What did you do in GT7 today?

On the GTP account, I did the usual Tokyo grind with the R33. I decided to take tires at the end of lap 9 to see if I could break into the 2:12s at the end of the race, and I did on the last 2 laps (best was lap 11 with a 2:12.348, which was the best lap of anybody in the race). The 3-star marathon roulette was the usual low-cash (though not lowest-possible) 10,000 Cr.

On the Plus account, I began slogging through the Tokyo races I had either not done or not finished 1st in. I sent the R34 to do what the Z34 could not in the Japanese Clubman Cup (the Z34 took 2nd) and my tuned R32 to do what the R35 could not in the Nissan GT-R Cup (the R35 took 2nd). That leaves the two WTC 600 races (for which the R32 seems well-suited, as the suspension tune is the base of my current GTP R33 grinder), the World Rally Challenge, and the Clubman Cup Plus, none of which I have done. Took a surprise 500,000 Cr. haul out of the 3-star, though the 1,000,000 Cr. option and the 5,000 Cr. booby prize were also there. Time to research which VGT to buy for Menu Book 41.

Started the day with a WTC700 run at Lagiuna Seca, in my stock Gr.4 Supra. Won by 10 seconds and .3 Laps in the tank. I’ll run through the other WTC700 races until the LCD updates and hopefully, the Fina F1 is waiting for me to scoop it up. I’ll be done collecting, until DLC are added.

Tried the PP730 and 800 races at Daytona with the Gr3 Supra along with default settings. The 730 race was relatively easy but the 800 race feels really difficult unless you want to use an OP car, default settings were fine for the other PP 800 races I’ve done.

After that I won the Human Comedy race at Trial Mountain in cockpit view, It was fun even though I spun out 3 times.

Hi, Just had a look and a mess about with my CLK, not tried yet, but pp799.97, 539hp & 990Kg, I'd like to try it tonight, but have to be up early, so test tomorrow.
The BHP figure is wrong. I hadn't changed the oil in a while and it dropped down. It should be 545 with those settings.

Today, My GT7 Day began with some Custom Races.
I experimented with all possible Settings to somehow give me a Challenging Racing Experience.
Indeed, I found some ways to keep me entertained for quite a good time.
Of course, racing the AI is something completely different to racing Sport Mode or Multiplayer in General against Randoms.
But on the other Hand, it was some of the most intense AND most FAIR Racing I’ve had in GT7.
The AI might not be the fastest but they are clean as a Whistle.
I had so much fun racing them fair and square it was pure pleasure and great entertainment.
May I say that racing the AI in GT7 is more enjoyable than racing 99% of Humans I came across.
Good Job PD, now just make the AI a bit faster and let them go at full pace.
Other than that I’m fine with them.

After that, I had a play in Open Lobbies and the General Driving Standards were shocking to say the least.
I eventually came across a few Players which were both, fast and fair but for the biggest part, it was just bad Racecraft and almost no Respect on track at all.

I then jumped into some Stock Cars, searched for cool looking Liveries and took them out for some free ride Sessions.

And to finish my GT7 Day, I rewatched some Replays, turned up the Volume on my AVR and felt like watching some real World racing with some great side by side Fighting for several Laps and some great overtaking and cut back Action.

It was a good Day, a very good Day.

Just had the most amazing race in The Human Comedy Deep Forest Raceway. Tried it yesterday with the Atenza Gr. 4 for the first time and ended up in 8th, 20 seconds behind first place. I was doing consistent 1.38-1.39, with one or two laps on the 1:36:xx and I felt it could be pushed further. I max tuned the Atenza with the mid turbo and power restricted it further, it gained some acceleration and lowered downforce for not to lose so much time on the straight line. Had to tweak a bit the natural frequency to reach 619,99 PP. Tested the configuration in time trial and managed to do a lap on the 1:34:xxx. So I took it off to the track.

In the first race I did, I pitted on the 30' mark for new tyres, no fuel. This time, and as I noticed that the Taycan did 3 pits, and to hold back the Taycan one more time for at least one lap on FM 1, I was going to pit at the 35' to undercut him for 3 laps and then to hold him off for 1 full lap before his third pit. If I pitted at the same time, I would probably not be in 1st after his pit stop. So I gave it all in the first 25 minutes, FM1 all the way, and elbows out if needed on the overtakes. Sliding if needed. Then, on the second half of the race, I would give it all for the first 20 minutes after pit stop then manage a bit with the FM and tyres on the final 15 minutes if needed.

I swiftly reached the 3rd place 10 minutes in. Did some very good laps, including two 1:35:xxx but never got the chance to do a 1:34:xxx like in the time trial. Eventually, with less grip due to the tyres, I started doing consistent 1:37. Had a 1:40 due to a -1s time penalty on sector 1 (my only mistake for the whole race).
Reached P2 after the Taycan did the first pit. Then I held him off for one lap with elbows out, but he performed the overtake on the straight. 5 minutes later, I did my pit, with new tyres and no fuel. Came out in P9 (I think), and started gaining ground once again. Taycan pitted on the 30' and I came two seconds in front of him. Managed 2 full laps holding him off while doing 1:36-1:37. Eventually, he performed the overtake on me and on Beavouis, who was upfront by 2 seconds. The Taycan reached him and 1 lap later, I performed the overtake on Beavouis before the tunnel with slipstream for P2. Then I made a comfortable 4 seconds lead on him before the final 20 minutes while the Taycan was moving away.

Started having trouble with the gas on lap 27, where I felt that I would need to adapt to finish the race. So I thought to have FM1 on the 2 straights and FM4/5/6 in the first two sectors. I wasn't really doing that much short shifting, pushing the whole car to the limit, but now I had to as well.

As predicted, the Taycan pitted on the 15'. Finally in P1! From there, I had situations where Beavouis was 0.2/0.3 but never managed to overtake me. Had to elbows out in lap 36 (the lap before the final lap) on the first straight but I never blocked him. Performed consistent 1:38-low 1:39 on the final 10 laps, with one or another 1:37. But the final 5 laps were almost perfect in terms of pace and driving line, it had to be.

Had Beavouis and Inistroza finish 0.7 and 2.5 seconds behind, respectively. Gas on 0% with 0,1 laps.
One more lap and if I had the gas, Inistroza would have probably managed to catch me.
Man, what a race. It really felt like I pushed to the limit of the car, my skills and strategy and I'm glad I managed to gold this race this way. I am a casual player that loves endurance nonetheless, so it meant a lot to me.

Did something daft at Sardegna PP800 race with the CLK LM - went into a kind of daydream and forgot to pit end lap 6 (on FM1).
About a third of the way into lap 7, despite being warned (never noticed it), I ran out of petrol and had to do the remainder at 80 kmh!
This put me from 1st to 18th! Managed to claw it back and won by 8 seconds.

This gave me a 4 star ticket - no money on the wheel, just parts and an invite. Invited to buy one of the three top Ferraris (Enzo, LaFerrari or FXX), none of which I have. Decisions, decisions!

Found a weird glitch at Interlagos - I had bronze for all sectors and full lap ages ago, and decided to try for silver (or if lucky, gold!).
I upped the first two sectors to silver and then quit - it gave me Cr. 200,000 for getting bronze in all sectors - which I already had!
Not complaining! Interested to know if that happened to anyone else?

Last night I finished the 30 Laps Tsukuba - Moby Dick Mission, the R8 pass mission and the SRT Gr1 pass mission for the limited time that I had. Spun the wheel on a 3* ticket and got a full customized suspension for a BRZ '21. Bought some cars from Hagerty and UCD because I figured it doesn't matter when I get the trophies, I'll get them eventually, might as well buy some cars that I'll enjoy driving. Tuned up the Diablo and took it to Florence for a scapes shot.

For the limited hour and a bit that I had last night, I would say I was very successful.

It depends on how long ago you got the bronze times. The 200,000 credit payouts came in an update and you had to go back to the circuit experiences that you'd already done to get the payout.

Otherwise, you might have found a clitch.

For both the last two nights I've done about 100 miles 'testing' with the wheel, with some (very) mixed results.

The previous night was a bit of a shambles, and I struggled my way round Fuji (which is my favourite test track) in an 800 PP NSX JGTC. I did finally get it hooked up, but it was still a bit of a mess. I also tried using a lower powered car - around 600 PP Nissan GT-R around Spa, and that was an even bigger mess. Still, I've discovered parts of both circuits I never knew existed before, so that's a bonus...

Last night, however, I decided to try out the 700 PP JGTC Supra at Autopolis, and it was massively better. I even did my usual WTC 700 race with virtually no practice and although I didn't win (I lost by 0.066 s!), I was eventually putting in lap times comparable to those I can achieve with the controller... so I figured that the handling of different cars varies much more widely with the wheel than it does with the controller, almost like the controller 'standardises' handling to the benefit of making life a lot easier, but at the cost of realism and nuance.

Still, all in all it was a very interesting experience, and knowing that the Supra handles so well with the wheel is very encouraging in these early stages of learning how to play the game all over again...

Now that's a really good point, thanks! I would have done Interlagos early on as I am fairly comfortable with it (yeah, I know, bronze! 😂)
That is a very likely explanation - I will have to re-visit the other tracks to see if I have any cash lurking there!

On the GTP account, I did the usual Tokyo grind on a no-stop strategy, then turned some laps in this week's WRS event. The 2-star marathon Wheel of Despair pumped out the usual low-cash/lowest-possible 5,000 Cr. on an all-money wheel.

Today I did a one-stop at Le Mans in my Celica GT Four. I got quite lucky with the weather; gambled on putting another set of RH tyres on as a wave of patchy rain came in. The rain was just a brief shower, and it was then blue skies for the rest of the race.

I almost got my fuel wrong, had to shortshift a bit on the last two laps, but thankfully at the end of the penultimate lap the leader pitted and I held 1st all the way. Again, a bit fortunate.

I was then awarded 800 odd thousand credits with the CRB, and for my daily marathon - a slap in the face (2 star, 5000 credits).

I got a M3 GT3 11 for my birthday gift. I also did a 20 minutes race in the Kei car class at Laguna Seca. I won pretty handily which surprised as I did the same race with the Bugatti VGT and I could only come in 8th. I used some janky settings on Cappucino and the car must have flipped at least 4 times. I tried a slightly different setup from the one I used in the menu book so I might need to go back to that

A bit off-topic, but re the birthday gift, from what I’ve read it’s set from whatever DOB you register on PSN. I had a look yesterday to make sure I’ve got mine correctly listed, but I can’t find where my date of birth is.

Do you (or anyone else) know where I go on the PS4 dashboard to check?

I don't have a PS4 so I am not sure.

Sampling CLK tunes at Sarthe. The car is a beauty to drive. I am struggling a bit getting used to the braking and cornering of a proper race car, I generally prefer the challenge of a road car as opposed to mopping the floor with a racer.

I wanted some faster driving today and to earn bigger chunks of money in the small window of time I had, so I jumped into the Gr 3 Impreza and did 3 WTC 700 events. Then the wheel of misfortune handed me another of those CHC '67 Novas. Now I have one to keep stock and one to go nuts on.

I tried this a few times yesterday as well, with a bone stock 717PP R8 EVO, and the AI just have a much better pace on the straights/oval which makes it basically impossible with a stock GR3 car and fuel saving. One stopping with no tires and turning decent laps I can only get 5th out of it. Watched a couple guides and the solution is basically throw a larger turbo on the car to bump up the power and then it should be relatively easy.

I too almost always use factory PP settings and the races are fairly easy to get 1st on while still being a bit of a challenge, but Daytona boils everything down to power and speed. I need to get it done, because I really don't care for Daytona.

Good luck!

All I've done in the lase few days is make a copy of my buddies R53 Cooper S and then do my best to tune it into something that handles like a real FWD car. I've gotten close, but it takes putting one step harder compound on the rear, which I don't like doing at all, and bumps UP the PP for some insane reason.

For whatever reason, the realism of it or whatever, I love making reps of cars that exist IRL. It really nails home immersion for me, and makes replays that little bit more special.

Did a few rounds of Suzuka with the LM55 VGT (non-Gr. 1). It was my go-to back in GT6, so wanted to see what it can do now. It is phenomenal to drive, super planted and quick enough to make it easy against the Peugeot.

Was hoping for a monsoon, but stayed dry the first time and got a little wet the second. Gonna keep trying until I get the storm, really want to see what it's like.

Try adding a Customisable Racing Transmission, I found it to improve fuel efficiency (and acceleration times of course) on my Gr.3 Genesis facilitating a comfortable 1 Stop on RH (which don't need changing) - previously I was limping to 5 complete laps with some fuel-saving.

The Racing Transmission adds about 8PP but personally wouldn't class it in the same category as just lumping on a turbo to win.

Spent my brief time with GT7 today buying and racing around in S15 Silvias. Very happy to have it back in GT7. Leaving it out in GT Sport was a mistake.

I also did a 15-minute custom race at Le Mans with my GT-R Nismo grip monster with a torrential rainfall set to come in the final minutes. Pitted for inters on the final lap and regretted it. I really should’ve gone for wets, but it is instinct to slap the inters on considering how many times I’ve done the WTC700 race.

Finally managed a sub 2:02 qualification lap for Suzuka. Been trying all week, went through my whole collection of GR 3 racers. A 2:01:791 in the Mazda RX-Vision Concept. Should put me somewhere near the front for some DR C races at the weekend - I’ve been in danger of slipping back down to D after some poor runs starting mid-pack.
