Hey guys, so this is my first thread on gtplanet, but I thought it was necessary considering what PD has done to this game. I love gt5 but when I downloaded the update and played today I can't stand it. I can honestly say I'm never going to play this game again unless they fix that terrible 3rd person "action-cam." Sure, this may have been done in a good way, but PD just managed to screw it up. It's the worst one I've ever played with. It jerks up and down when driving on a straightway and everytime you turn it tilts WAYY too far. I had a headache after driving for 2 minutes and I turned off my console. They even got rid of the Ferrari seasonal event which is just a big slap in the face. Sure, they couldve put a date when it ended, not just take the damn thing away with no reasoning. Grid was an example of a game with good camera angles. What do you guys think of the 3rd person camera if you play with it? They should've atleast made it optional....

tl;dr This new update sucks, so does the camera angles. Not playing anymore.

There are other views. But I get what you're saying...

Yeah, I understand why people would like it. They added lots of new nice features, but don't COMPLETELY take away things that are working well, always have an option to use the old way.

I will agree with your opinion of the ruining of the chase cam. It's not the movement that gets me as such, more the jerkiness of the camera after a while that forces me into a different view. The update also came at a hugely annoying time for me - during my Suzuka 1000km, and I'm not kidding, the new tyre wear almost made me lose the race.

I'm certain they will be bringing in an option for it soon as well.

It really does suck too, cause I was just getting into the game and buying some rare cars. I was doing the Ferrari event a lot, and it sucks that it's missing now :P

I never really cared for the missing seasonals, given that I already was at around the 20 million mark, but I don't still see much of a reason for their removal either. The only advantage is that the remaining seasonals all give out tickets now if you've done all of the races, which I find rather nice actually.

Hopefully PD will give the option to choose between the old static cam for 3rd person and the new and intuitive loose 3rd person cam, I find it fun and interesting. Heck PD needs to put options for most everything, no point in permanently turning off things that would make more sense as being optional to each player. Camera shake in the cockpit was awesome, it's kind of dumbed down now to levels that don't add to the immersion.

Pssssssst.......Use cockpit cam. I think it's tops.

I wonder if Kaz when he was racing at the Ring (the 24hr race) with the GTR he changed tires in every lap?

If they wanted to do something "different" with the tires , they could add Super-Soft racing tires with more grip, like the old motogp tires that lasted just for a lap.

The new camera gives a different perspective but is more than obvious that they should add an on/off option.

Isn't that a bit extreme? :dunce:

I agree with everyone in that there should be a option to turn the new chase cam on/off. The only other criticism I have of the update is the seasonal events being taken off, just simply because I enjoyed the choice of races.

But other than those two things its great, the new car tickets for completing seasonals, tickets for engine and body rigidity etc. and the tire wear just makes things more realistic! 👍:dopey:

Still an amazing game, no problems that big that would stop me playing for good!

Also the last?

what were they thinking with the new "racing sounds"? wind noise inside the car sounds like static and drowns other sounds out. plus tire squeal sounds like you're driving on a beach, they made the bad sounds in this game sound even worse

Yeah, it's a little bit sickening at first. But honestly, once you get used to it, it makes for a better experience.

The Circuit Tours Nurbie event is excellent and pays well.....👍

If you're using 3rd person view, you're doing it wrong.

The views you should use are the hud view and cockpit view on premium cars.

:sly:

Seriously tho, from my experience, people who still use the 3rd person view are still in the noob phase of the game. :]

I personally like the new chase cam. I always drive in 3rd person, nothing else. And at first when I heard of the change it worried me. But after driving in a few races with it I find it very comfortable. I like how the car reacts to the road. It may take some getting used too but it's no worries. If anything it makes you feel more like one with the car. But on the other hand I can see why others wouldn't like all the jerkiness. I believe PD is trying to simulate driving more accurately. I do however agree that this new camera should be a selectable option to turn on or off.

And your superior because you race in cockpit view?? I don't get it?? Its a video game chief. I'll drive it how I want to. And there's no proof that noobs only use 3rd person view. If I'm such a noob, then why do I have a successful tuning garage on these forums and why do I constantly get invited to superior racing series. Your denied, quit saying noobs only use 3rd person. But I can see where you are coming from, I wish I was elite and could hang/handle the cockpit views. Only problem is IRL I wouldn't be driving at 200mph. Think about it brother.

So I guess that makes me a noob then. Just cause I prefer to see where I am placing the car at all times and not have a stupid A-pillar blocking my view of the apex all the time. Way to generalize. BTW, I have been playing the entire series since GT1 came out and been here for going on 3 years. 👎

Fail.......I can use any view and run extremely close lap times. Not the fastest on the board but i'm ok in my own right, I do however choose to use Third Person Camera. Have since GT1.

You hear the exhaust, get to check your car out while driving and I find I enjoy the game more when I get to watch 'my' car, watch flames shoot out during downshifts and the position of the vehicle on the track. In other words, I guess im just not sure how you figure the view you use coorilates to your skill level or experience in the GT world. Cock pit view might make you feel like your a real race car driver and stroke your ego, but mines fine, no need to drop my pants to prove anything. Rant over.......

Lmao, you guys took it hard when I said that :P

well, I didn't really generalize... but I just notice how some new players, especially when I go nearby a gt5 demo, stick to the 3rd person view they're used to from games like NFS. Ofc not all who's using is it, are noobs... I guess that after you master more difficult views (or maybe not necessarily more difficult but rather natural) you can handle 3rd person. I don't use it tho, it just doesn't feel "right" after using the cockpit views for a long time.

It's like how 1st person shooter makes more sense than 3rd person shooter.

I almost exclusively race with cockpit, but I do also like the look of 3rd person. The only issue I have is that cockpit with a wheel feels more like racing, and 3rd person with a wheel feels wrong to me. I feel more appropriate driving cars in 3rd person with a controller. It just feels more like a 'game' to me in 3rd person I guess. Nothing wrong with either view.

Haha at all the raging, but here is my point of view.

At first, i was pretty mad at the new camera. Understandably of course. But after a day of being sick on and off by it i did come to terms with the fact i still really like to use the outside view to drift and even though it is obnoxious i still like it better but only for that purpose. It made me a better inside and hood driver. and now i am putting up some money for a steering wheel because i am enjoying other views more. So what harm did it do to me after the first day? none. Still stupid when you brush off the track and on sharp turns, but too bad. and i still dont use it to race any more

And then my second thing with the seasonals. I never realized how board i was getting with the seasonals. I did the same ones over and over and they were pretty fun, but not really. Now that i had to do others for some money i really enjoyed a different set of cars. AND now we get level tickets for doing the events too, so what is there to miss? I was mad that i get less money and it takes longer, but i am enjoying other events more. Sometimes you just need to pretend a esprit v8 se is a euro hatchback...

It is my personal opinion that while they did make things worse for a while, they improved other things in a way. That being said, i see no problem in what they did, and if the weekly or every other week seasonal thing is to continue, i will certainly enjoy it ESPECIALLY if they factor in the odd special thing like the special time trial and whatnot.

To close then. Nothing to whine about.

There are other views. And the Ferrari event, we all knew it was going to happen.

I have no sympathy for anyone complaining about the Chase cam giving them motion sickness. Every view in the game gives me motion sickness.
