Since the dawn of Gran Turismo, all we've had, when buying cars, is the color template. I think GT5 will be much more in-depth then before, and give us options such as right or left hand drive, wheel options, and so forth. Kaz stated a while back that cars in GT5 will be more personal to the buyer, and make them feel like their owning more than just pixels.

What do guys think? And what options would you like to see when buying a car in GT5?

1. Color Template
2. Interior Colors (Upholstery)
3. Brake System Option (like CCB for Ferrari)
4. Calipers Color
5. Sport Packages
6. Aerodynamic Packages
7. Right or Left Hand Drive
8. Vehicle Trim
9. Rim Selection/Option
10. Engine Package
11. Model
12. The Ability to Test Drive
13. License Plate Editor

Well yesterday i started a thread putting forward the option of choosing manual or auto, and choosing left hand drive or right hand drive would be very nice ( except on something like the McLaren F1 ofcourse ).
When you start with colour it would also be nice to choose cloth or leather upholstery ( at a premium cost naturally ) and being able to buy aftermarket parts in the tuning-shop both for exterior and interior.

And maybe, and this is i admit a far stretch, car insurance so if you continually and intentionally ram other players online you have to pay for the cars ( and spoiling the fun in general ) you damage...

The option to have all performance mods fitted for however many extra dollars so I don't have to go through that terrible - "are you sure you want to buy this mod?" .... "do you want to fit it now?" rigmarole that turns the process of upgrading your car into a 20minute clickfest.

Yes. But I think it would be more like a check list you go through before buying, If you don't want it, don't check it off, and at the bottom of the page is a button that says "Buy".

suits me, just please please please PD - don't make me go through that frenetic clicking thing, everytime I get a new car!

I don't know about the rest, but that one is not happening.

Why not. It's easy to model both.

^ This please. It's been one of my biggest issues the series as a whole since the beginning.

Interior/exterior colors and OEM wheel options are all I'd expect.

Transmission type would be a good one too. You could only select AT or MT in vehicle options if that particular car has the capability in reality.

For example, buy the M3 with H-pattern 6-speed and you can only drive in MT. But get the same M3 with MDC 7-speed automated manual and you could select AT or MT.

Actually I believe this is happening to a degree. In GT PSP you will find for example the NA, EU and JP Honda S2000 as separate models. Their interior views (however detail-less) show the correct drive side. Left for the US, right for JP.. not sure about the EU's.

Meanwhile, all of the cars from GT PSP will be in GT5. This will be KY's way of easily boosting the car count and appeasing cars fans such as myself. I have a LHD 350Z, but in GT5P I have to drive the RHD version which is odd. I hate RHD in general. So it will be great to get some of the JP cars I like, but in LHD.

...also the ability to choose not to have the "CHANGE INTO THE WRONG GEAR NOW FFS!!!" indicator included as standard. You know the little red number at the bottom of the display that starts flashing like crazy when you're half a mile away from the braking zone, indicating a gear that even an 80 year old woman would probably think was too slow for that bend?

Not sure if it should be a car option or an overall system option but I've been wishing, since GT1 that they would let me turn it off. I know I should ignore it and I do try but it's ever so flashy and ever so wrong and I RAGE!!!!

About the tuning shop, wouldn't it be great (and i think this has been mentioned before somewhere ) if the different tuning firms supplied different parts as opposed to GT4 where everything was the same apart from where you were shopping ( price/performance, etc.).
The only option you had was to tune it by turbo/supercharger or enlarge the capacity if you wanted tou keep the car naturally aspirated but then again those options were the same for every tuning firm.

Imagine tuning, for instance, your new BMW and having the choice to go to either Alpina, ACSchnitzer, Hartge or any other similar firm.
It's not only going to be about performance figures but also about different filosofies those companies have about enhancing the performance and it would change the character of each car, then you could have several BMW's whose appearance might look somewhat similar (or not if you choose to adorn them with spoilers and sideskirts, etc.) but are very different beasts.

I definitely had that turned off much of the time in GT4. I think you set your hud options to "simple" or something.

Well if you are driving in interior view all the time like i do, it may not be apparent or essential all the time, but that's the same with any modification or option which is purely visual.....

The Lexus LFA comes to mind. If they have custom interior coloring in GT5 for just one car, it will be that. Go to Lexus's website and configure an LFA.. it's a chore.

But even when driving in 'cockpit mode' all you ever see is the wheel, the top part of the dash board and possibly a tiny top corner of door trim. These parts of the car are more often than not exactly the same no matter what trim you buy the car. You certainly don't see seats or carpets in cockpit mode.

Doubt it very much. If a car is right hand drive it will be either J spec or E spec like in all other GT games. If wheel options were available, would the car actually be called xxxxxxx xxxxxx (xx wheel option) like it is now? I think it will be like before. You want different wheels, but another car. Hoping I'm wrong though as this would be a big step forward for PD.

Really? Holy crap!

ATTN: evilneal ... you are no longer my personal hero!

I've cancelled the order for the SuperNeal suit and cape :(

On the car buying thing I'd like to be able to control the camera when viewing cars (pan round, zoom in etc), would help when comparing colours. I think being able to select which tuning options to buy at the same time would be the best idea though.

If you use "cockpit mode" you can look left and right ( i use the L1 and R1 buttons for this ) and you can look backwards where you can see the backseat, luggage compartment or engine depending which car you use.
Yes the carpets are obviously not visible but it still makes a difference in my view, maybe not so much the textures ( leather or cloth or vinyl for that matter) but colour does; look for instance at the Ferrari 599 in Prologue which you can have in several interior colours, and the most striking example is maybe the TVR Tuscan whereby you almost feel like driving a completely different car if you opt for either the light or dark interior option

While driving the NSX-R, I found during hard braking in replay mode you can see the Red Type R carpet. When i saw it i was shocked PD would take it that far good job PD 👍

Leather dash:

Besides, in one of the videos we saw of a recent demo (The one with the Mclaren F1 in), there was a 19" wheel option for the SLR Mclaren. Surely thats a sign we will see some sort of options when you buy a car.

There's also replays, especially with convertibles.

That's a good one which got me thinking not only about car options but driver options, clothing i mean, like the different biking suits in Tourist Trophy.
I don't mean turning GT into a fashion show but different personalised racing overalls and helmets or old-fashioned goggles for some cars.

That Jag XK is also available IRL with different wood-inlay options or the option to replace the wood with carbonfibre or metal.......

That's IF they model the different specs for each vehicle and if they do, this will not come as a "car buying option" such as different color rims, they will be different models purchased separately like you said. You will either buy the JP spec or the NA spec if they modeled both versions for that particular vehicle which I'm sure will not be the case for the majority of them.

PD should also include optional brake and arrow packages.

Infact, I'll make a list on the first page of the thread for any ideas on what YOU want when car buying. Just say, "ADD TO LIST" after your post. (it must be reasonable)

I've never played GT1 (or 2, briefly with 3) but in GT4 you can turn the suggested gear indicator or the "CHANGE INTO THE WRONG GEAR NOW FFS!!!" off by choosing Simple HUD in the driving option.
