I presume you've played a lot of racing games. One such experience inspired this thread. That will be my first one once I'm done with this intro. This thread is a basic chat as to what some of your favorite experiences are. This can be any game, even those that have driving elements. For example, trying to evade the U.S. Army in GTA3 (six wanted stars). What are some of your favorites? Here are mine, including the one that inspired this thread.
* Ridge Racer Type 4 - "Shooting Hoops" Event With "Movin' in Circles" Playing.
It's fitting that on New Year's Eve, I have this experience to share. Ridge Racer Type 4 was made in 1998, but offers up Real Racing Roots 1999. The final event is a high-speed race around the Shooting Hoops event in Los Angeles. It's one of the most unreal experiences as 1999 gives way to 2000 in this game. My brother was joking that since this takes place in 1999 heading into 2000, that the cars would stop on the race track because of the Y2K hype! Probably have to get out and walk or run like in "Talladega Nights." Still, there's no better song to play than "Movin' in Circles" for this race. I seem to play this song in my head when it's New Year's Eve. Of course, most people thought 2000 was the new millenium when it's really 2001. Anyhow, it's a great way to celebrate the new year- a high-speed race with fireworks going off in the distance. Ridge Racer Type 4 itself is a great experience.
* Sega Super GT/SCUD Race - Beginner Night Course.
Nothing like finding a good car (preferably the McLaren F1) while listening to "Flight in the Dark," the song for the Beginner Night course. Racing a good car on a good track is one thing. Being able to do both of those things with a song that grips you is another. No way to second-guess the experience. It's a totally enjoyable experience to me. I still wished a proper port of Sega Super GT (as you can see in my Audio-Only video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpxScOES7jg ). And as much as I love this game for the overall experience it provides, there's one kind of underrated aspect I like about this game- good car sounds.
Those are only a few of them. What are some of your favorite racing/driving game moments?
