All wheel drive, tire spinnin', dirt throwin action, but do they really save lifes?
Of course I get that from the commercial with they guy that totalled his new suby. and "A Subaru saved my life"

When you see that commercial, you dont ever think about it, well me neither.

Then a friend got drunk, decided to speed, drifted around a corner at 110 mph and hit a 3/4 ton truck and a new SUV. Ripped the axle out of the truck, and you see the SUV. I still have my injuries and he had brain bleeding. Saddest part is? Tennessee has this cool law, where if your charged with something once, its dropped and they forget about it. They did this with his 2 prior DUI charges. He got 4 counts of aggravated vehicular assault, DUI for a minor. What did he get? $520 in fines, 6 months probation, and 24 hours community service. Not a day in jail, Juvy nothin. But in the end, it comes down too, a Subaru indeed saved my life. I guess this is also to bring up another interesting topic, is your state this leniant against such offenses?

I'll be first to say your friend (and likely you for not telling him) is an idiot. That out of the way yes they are very safe cars, too much in fact. imprezas used to have a small rollhoop that had to be later removed since it was very hard for the jaws of life to cut through it.

Oh I told him, the kicker is my gf left me.... for him.... at the hospital. I could do nothin but laugh about the whole situation. There wasnt any seats in the car, just his. So i was on the bare metal, which the police said saved me. Needless to say, my dad almost killed him. Lol.

Glad you're OK. I guess an SUV looks like a Reliant Robin when you're drunk.

or a cloud.lol I will admit, it was pretty sweet when he drifted it across the road perfect...into 2 cars. And another thing, his previous dui charges? In a 700 Horsepower terminator.

How damned stupid can you get?

This goes for both you and him by the way... Him for 3x DUI charges, you for riding with him while he was drunk.

Edit: I should also say... You mention juvy, "DUI for a minor" etc. So it's illegal for him to be drunk in the first place too. Awesome.

So he hasn't learned from his past mistakes. Also you not only didn't stop him from driving, you got into a car with no seats and you thought it was "cool" when he drifted across the road.

Whilst I generally do not have an issue natural selection doing it's job, I do have an issue with these people putting at risk the innocent lives of other motorists on the road. There is nothing "cool" about this at all, period.

While we at GT Planet do not condone driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, speeding, hooning or otherwise reckless driving, I forsee this thread being a problem in the future, and so I am going to close it before any more damage is done.

Anes, If you have something constructive to add to the thread, then by all means do so. If you don't agree with comments posted, you are in your right to voice your opinion as well (in an AUP friendly fashion) but please don't make useless posts like this. It adds nothing to the discussion.
