What car is it on the A-spec's cover?

I don't think the car on the NTSC cover really exists. To me it's only an artistic stuff.
It might look like a BMW, but it's too weird.

And concerning the red thing on the PAL cover, I can't even figure out which part of a car it is.

Here are the covers (if I manage to post the links)

NTSC cover :

PAL cover :

When you turn the red cover 90° to the right, it could look like a Honda Civic headlight, but it doesn't seem to match exactly.

Somebody has a better suggestion ?

I really don't know why SCEI ignored many normal cars in GT2 - -

There are 3 Civic in GT3 :
- Civic VTi '93
- Civic Type R '98
- Spoon Civic Type R '00

The reason for less than 200 cars in the game (compared to 500+ in GT2) is that in GT2 car models used 500 polygons while they need 5,000 polygons in GT3.
And DVD-Rom are not expandable...

Just don't ask why GT4 will feature more cars than GT3, using even more polygons ;) Perhaps they found a better storage method...

Prelude looks indeed fine but if you take a close look to the inside egde of the light, it's straight on the Prelude while it's curved on the cover.
(I just hope this explanation is clear for you, because it doesn't sound clear to me :D )

Once I heard someone said that lots of polygons what is originally used for the course were now for the cars. - -
But I did't think that that was right. - -

P.S.: The size of the whole GT3 is only 2.36GB, maybe SCEI can put a massive number of cars in a D9 DVD... - -

I think indeed the D9 makes the difference. Because in GT4 the environment (people, tress) are said to be in 3D and not simple flat pix anymore.

There is also in GT3 a Honda CRX, aka Delsol, which I must admit is also a Civic to me.

If you turnthe case round 90 degrees so the spine is at the top you'll see it better.

Yes...

I had always thought turning it to the right would give a clue... I was wrong, it had to be turned to the left.

Thanks,

omg ! you all disgrace me ! wats the point playing gt3 , if you dont have a clue about cars !? its a disgrace that you try say that the cover car is a civic ! its obviously a porsche ! a gt3 at that ! see the games called gt3 , therefore the car is a porsche gt3 !! get it ,

It's the RGT. The RGT has thoes headlights, have a look yourself.

That's a very simple way of seeing things, but it seems to work in that case.
:D

I don't get your logic. The game is called GT3 so therefore the car is a Porsche GT3? There are no Porsches in the game* so why would there be one on the cover?

It could also be the 3400S.

*I know there's a 996 on the disc but you can't get it by normal means

I'm really surprised no one has gotten this yet...It's an Acura CL Type S. Check the back of your manual's if you don't believe me, page 40.

Absolutely right!

I'd always wondered since day one, but page 40 of the NTSC version says:

Thank you to American Honda Motor Co., Inc. for the use of the Acura CL Type-S for the package front.

Alright, smarty...tell us exactly what the car in th GT1 cover is, an you'll win *free avatars for life.

* While supplies last.

I've thought that, but nobody's ever come to a perfect conclusion.

It's one of the few GT1 threads that won't die!

Well in the thread currently discussing it someone said it wasn't a Camaro and compared it to a current shape Camaro which has a slightly different profile to the older one.

BLAAH! Every damn Porsche has those same headlights! LOL even the freaking Porsche SUV has a fugly front end because they tried to get those headlights on there.

And about the rear being the CL...finally it is resolved, I don't own that box mind you, I got the special GT3 PS2 that came with the red box...but I've always wondered what the car for the blue box was.
