What are your driving strengths and weaknesses in GT5?

Strengths:
1.Corner Judgement: Knowing the right route to take for the car I'm driving, within split seconds of seeing the corner.
2.Drive Stability: Keeping the wheel (DFGT) steady, and never jerking the wheel to make corrections, which would end in a crash.
3.Power Management: Can keep any car stable traction wise.

Weaknesses:
1.Drift Stability: When using a wheel, it is important to be able to turn it as hard as possible to keep the drift steady. This will be a problem for me until I can get a wall mount as I may knock my TV over.
2. Corner exiting technique: Getting into the turn is easy for me, but judging the exact moment in which to punch the throttle is a challenge, as if I'm too early, I spin out or hit the wall. If I'm too late, I lose lots of time.
3. Concentration: When I'm online, I always worry if the guy behind me is a dirty racer, and whether he will take me out next turn or not. This in turn slows me down a lot, rendering me not a fast driver, but a defensive driver, slowing me down, and taking corners too cautiously.

Strengths:
-Very Competitive and can follow any line I see.

-Hard to get off your tale

-Have a LOT of control of under steer & over steer

Weaknesses:
-I make many mistakes when in the lead

-Can lose Temper for stupid reasons at time

-I some times have a little to much fun an put it a little too much side wayz :sly:

Brilliant thread, and some very good replies.

I can't think of any strengths to be honest, except for knowing the layout of the Nurb like the back of my hand.

Weaknesses:

1. Holding position when under pressure - I have a very bad habit of looking at what the car behind me is doing, more than making sure i'm in the right place on track for the next corner..... I nearly always end up sliding out wide and loosing 1 or more positons.

2. Consistency - Although I know most of the track layouts, I still screw up on A corner for no good reason, which irritates me like crazy.

3. Tuning - I tend to make random adjustments, and then get annoyed at my self when my car still handles like crap haha!

4. Pace - Once I fall behind even just slightly, witchcraft happens, and I start to fall further and further back, watching the splits get bigger and bigger, even though I'm driving to the best of my ability.

5. I love being a clean driver, and want to race clean, but I either choose a car that isn't competetive enough, or every other person in the race is a better (faster) driver than me.

Overall I lack confidence too, which I think really hampers my will to drive like I feel I should be.... If that makes sense......

Strengths: Ferrari F1 cars
I can race the ferrari F1 cars at an elite level (I only use SRF, but it's not a requirement for me.). I have only lost a few times in over 1500 clocked race miles in my F2007. Custom tracks and Ferrari F1 are like a chain and sproket for me. My last race on a custom track, I smoked the whole 12 car pack by 45 seconds by the end of 5 laps.
Tuning: I can tune my cars to be in the higher tiers of the speed level. I'm not the best, but I'm good enough to keep up with faster cars.

Weaknesses: Skid Recovery Force is still a requirement on all but the Ferrari F1 cars, but I'm working on that.
Side by side driving, I have a bit of a tendency to seriously screw up if their is someone right next to me on a narrow track (Nurburgring). I try to race clean and give the guy next to me some room, but as soon as a corner comes up, I end up in the grass or accidently taking the guy out from losing control of my car.

My strengths are: Faith in my car pick and confidence on winning the race if I don't win I still say in the race in other words I never give up no matter what I also like high speed tracks I'm unstoppable on these tracks. My weakness are: racing on a narrow track and a long track I'm good at endurance races only if it a high speed track and I crack under pressure and I mean side by side or 3 wide or more or if someone bump me but If Im ahead by a second I'm still calm until that racer is side by side or right on my tail within 1 inch I have a hard time figuring out what side is the other racer going pass me on and that what get me uncomfortable and cause a wreck cause I don't know rather to move left, right or stay in the middle

Strengths:
  • Maintaining a good rhythm with consistent speed- Once I get into a rhythm I can maintain that pace for lap after lap.
  • Fast Flowing Tracks- I seem to be able to maintain speed well in faster circuits for example La Sarthe, Daytona Road, Tokyo Reverse and Spa.
  • Also standing starts. 👍

    Weaknesses:
  • I get flustered quite easily- If I'm leading a race or somebodies right up my bumper I get prone to making mistakes.
  • Tuning- I'm hopeless at tuning in all aspects. :(

Strengths:

  • Precision - racing line
  • Skid recovery
  • Consistency
  • Getting the most out of FF cars

Weaknesses:

  • Suffer 'Red Mist' when pack racing
  • Poor standing starts
  • FR/MR cars kill me
  • Often make a tatty final lap and lose position

Much of my skill comes from 'blue light' training and 13 years of driving 5 tonne ambulances at silly speeds, using road position to maintain as much speed as possible. Most of my time was spent with FF or 4WD vehicles so FR/MR cars are my downfall.

Strengths:
- Can turn slow cars usually sneered and laughed at by 90% of gamers into fire-breathing monsters....beating NSXs and GTRs with a Storia, beating Lambo Miuras with a '66 Bug, or anything with a 2CV or Mazda Carol which I bet most people just write off and never try out.
-Proud to say I have never driven an X2010.

Weaknesses
-I live in the tuning forums...I know naff-all about tuning (apart from how to exploit power/weight ratios to their fullest extent) so will use others settings, and not necessarily for the same car. For example I used RKM's settings for the Falcon XR8 to set up my C63 AMG.
-MAJOR rage. Been known to restart four times over just for taking a turn wrong and skidding out...and once whacked myself in the head for losing in an FR car (saw it as a sign of being a total pussy). Yep I have issues..
-Still use the racing line.
-Have to stick the ASM on certain cars like the 512BB.

Strengths:

  • None: I'd say I'm a pretty average driver in GT5, and I can't really find any aspects of my driving in the game that I'd call a "strength".

Weaknesses:

  • Drifting: When I do set out to try to drift, I maybe get 1 to 2 out of 10 drifts right. Meaning that I am able to pull out and not wreck. Might be because I'm only using a DS3.
  • X2010/X2011: I can barely think fast enough for the F1 cars, driving either of these cars cleanly around a track with turns is nearly impossible for me.

Strengths
* Clean and fair driver
* Fast driver but probably not among the fastes one out there (DS3 + couch, so lets just wait and see what the future may bring :sly: )
* Consistency
* No asist as in no TCS, ASM, SRF, ABS etc. no matter what car --> If it gets too rough I'll practice or let it collect dust
* Going for gold in events and liccenses and will push myself to be the first one over the finish line
* Not a bad looser

Weaknesses
* Getting behind the wheel when Im too tired and just sliding round the track and loosing the race :s
* Getting bad braking points (too early) when chasing online wich usually makes the car behind me smash up in my rear (wonder why they cant see my brakelights??)
* Tuning: I'll never use a car without tuning and twisting it even if it may take hours. I would say that im a desent tuner, I usually know what I do but the problem is; I'll never get able to finish a real tune for real. And when Im done it feels like its just 70-80'ish% max finished. (Though I've got a 3-4 cars that im pretty happy with)
* Should have taken a bit more time to test one or another of the nearly 700 cars I've got atm. I prefer racing cars like JGTC or LMP's, got too many cars collecting dust in my garage:/
* Tire wear; got rubber?

This is a good thread. People can come in here and find a good friend and racing online.

Strength
- Clean Race/Pass
- Will Race like what those pro did in Best Motoring

Weakness
- Not the fastest driver out there, but should be able to keep up
- Not perfect in drifting

I don't know my strengths.......yet, but I can definitely tell you probably my biggest weakness.

AWD
Not in rally racing, oh hell no, I'm a master at that, but on road, I suck ass, so I just tune the center diff to a 10/90 setting, and treat it like a RWD. Hell, I can drive FWD's better.

Strengths:
Knowing how to move the car
Knowing how to brake
Getting across the finish line
Decent in < 600 PP races

Weaknesses:
Wearing out tyres way too quickly (Thorugh understeer or oversteer)
Braking too early when someone is on my tail (causing them to run into my bumper)
Not knowing how to setup a car

Strong points:

I'm between being an average drifter, good but not pro, yet. I can hold a decent line when going sideways.

Friendly and a clean driver.

I'm really quick when it comes to a time attacks or even in compettion with several drivers. Even if I crash, I can get back to the action.

Always try to finish the race, even if I'm not first.

I'm a average tuner, using and creating some of my own tunes for racing. But I'm still learning.

Weakness:

I'm mostly good with some aids like ABS/TCS set at 1. But if these are off, it can be a little tricky to catch us to faster drivers.

In races with higher hp cars(like LMPs) they seem to be a wild when I behind them.

Strengths - Clean driver, follow the racing line well, consistent

Weaknesses - Endurance. I can't drive more than an hour without my driving going down the toilet. Awful tuner and drifter. Always too tense, which is probably the reason why I don't have good endurance. Need to slow down a bit and relax.

Strength
- Never gives up
- Will drive the wheels off whatever I am given.
- Don't get intimidated by something in my rear view
- Hard racing, i'll squeeze you to the side of the road to intimidate you, but not force you on the grass.
- Picking people off one by one as they make mistakes.

Weakness
- Terrible at set ups and manging tyres.
- Not a good qualifier.

Strength- consistent, patient, calculating, not ginger
Weakness- sometimes overly passive, 3-7 seconds slower than the fastest drivers, am American

Strengths: Good at controlling tail happy cars, conserving tire wear, squeezing out what most understeer-y cars have to offer on city tracks. I can also pull off a very quick lap time if I put my mind down to it and practice.
Weaknesses: Bad at traffic, breaking points, consistency, new tracks. Also quite possibly the worst rally racer on GTP.

Strengths
Former BRM driver (BRM P115)
Consistency ( I got the human stopwatch cup thing at Nurby)
Like "High maintenence" cars.
Doesn't use ABS or TCS or ESP or girly man driver aids

Weaknesses
Old fashioned Driving ethics - Giving drivers room and respect
Trying bold overtakes on the Crashard Banger types.
Prefering Sports hard or lower tyres

Strenghts:

Consistency
Gentleman's driver
Takes defeat like a man
Always finish my race (if nothing seriously bad happens IRL)

Weaknesses

Gentleman's driver
Nurburgring
Get irritated by aggressive overtakes on me resulting in messing op my consistency.

Strengths

High speed corners

4WD cars, have a nack of timing the acceleration so I leave the corner on the kurb not the grass like I used to do :P

Keep calm & carry on, not one of those who rage quits regardless of what has happend.

Weaknesses

Bloody city tracks do my nut in, totally dog awful regarding breaking points

Tire wear, very much like this years F1, try to run as long as possible but usually fail.

Throttle control, usually end up drifting around corners purely because I put too much power down too early.

American driving requirements pale to those of other countries. As such, Americans aren't that great. Had I the education of the Finns, that section would likely be a lot less. We're just now building cars that can handle without massive compromises or ham-fisted thuggery.

I like my country, I just hate the way it does things, usually in ego-filled manner.

Look at how many American F1 drivers there are. The last one couldn't even live up to his last name... Speed.

Strenghts
- real word racing experience
- good at finding braking points and apexes
- only need a handful of laps to memorize a circuit
- mega fast in qualifying

Weaknesses:
- little experience with gt5
- difficulty with tuning within gt5 physics. This causes me to be inconsistent in some tracks

Strengths

*Very clean driver who is still capable of overtaking when given the opportunity.
*I've never met anyone who is faster around the corkscrew at Laguna Seca than I am.

Weaknesses

*Horrible at identifying braking points on tracks that I'm not familiar with.
*Below-average qualifier.
