+.

Good thing my next box is getting a case with good cooling.

I'm not running in a cool room at all. I'm pretty much always getting 26C, whether or not it's a cold day or hot (No pun intended). It's placed on carpet aswell. I think it must be to do with my Mobo, since it idles on 2GHz and then only reaches top speed when needed.

Oh, right...Speedstep should help a lot. I forgot about that stuff since I have all of the powersaving features disabled.

If you're running Vista, in the advanced power settings you can set the maximum and minimum speeds the CPU will run at. That might be what is happening instead of the motherboard controlling it.
