Not sure if this has ever been asked but after using the Prius Touring Car (and being reminded how much I hate the droning noise) what cars only have a CVT Transmission so I can stay away from them? :p.

I'm not sure, but I think the tesla roadster has it... Though, I wish Cvt trannys were an option on cars, lots of performance benefits!

Edit: how did you get a prius touring car?

Tesla doesn't have a CVT.

Cars that do are all of the Prius', the Honda Jazz/Fit, and the Mitsubishi i Concept.

I don't like it though. I find them to completely mess up with my education of using solely the stick shift for all cars (including the more difficult X2010, X2011 and FGT). I'm glad that all of the CVT cars aren't too powerful (and none are other than FF) but how would you save the car from spinning out due to improper exits from the corner? You can't up-shift to stop spinning the wheels.

Throttle Control or make sure you exit the corner properly, thats all you can do.

lighten me up, guys. does it really suppose to go slow and stay in D the whole time? the prius I mean.

thanks

It has no gears. Drive and Reverse are the only gears. The way to take corners is by speed and RPMs. This is the only instance where the blinking red gear indicator should be turned off because there is no use for it (and no use is succinct).

you can turn the blinking red indicator off without turning off the tach/speedo? Please enlighten me.

The Prius TC is awesome btw. Gets up to 130mph pretty swiftly when fully tuned. 0-60 in 5 seconds. Slow? Not really.

I'm saying IF it could be done, this would be the car to do it for.

I didn't tune it. I ran this car completely stock and my impression was that I didn't like it. The CR-Z TC, on the other hand, is perfectly suitable stock.

I also wondered as i dont know anything about the prius, the droning sound of max rpm is enough to not use this car ever again.

I am not sure of the exact HP output of the Prius. Granted there are worse cars but classifying the 11 cars released (eliminating the X2011 and the 3 karts from the classification as they don't really fit) the Prius is definitely on the lower end in stock form. I haven't touched it (and won't til I can buy a new one in A-Spec) offline but the stock form is not appealing to me (granted, its not iMiEV disaster, but still not appealing).

Mitsubishi Colt has a CVT and the horrid noise to go with it. But you can swap it out for a close ratio 5-speed which makes it MUCH more pleasant, and is geared just about perfect for what the car is capable of stock.

I pretty sure the description says my premium Vitz has a CVT, but it doesn't, it has a 7 speed. I know I have one car that it says has one but doesn't(stock).

It's still technically a CVT, it just uses "steps" to simulate a regular transmission. Why? Who knows.

Ahh, ok thanks. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and say that it does that to make driving it (especially racing it) 1000 times less annoying.

The Citroen GT Concept has it too..i like it only because you can do 200 in reverse :D
I've got one as well :sly: I have to say that with the amount of power that car has, it makes a pretty big difference on the straights. I love the sound of it and how it drives; I would use it for an endurance race if the battery didn't die :ouch: And as you said, it can do 200 mph in reverse, which is quite unique 👍
